| 2026 | A Lightweight Safety Helmet Compliance Detection via Multimodal Fusion (Student Abstract)abstractEnsuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), especially helmets, is essential for workplace safety. Conventional object detectors often fail to distinguish whether a helmet is worn correctly, and existing approaches relying on single-model pipelines are prone to localization errors and false alarms. Moreover, most prior studies do not guarantee real-time performance. To resolve these challenges, we propose a lightweight multimodal approach that integrates a YOLO11-based object detector with a pose estimation model, achieving higher F1 scores and lower false alarm rates while maintaining real-time performance. | 2024 | Solar Power Generation Forecasting via Multimodal Feature Fusion (Student Abstract)abstractSolar power generation has recently been in the spotlight as global warming continues to worsen. However, two significant problems may hinder solar power generation, considering that solar panels are installed outside. The first is soiling, which accumulates on solar panels, and the second is a decrease in sunlight owing to bad weather. In this paper, we will demonstrate that the solar power generation forecasting can increase when considering soiling and sunlight information. We first introduce a dataset containing images of clean and soiled solar panels, sky images, and weather information. For accurate solar power generation forecasting, we propose a new multimodal model that aggregates various features related to weather, soiling, and sunlight. The experimental results demonstrated the high accuracy of our proposed multimodal model. Eul Ka, Seungeun Go, Minjin Kwak, Aziz Nasridinov |

| 2023 | Incremental Density-Based Clustering with Grid Partitioning (Student Abstract)abstractDBSCAN is widely used in various fields, but it requires computational costs similar to those of re-clustering from scratch to update clusters when new data is inserted. To solve this, we propose an incremental density-based clustering method that rapidly updates clusters by identifying in advance regions where cluster updates will occur. Also, through extensive experiments, we show that our method provides clustering results similar to those of DBSCAN. Tserenpurev Chuluunsaikhan, Jong-Hyeok Choi, Aziz Nasridinov |

| 2022 | Skyline (λ, k)-Cliques Identification From Fuzzy Attributed Social NetworksabstractIdentifying the optimal groups of users that are closely connected and satisfy some ranking criteria from an attributed social network attracts significant attention from both academia and industry. Skyline query processing, a multicriteria decision-making optimized technique, is recently embedded into cohesive subgraphs mining in graphs/social networks. However, the existing studies cannot capture the fuzzy property of connections between users in social networks. To fill this gap, in this article, we formulate a novel model of the skyline$(\lambda,k)$-cliques over a fuzzy attributed social network and develop a formal concept analysis (FCA)-based skyline$(\lambda,k)$-cliques identification algorithm. Specifically,$\lambda $can be regarded as a quality control parameter for measuring the stability of the cohesive groups. Extensive experimental results conducted on three real-world datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the skyline$(\lambda,k)$-clique model in a fuzzy attributed social network. Furthermore, an illustrative example is executed for revealing the usefulness of our model. It is expected that our proposed skyline$(\lambda,k)$-clique model can be widely used in various graph-based computational social systems, such as optimal team formation in crowdsourcing, and group recommendation in social networks. | 2022 | Incremental Entity Summarization With Formal Concept AnalysisabstractKnowledge graph describes entities by numerous RDF data (subject-predicate-object triples), which has been widely applied in various fields, such as artificial intelligence, Semantic Web, entity summarization. With time elapses, the continuously increasing RDF descriptions of entity lead to information overload and further cause people confused. With this backdrop, automatic entity summarization has received much attention in recent years, aiming to select the most concise and most typical facts that depict an entity in brief from lengthy RDF data. As new descriptions of entity are continually coming, creating a compact summary of entity quickly from a lengthy knowledge graph is challenging. To address this problem, this article first formulates the problem and proposes a novel approach of Incremental Entity Summarization by leveraging Formal Concept Analysis (FCA), called IES-FCA. Additionally, we not only prove the rationality of our suggested method mathematically, but also carry out extensive experiments using two real-world datasets. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method IES-FCA can save about 8.7 percent of time consumption for all entities than the non-incremental entity summarization approach KAFCA at best. As for the effectiveness, IES-FCA outperforms the state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of$F1-measure$,$MAP$, and$NDCG$. | 2020 | An Automatic Shoplifting Detection from Surveillance Videos (Student Abstract)abstractThe use of closed circuit television (CCTV) surveillance devices is increasing every year to prevent abnormal behaviors, including shoplifting. However, damage from shoplifting is also increasing every year. Thus, there is a need for intelligent CCTV surveillance systems that ensure the integrity of shops, despite workforce shortages. In this study, we propose an automatic detection system of shoplifting behaviors from surveillance videos. Instead of extracting features from the whole frame, we use the Region of Interest (ROI) optical-flow fusion network to highlight the necessary features more accurately. | 2019 | AVS-Net: Automatic Visual Surveillance Using Relation NetworkabstractVisual surveillance through closed circuit television (CCTV) can help to prevent crime. In this paper, we propose an automatic visual surveillance network (AVS-Net), which simultaneously performs image processing and object detection to determine the dangers of situations captured by CCTV. In addition, we add a relation module to infer the relationships of the objects in the images. Experimental results show that the relation module greatly improves classification accuracy, even if there is not enough information. Sein Jang, Young-Ho Park 0002, Aziz Nasridinov |

| 2019 | A Feasibility Test on Preventing PRMDs Based on Deep LearningabstractThis study proposes a method to reduce the playing-related musculoskeletal disorders (PRMDs) that often occur among pianists. Specifically, we propose a feasibility test that evaluates several state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms to prevent injuries of pianist. For this, we propose (1) a C3P dataset including various piano playing postures and show (2) the application of four learning algorithms, which demonstrated their superiority in video classification, to the proposed C3P datasets. To our knowledge, this is the first study that attempted to apply the deep learning paradigm to reduce the PRMDs in pianist. The experimental results demonstrated that the classification accuracy is 80% on average, indicating that the proposed hypothesis about the effectiveness of the deep learning algorithms to prevent injuries of pianist is true. | 2016 | A histogram-based method for efficient detection of rewriting attacks in simple object access protocol messagesabstractAbstract In order to secure the content of simple object access protocol (SOAP) messages in Web services, several security standards of Web service security, such as XML digital signature, are used. However, the content of a SOAP message, protected with XML digital signature, can be altered without invalidating the signature. Existing methods for detecting XML rewriting attacks are inefficient because the cost of performing detection operation is linear to the height of the SOAP message tree. Thus, each element of SOAP message needs to be accessed and checked. In this paper, we propose an efficient method for detecting XML rewriting attacks on SOAP messages using a histogram. With our method, once the source of attacks is identified, we save it in the form of a histogram, which enables us to maintain a statistical information about the location of the attack in the SOAP message. We can use this information to detect attacks in the future and thus avoid unnecessary check of all elements in the SOAP message. Experiments show that our methods outperform existing methods by several times in many cases. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. | 2016 | Adaptive convex skyline: a threshold-based project partitioned layer-based index for efficient-processing top-k queries in entrepreneurship applicationsabstractMany entrepreneurship applications use data as the core concept of their business to better understand the needs of their customers. However, as the size of databases used by these entrepreneurship applications grows and as more users access data through various interactive interfaces, obtaining the result for a top-k query may take long time if the query matches millions of the tuples in the database. Traditionally, layer-based indexing methods are representative for processing top-k queries efficiently. These methods form tuples into a list of layers where the ith layer holds the tuples that can be the top-i answer. Layer-based indexing methods enable us to obtain top-k answers by accessing at most k layers. Most of these methods achieve high accuracy of query answer at the expense of enlarged index construction time. However, we can adjust between accuracy and index construction time to achieve an optimal performance. Thus in this paper, we propose a method, called the adaptive convex skyline (AdaptCS) for efficient-processing top-k queries in entrepreneurship applications. AdaptCS first prunes the data with a virtual threshold point and finds skyline points over the pruned data. Here, by adjusting virtual threshold we are able to achieve optimal performance. Then, AdaptCS divides the skyline into m subregions with projection partitioning method and constructs the convex hull m times for each subregion with virtual objects. Lastly, AdaptCS combines the objects obtained by computing the convex hull. The experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the existing methods.
