2024 UCMCTrack: Multi-Object Tracking with Uniform Camera Motion Compensation
abstract
Multi-object tracking (MOT) in video sequences remains a challenging task, especially in scenarios with significant camera movements. This is because targets can drift considerably on the image plane, leading to erroneous tracking outcomes. Addressing such challenges typically requires supplementary appearance cues or Camera Motion Compensation (CMC). While these strategies are effective, they also introduce a considerable computational burden, posing challenges for real-time MOT. In response to this, we introduce UCMCTrack, a novel motion model-based tracker robust to camera movements. Unlike conventional CMC that computes compensation parameters frame-by-frame, UCMCTrack consistently applies the same compensation parameters throughout a video sequence. It employs a Kalman filter on the ground plane and introduces the Mapped Mahalanobis Distance (MMD) as an alternative to the traditional Intersection over Union (IoU) distance measure. By leveraging projected probability distributions on the ground plane, our approach efficiently captures motion patterns and adeptly manages uncertainties introduced by homography projections. Remarkably, UCMCTrack, relying solely on motion cues, achieves state-of-the-art performance across a variety of challenging datasets, including MOT17, MOT20, DanceTrack and KITTI. 2024 Towards Consistent Object Detection via LiDAR-Camera Synergy
abstract
As human-machine interaction continues to evolve, the capacity for environmental perception is becoming increasingly crucial. Integrating the two most common types of sensory data, images, and point clouds, can enhance detection accuracy. Currently, there is no existing model capable of detecting an object's position in both point clouds and images while also determining their corresponding relationship. This information is invaluable for human-machine interactions, offering new possibilities for their enhancement. In light of this, this paper introduces an end-to-end Consistency Object Detection (COD) algorithm framework that requires only a single forward inference to simultaneously obtain an object's position in both point clouds and images and establish their correlation. Furthermore, to assess the accuracy of the object correlation between point clouds and images, this paper proposes a new evaluation metric, Consistency Precision (CP). To verify the effectiveness of the proposed framework, an extensive set of experiments has been conducted on the KITTI and DAIR-V2X datasets. The study also explored how the proposed consistency detection method performs on images when the calibration parameters between images and point clouds are disturbed, compared to existing post-processing methods. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method exhibits ex-cellent detection performance and robustness, achieving end-to-end consistency detection. The source code will be made publicly available at https://github.com/xifen523/COD.

2022 Development of a Safety Prediction Method for Arterial Roads Based on Big-Data Technology and Stacked AutoEncoder-Gated Recurrent Unit
abstract
Modern complexities associated with an arterial traffic makes existing safety prediction methods insufficient to meet desired standards required by recent developmental needs. This paper proposes an enhanced active safety prediction method based on big-data approach and Stacked AutoEncoder-Gated Recurrent Unit. Firstly, the big-data technology is used to construct a dynamic identification model to recognize real-time operation state and risk state. Secondly, the Stacked AutoEncoder-Gated Recurrent Unit is used to predict a level of safety based on associated recognition results. This paper uses data from working days of Sunset Boulevard, California, from January$1^{\mathrm{st}}$, 2020, to February$28^{\mathrm{th}}$, 2020. The results of analysis show that the accuracy of the proposed dynamic recognition model reaches 98.92%, which is better than existing models such as random forest, K-nearest neighbor, and naïve Bayes models. In addition, it is found that the Stacked AutoEncoder-Gated Recurrent Unit can achieve a prediction accuracy of 95.157% and has significant advantages in terms of efficiency. The proposed methods will provide feasible solutions for actively monitoring safety levels.

2013 PARED: A testbed with parallel reprogramming and multi-channel debugging for WSNs
abstract
Testbed plays an invaluable role in facilitating research and development of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). A WSN testbed involves three fundamental tasks, which are reprogramming the WSN nodes, debugging the WSN applications and observing the status of the WSN nodes. In this paper, we propose a testbed with parallel reprogramming and multi-channel debugging capabilities (PARED) to meet the challenge behind those tasks. A parallel reprogramming mechanism is properly designed, which can reprogram all the nodes simultaneously and significantly diminishes the time wasted in WSN application deployment. PARED provides multichannel debugging support allowing users to set the debugging channel. PARED is also capable of observing the energy consumption of the sensor node along with its status information. We have deployed PARED in our laboratory at the scale of 50 nodes and a series of experiments have been conducted which proved that it is a reliable and convenient infrastructure for WSN research.
