2025 Hierarchical Alignment of Multiple Time Series With Missing Timestamps
abstract
Collecting data using a UAV nomadic gateway, which serves as a "go-between" edge device between resource-limited end sensor devices and a cloud instance may lead to data quality issues. Power outages on end devices together with MCU lacking the system clock may not only make collected time series data incomplete but also disrupt timestamping of sequences of samples. The proposed data fusion method performed at the cloud side combines information from a number of sensors to align the sequences along time.

2021 CAVE applications: from craft manufacturing to product line engineering
abstract
Product line engineering model is suitable for engineering related software products in an efficient manner, taking advantage of their similarities while managing their differences. Our feature driven software product line (SPL) solution based on that model allows for instantiation of different CAVE products based on the set of core assets and driven by a set of common VR features with the minimal budget and time to market.

abstract
Abstract Electronic documents constitute specific units of information, and protecting them against unauthorized access is a challenging task. This is because a password protected document may be stolen from its host computer or intercepted while on transfer and exposed to unlimited offline attacks. The key issue is, therefore, making document passwords hard to crack. We propose to augment a common text password authentication interface to encrypted documents with a biometric facial identity verification providing highly personalized security mechanism based on pseudo-identities. In consequence the encrypted document can be unlocked with the legitimate user’s face, while for everyone else stays encrypted with a hard to crack text password. This paper makes two contributions: (1) The proposed scheme enables password autofill without referring to any external service, which significantly limits the possibilities of an attack by adversaries when opening, reading and editing the protected document, (2) By the adoption of biometric verification techniques enabling fine-tuning of false acceptance and false rejection rates, it provides for responsible adaptation to users.

2013 Augmenting digital documents with negotiation capability
abstract
Active digital documents are not only capable of performing various operations using their internal functionality and external services, accessible in the environment in which they operate, but can also migrate on their own over a network of mobile devices that provide dynamically changing execution contexts. They may imply conflicts between preferences of the active document and the device the former wishes to execute on. In the paper we propose a solution for solving such conflicts with automatic negotiations, allowing documents and devices to find contracts satisfying both sides. It is based on a simple bargaining model reinforced with machine learning mechanisms to classify string sequences representing negotiation histories.

2004 The lifecycle of a digital historical document: structure and content
abstract
This paper describes the lifecycle of a digital historical document, from template-based structure definition through to content extraction from the scanned pages and its final reconstitution as an electronic document (combining content and semantic information) along with the tools that have been created to realise each stage in the lifecycle. The whole approach is described in the context of different types of typewritten documents relating to prisoners in World-War II concentration camps and is the result of a multinational collaboration under the MEMORIAL project funded (€1.5M) by the European Union (www.memorial-project.info). Extensive tests with historians/archivists and evaluation of the content extraction results indicate the superior performance of the whole semantics-driven approach both over manual transcription and over the semi-automated application of off-the-shelf OCR and the use of a conventional (text and layout) document format.

1991 Path Testing of Computer Programs with Loops Using a Tool for Simple Loop Patterns
abstract
Abstract The purpose of this paper is to present a method for testing computer programs with iteration loops. Given such programs, we have shown that for classes of program paths, identified assequences of simple loop paths, there is a characterizing function called asimple loop pattern. The key idea of simple loop patterns is that these special functions form a base set which can represent any path computation in the given program. A software tool called SILOP has been developed to automatically generate these simple loop patterns, and each corresponding sequence of simple loop paths can be considered as a test case. The tester uses each test case, and with knowledge of the application program, can generate corresponding test data. This paper also presents a method for selecting the specific paths and test data to determine the simple loop pattern reliably. The tester can use this selection method to predict the number of tests required. In order to apply this selection method, the given program must be alinear computer program. The SILOP tool and this test selection method have been applied to commercial software; in this paper, this computational experience is reported and several examples are given to demonstrate the approach.
