| 2022 | A Systematic Literature Review on Technological Solutions to Fight Bullying and Cyberbullying in Academic EnvironmentsabstractNowadays, the world is more connected than ever; the use of internet, social networks and platforms allows for people of all ages to have constant communication. During the past year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, children and teenagers have had to spend most of their time using a technological device, for educational and recreational purposes. This constant connection has carried on several issues, one of them being cyberbullied. This is when a person intentionally and repeatedly harms another one, on a virtual environment. Even with its downside, technology has many advantages; it has allowed for children and teenagers to engage in educational communities and applications. Then, studies on bullying and the ways to fight it exist from many years prior, however, there are little literature about the technological solutions to help in the fight against cyberbullying and bullying. Therefore, the objective of this research is to perform a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) about technological solutions for education and to fight bullying and cyberbullying in children and teenagers. To perform a trustworthy, rigorous and repeatable SLR, the methodology proposed by Kitchenham was used. The presented SLR, uses studies from 2009 to 2021. To start, a group of primary studies was selected, which met the characteristics to answer the research question “What technological tools, methods and models are used to educate about bullying and cyberbullying?” The primary studies were obtained from the most used digital libraries, prominent journals, and most representative conferences in the area. In conclusion, this study provides a global vision of the state of the art in this area, which represents a helpful tool for researchers to detect weaknesses and gaps and open new horizons regarding the use and design of technology to fight bullying and cyberbullying. | 2022 | IMASHEDU: Intelligent MAshups for EDUcation - Towards a Data Mining ApproachabstractNowadays, technological tools greatly support the work of teaching-learning tasks. In this sense, there are various sources of information from which teachers and students rely on to complement their academic activities. Content is sought on the web, significantly updated and easy to understand, generally in the form of videos. As people progress in their learning, they face terms, concepts, and topics that they are not familiar with them. However, those topics are included in the video. In this context, a complex process is generated of alternating sections of the video with other sources of information that explain the related topics and contribute to the understanding of the topic discussed. In this regard, and considering the possibility of systematically consuming information from various sources, it is necessary to build a method and an application that orchestrates the contents of these sources in a convenient, fast and automatic way, according to the person's learning. This proposal contemplates the development of a Mashup. This mashup integrates different data sources in a single graphical interface. Also, it is considered the construction of a core software solution based on text mining techniques. This solution allows extracting the textual content from videos and identifying the terms that could support the knowledge of the topic. It would significantly contribute to the fact that related topics are presented unified in the same interface. At the same time, the learning experience is greatly improved, avoiding losing the common thread of the observed video. Therefore, this article presents a process of orchestrating various data sources in a Web Mashup application. It includes videos available on YouTube channels, with other sources (e.g., Wikipedia, Pinterest) that help understand the topic better, generating hypertext references based on the generation of terms through text mining techniques. A Mathematics Learning mashup has been built to show the proposal’s feasibility. Priscila Cedillo, Pablo Martínez León, Marcos Orellana |

| 2022 | Finding Insights between Active Aging Variables: Towards a Data Mining ApproachabstractSeveral proposals on active aging have been addressed within the psychological field, conceptualizing it satisfactorily as a perspective of aging. Those proposals generate indicators that assess the level of physical health, psychological wellbeing, adequate social adaptation. Physical, cognitive, and functional faculties, interpersonal relationships, and productive activities have been evaluated. Although several technological approaches have been proposed to promote active aging, they have not included a deep understanding of the results obtained from solution implementations. Then, this paper presents the first step towards an approach that uses variables proposed by active aging models (e.g., health, cognition, activity, affection, fitness aspects) to generate knowledge through patterns. These patterns are identified using data obtained through several instruments (i.e., psychological evaluations, health studies, and human experts' contributions). Thus, selecting those variables and evaluating them as future models is necessary. Domain experts perform this evaluation. The evaluation of this proposal has been completed with participants belonging to the health area through a case study. This evaluation generates input data for engineers to apply data mining techniques to reveal strategic knowledge. Finally, from the psychologist's point of view, the results showed that the contribution results are appropriate for achieving healthy aging indicators. | 2022 | Data Mining Techniques for Analysing Data Extracted from Serious Games: A Systematic Literature ReviewabstractSerious games are applications that pursue, on the one hand, the users' entertainment and, on the other hand, look to promote their learning, cognitive stimulation, among reaching other objectives. Moreover, data generated from those games (e.g., demographic information, gaming precision, user efficiency) provide insights helpful in improving certain aspects such as the attention and memory of the gamers. Therefore, applying data mining techniques over those data allows obtaining multiple patterns to improve the game interface, identify preferences, discover, predict, train, and stimulate the users' cognitive situation, among other aspects, to reach the games' objectives. Unfortunately, although several solutions have been addressed about this topic, no secondary studies have been found to condensate research that uses data mining to extract patterns from serious games. Thus, this paper presents a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to extract such evidence from studies reported between 2001 and 2021. Besides, this SLR aims to answer research questions involving serious games solutions that train the cognitive functions of th María-Inés Acosta-Urigüen, Marcos Orellana, Priscila Cedillo |

| 2022 | Analysis of Psychological Test Data by using K-means MethodabstractThe Stroop test also called the colors and words test, is a widely used attention test to detect\nneuropsychological problems. Moreover, the stress test is a psychological instrument used to diagnose the\nlevel of stress and to identify the most common symptoms. This research aims to evaluate whether there is a\nrelationship between the score of the Stroop test and the participant's level of stress. Data are collected through\na web application, where participants answered the stress test and completed the Stroop test. Several variables\nwere collected, such as the precision of each answer, the time spent, and demographic information. The\nmachine learning technique called k-means was applied to process the collected data; the results include\nclusters of unlabeled data to find relationships. The main findings show that a person's stress level is directly\nlinked to the number of correct answers obtained in the Stroop test; according to the clusters that show higher\nstress levels, the number of correct answers decreased progressively Angel Alberto Jiménez Sarango, Andrés Patiño, María-Inés Acosta-Urigüen, Juan Gabriel Flores Sanchez, Priscila Cedillo, Marcos Orellana |

| 2021 | Microlearning Method for Building Learning Capsules for Older AdultsabstractEducation is a universal process that acts on human beings throughout their existence, including their aging stage. In this sense, older adults can learn, communicate, and exchange information through technological applications. However, learning platforms often do not address the specific requirements and special needs of older people. Therefore, it is necessary to have methods and tools that allow the creation of software artifacts, so this sector of the population can acquire new knowledge according to its learning needs. Given these considerations, this document proposes a method for creating learning capsules in the field of microlearning, taking into account accessibility criteria and andragogic techniques that support the learning process of the older adult; it also considers a diffusion plan for apprentices to know and access structured micro-contents. Besides, to show this proposal's use, the step-by-step of creating a learning capsule to be used by older adults is presented. | 2021 | Systematic Literature Review of Internet of Things Solutions Oriented to People with Physical and Intellectual DisabilitiesabstractThe Internet of Things (IoT) has become a revolutionary technology. It allows hundreds of devices to connect and collect information, send and receive data over the internet, and other activities. The IoT has been applied in various fields; one of them is to support people with disabilities. The interconnection of devices has allowed people to develop activities autonomously, improving their quality of life. Although it is an emerging\ntechnology and there are several secondary studies about the collection of evidence on IoT devices, very few are applied to people with disabilities. Based on the systematic review results, taxonomies related to the addressed topic determine research gaps for scientific progress and non-duplication of existing solutions. Thus, this article present the planning stage of a future study presenting IoT solutions applied to people with disabilities, aiming to answer the following research question: What Internet of Things solutions exist for people with disabilities? The results are presented, and the discussion describes the principal features of the IoT solutions oriented to people with physical and intellectual disabilities. | 2020 | Evaluating the Usability of Interactive Digital Television ApplicationsabstractApplications for Interactive Digital Television (IDTV) are becoming increasingly popular. Users no longer interact only with software applications on computers or srnartphones, but also through a television set. Therefore, developers must address efficiency and effectiveness aspects when creating those applications to provide the user with a satisfying interaction experience. Thus, this paper proposes an Application Usability Model for IDTV based on two approaches: the quality of the software product and the quality in the use of the software product. Additionally, the model mainly draws upon the ISO/IEC 25010 standard in which a set of usability characteristics are defined. These characteristics have been divided into subcharacteristics of the IDTV to quantify each of their attributes according to several metrics, and with the obtained values, identify the usability problems that might exist in software applications. For instance, to have a better idea of how the evaluation should be performed, two examples are presented that employ the proposed usability model on applications designed for IDTV from different domains. | 2018 | A Method for Building Massive Open Online Courses for Elderly People MOOCEP: From the User PerceptionsabstractThis Research Full Paper presents the user perceptions when elderly people use a MOOC which was built by using the method for building massive open online courses for elderly people (MOOCEP). Context: Currently, the elderly population has increased in respect to the total population. According to Administration on Aging (AoA) for the year 2060, the elderly population will be double than presented in the results of the last census. Likewise, a reduced proportion of the population of elderly people is involved with technology or have a very close relation with it. However, the universal access to technology is important in the field of education and interactive systems due to the need of promoting the equality of opportunities for all. Moreover, it is considered that the effectiveness of e-Learning consists in knowing about the learning objectives of users and their needs. As a result of that, it is important to know the perceptions when users adopt any technology. The creation of a method for building massive open online courses (MOOCs) for elderly people named MOOCEP considers andragogical strategies to improve learning objects. This methodology has five tasks aligned to ADDIE method (i.e., Analysis, Design, Development, Deployment, and Evaluation). It presents a flexible and extensible solution, adaptable to any specific situation, to design and create effective MOOCs, which takes into consideration, that the e-learning process can vary considerably in complexity and size, depending on interest and needs of its target of people. Objective: In FIE 2017, it was presented the analysis task, which is related to the learning techniques and involves different considerations (i.e., andragogy, accessibility). For this year's FIE, in order to provide evidence on the use of MOOCs built by using MOOCEP, a group of 36 subjects aged from 65 to 85 years old had participated and provided their perceptions and suggestions by means of a questionnaire that allow us to understand the acceptance of the artifacts created by using this method. The user perceptions that have been measured are related to the ease of use, usefulness and the intention to use in the future. Method: In order to perform these tests, the Technological Acceptance Model (TAM) has been employed. Results: The results have been favorable, and they provide insights that the method for building these artifacts allow the creation of easy to use and useful products, which can be considered as good technological elements to be employed for the education of elderly people. Conclusions: The results are positive and concludes that MOOCEP allows the creation of appropriate MOOCs from the elderly people perceptions. | 2017 | MOOCEP: A method for building massive open online courses for elderly people the analysis activityabstractBy the year 2060, the elderly population will double its current size in comparison to the results presented in the last census, according to the Administration on Aging (AoA). By that time an important part of the elderly population will be involved in technology. Moreover, it should be taken into account that the technological needs of elderly people will differ from those of the rest of targets. However, elderly people may not be fully aware of their situation concerning their lifestyle (e.g., own well-being, rights, nutrition); therefore, e-Learning can be used to improve their knowledge and integration with peers. Hence, the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) can work as online resources designed to help expanding the knowledge of elderly people by means of technological tools. Even though a complete method to build MOOCs for elderly people has been proposed previously, this paper details the analysis phase, which constitutes the first step in the method. This proposal will help MOOC developers during the elicitation of the requirements towards building effective MOOCs focused on elderly people. In order to demonstrate the feasibility of this proposal, a MOOC related to nutrition recommendations for elderly people will be presented.
