2022 Interpretability Analysis of One-Year Mortality Prediction for Stroke Patients Based on Deep Neural Network
abstract
Clinically, physicians collect the benchmark medical data to establish archives for a stroke patient and then add the follow up data regularly. It has great significance on prognosis prediction for stroke patients. In this paper, we present an interpretable deep learning model to predict the one-year mortality risk on stroke. We design sub-modules to reconstruct features from original clinical data that highlight the dissimilarity and temporality of different variables. The model consists of Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM), in which a novel correlation attention module is proposed that takes the correlation of variables into consideration. In experiments, datasets are collected clinically from the department of neurology in a local AAA hospital. It consists of 2,275 stroke patients hospitalized in the department of neurology from 2014 to 2016. Our model achieves a precision of 0.9414, a recall of 0.9502 and an F1-score of 0.9415. In addition, we provide the analysis of the interpretability by visualizations with reference to clinical professional guidelines.

2022 Con&Net: A Cross-Network Anchor Link Discovery Method Based on Embedding Representation
abstract
Cross-network anchor link discovery is an important research problem and has many applications in heterogeneous social network. Existing schemes of cross-network anchor link discovery can provide reasonable link discovery results, but the quality of these results depends on the features of the platform. Therefore, there is no theoretical guarantee to the stability. This article employs user embedding feature to model the relationship between cross-platform accounts, that is, the more similar the user embedding features are, the more similar the two accounts are. The similarity of user embedding features is determined by the distance of the user features in the latent space. Based on the user embedding features, this article proposes an embedding representation-based method Con&Net(Content and Network) to solve cross-network anchor link discovery problem. Con&Net combines the user’s profile features, user-generated content (UGC) features, and user’s social structure features to measure the similarity of two user accounts. Con&Net first trains the user’s profile features to get profile embedding. Then it trains the network structure of the nodes to get structure embedding. It connects the two features through vector concatenating, and calculates the cosine similarity of the vector based on the embedding vector. This cosine similarity is used to measure the similarity of the user accounts. Finally, Con&Net predicts the link based on similarity for account pairs across the two networks. A large number of experiments in Sina Weibo and Twitter networks show that the proposed method Con&Net is better than state-of-the-art method. The area under the curve (AUC) value of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve predicted by the anchor link is 11% higher than the baseline method, and Precision@30 is 25% higher than the baseline method.

2020 An Ensemble Deep Learning Architecture for Multilabel Classification on TI-RADS
abstract
In recent years, thyroid nodule is being one of the most common nodular lesions. Ultrasonography is widely used in the clinical diagnosis of thyroid nodules. With the development of artificial intelligence, there emerge great progress in medical image diagnosis. Clinically, physician diagnose malignant or benign by many pathological features. In this work, we propose an ensemble architecture to resolve multi-label problem, which integrate three methods to extract features on thyroid nodule for ultrasound images. They are EfficientNet, feature engineering and feature pyramid network. We consider five kinds of pathological features quantified by Thyroid Imaging Report and Data System (TI-RADS). In the experiments, we use two datasets. One includes 587 original ultrasound images on thyroid nodules collected from the local health physical center of a 3A hospital. The other is a public dataset in the MICCAI 2020 competition. It contains 3644 ultrasound images of thyroid images. We use receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) to evaluate the model, the area under curve (AUC) on every kind of features. The experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively assist doctors in diagnosing ultrasound images of thyroid nodules.

2006 Learning from facial aging patterns for automatic age estimation
abstract
Age Specific Human-Computer Interaction (ASHCI) has vast potential applications in daily life. However, automatic age estimation technique is still underdeveloped. One of the main reasons is that the aging effects on human faces present several unique characteristics which make age estimation a challenging task that requires non-standard classification approaches. According to the speciality of the facial aging effects, this paper proposes the AGES (AGing pattErn Subspace) method for automatic age estimation. The basic idea is to model the aging pattern, which is defined as a sequence of personal aging face images, by learning a representative subspace. The proper aging pattern for an unseen face image is then determined by the projection in the subspace that can best reconstruct the face image, while the position of the face image in that aging pattern will indicate its age. The AGES method has shown encouraging performance in the comparative experiments either as an age estimator or as an age range estimator.

2005 Applying both positive and negative selection to supervised learning for anomaly detection
abstract
This paper presents a novel approach of applying both positive selection and negative selection to supervised learning for anomaly detection. It first learns the patterns of the normal class via co-evolutionary genetic algorithm, which is inspired from the positive selection, and then generates synthetic samples of the anomaly class, which is based on the negative selection in the immune system. Two algorithms about synthetic generation of the anomaly class are proposed. One deals with data sets containing a few anomalous samples; while the other deals with data sets containing no anomalous samples at all. The experimental results on some benchmark data sets from UCI data set repertory show that the detection rate is improved evidently, accompanied by a slight increase in false alarm rate via introducing novel synthetic samples of the anomaly class. The advantages of our method are the increased ability of classifiers in identifying both previously known and innovative anomalies, and the maximal degradation of overfitting phenomenon.

2005 Research on train group operation model in RITS
abstract
This paper focuses on intelligent attributes of railway intelligent transportation system (RITS) to use agent-oriented G-net approach to construct the model about stations and trains in the simulation system based on multi-agent, which is called agent-oriented G-net train operation model (AGNTOM). The model integrates object-oriented approach, multi-agent technique and Petri nets analysis method, so it embodies the object-oriented concepts including class, inheritance, encapsulation, and utilizes existed Petri nets analysis tools to ensure the design of the simulation system. Furthermore, we use Petri nets theory in agent structure design and analysis phases to make multi-agent simulation system developing efficiently. Compared with existed models, AGNTOM has some prominent features including asynchronous message-passing, better description for the frame of the system, better autonomous decision-making and self-adjustment abilities.

2004 The Discovery of Generalized Causal Models with Mixed Variables Using MML Criterion
abstract
One major difficulty frustrating the application of linear causal models is that they are not easily adapted to cope with discrete data. This is unfortunate since most real problems involve both continuous and discrete variables. In this paper, we consider a class of graphical models which allow both continuous and discrete variables, and propose the parameter estimation method and a structure discovery algorithm based on Minimum Message Length and parameter estimation. Experimental results are given to demonstrate the potential for the application of this method.

2004 An Immune Network Approach for Web Document Clustering
abstract
The human immune system provides inspiration for solving a wide range of innovative problems. In this paper, we propse an immune network based approach for web document clustering. All the immune cells in the network competitively recognize the antigens (web documents) which are presented to the network one by one. The interaction between immune cells and an antigen leads to an augment of the network through the clonal selection and somatic mutation of the stimulated immune cells, while the interaction among immune cells results in a network compression. The structure of the immune network is well maintained by learning and self-regularity. We use a public web document data set to test the effectiveness of our method and compare it with other approaches. The experimental results demonstrate that the most striking advantage of immune-based data clustering is its adaptation in dynamic environment and the capability of finding new clusters automatically.

2004 What Will Affect Software Reuse: A Causal Model Analysis
abstract
Software reuse is an important topic due to its potential benefits in increasing product quality and decreasing cost. Although more and more people are aware that not only technical issues, but also nontechnical issues are important to the success of software reuse, people are still not certain which factors will have direct effect on the success of reuse. In this paper, we applied a causal discovery algorithm to the software reuse survey data [2]. Ensemble strategy is incorporated to locate a probable causal model structure for software reuse, and find all those factors which have direct effect on the success of reuse. Our discovery results reinforced some conclusions of Morisio et al. and found some new conclusions which might significantly improve the odds of a reuse project succeeding.

2002 Linear Causal Model Discovery Using the MML criterion
abstract
Determining the causal structure of a domain is a key task in the area of data mining and knowledge discovery. The algorithm proposed by Wallace et al. (1996) has demonstrated its strong ability in discovering Linear Causal Models from given data sets. However some experiments showed that this algorithm experienced difficulty in discovering linear relations with small deviation, and it occasionally gives a negative message length, which should not be allowed. In this paper a more efficient and precise MML encoding scheme is proposed to describe the model structure and the nodes in a Linear Causal Model. The estimation of different parameters is also derived. Empirical results show that the new algorithm outperformed the previous MML-based algorithm in terms of both speed and precision.

2001 Inexact Field Learning: An Approach to Induce High Quality Rules from Low Quality Data
abstract
To avoid low quality problems caused by low quality data, the paper introduces an inexact field learning approach which derives rules by working on the fields of attributes with respect to classes, rather than on individual point values of attributes. The experimental results show that field learning achieved a higher prediction accuracy rate on new unseen test cases which is particularly true when the learning is performed on large low quality data.

abstract
The paper formulates the problem of learning Bayesian network structures from data as determining the structure that best approximates the probability distribution indicated by the data. A new metric, Penalized Mutual Information metric, is proposed, and an evolutionary algorithm is designed to search for the best structure among alternatives. The experimental results show that this approach is reliable and promising.
