2025 Evaluating the Technology Acceptance of MundoCRA: A Virtual Learning Environment for Primary Education
abstract
Virtual Learning Environments (VLE) are present in all educational modalities and levels, but their adoption in primary education remains limited. This article evaluates the acceptance of MundoCRA, a VLE that enriches traditional classrooms through a virtual world where students perform educational tasks in an engaging way. Gamified activities with rewards, points, and certificates promote motivation through quizzes, challenges, and collaborative projects. MundoCRA also includes a management module that allows teachers to create and monitor tasks easily. The evaluation, based on an extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), considers constructs such as perceived enjoyment, satisfaction, and gender differences. A survey of 20 teachers and 30 students from the Rural Grouped School (CRA) Sierra de Alcaraz (Spain) revealed that MundoCRA increased motivation, satisfaction, and enjoyment. Furthermore, structural equation modeling showed that perceived enjoyment and ease of use significantly influenced positive attitudes toward the platform, explaining over 70% of the variance in user attitudes.

2022 Deep learning assisted cognitive diagnosis for the D-Riska application
abstract
Abstract In this article, we expose a system developed that extends the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) diagnostic application known as D-Riska with an artificial intelligence module that supports the diagnosis of ABI enabling therapists to evaluate patients in an assisted way. The application is in charge of collecting the data of the diagnostic tests of the patients, and due to a multi-class Convolutional Neural Network classifier (CNN), it is capable of making predictions that facilitate the diagnosis and the final score obtained in the test by the patient. To find out the best solution to this problem, different classifiers are used to compare the performance of the proposed model based on various classification metrics. The proposed CNN classifier makes predictions with 93 % of Accuracy, 94 % of Precision, 91 %, of Recall and 92% of F1-Score.

2021 A domain specific language notation for a language learning activity generation tool
abstract
Abstract Globalization has increased the need for society to master new languages. This need has encouraged the launch of many applications dedicated to language learning. This paper presents a graphical notation for a domain specific language to represent language learning activities. It describes how this notation enables developers to represent language learning activity characteristics using workflow, presentation, content, media and activity model conforming a metamodel that defines the abstract syntax of the domain specific language. This notation is implemented as part of an integrated development environment to build model-based applications. Finally, this proposal is evaluated with a framework that uses the cognitive dimensions of notations for notational systems. The proposed graphic diagram editor exceeds the experience that the user has with the reflexive model editor. In relation to the creation and editing of workflow models and presentation/activity models, the proposed graphical notation its more intuitive and easy to maintain visually than the traditional reflexive tree notation used by many model-based development frameworks.

2018 User-Centered Design of a Service-Oriented Application to Help People with Memory Limitations
abstract
This article describes the user-centered design of a service-oriented application to help people with memory limitations called Forgettify. Forgettify is an Android app that consumes REST services, which are managed by means of a Web client. The app provides a set of video guides that are used by people with memory limitations. The Web client is the tool used by professionals and family to customize the Android app. This application has been designed and developed using a User-Centered Design process inspired in the Usability Engineering Lifecycle. The article includes a preliminary user evaluation that shows the benefits of the proposal.

2012 A Proposal to Validate the User's Goal in Distributed User Interfaces
abstract
Traditional user interfaces are evolving toward “distributed” user interfaces according to the new technological advances, allowing one or more interaction elements distributed among many different platforms in order to support interaction with one or more users. In this new scenario, the Abstract User Interface (AUI) model has been reviewed and modified to include specific characteristics from the Distributed User Interface (DUI) point of view. This article proposes a new AUI that takes into account the possibility of distribution. Before presenting this new AUI model, the article introduces the definition of the DUI concept and its foundations using a formal notation. Together with the new AUI model, a double hierarchy of user interfaces and targets has been defined, so the type of distribution can be verified using the concept of finality introduced as an algorithm in this article. With this new algorithm it is possible to test whether a given DUI (multiple devices, multiple user interfaces) supports the user's goal in the system.

2010 WallShare: a multi-pointer system for portable devices
abstract
WallShare introduces a new system to improve the collaboration possibilities among the participants in face-to-face meetings and working groups. It defines an novel interaction device and platform to develop collaborative applications. The system provides a shared zone displayed by a projector over a wall. Through their cursors and mobile devices users are capable of post notes and messages, and sharing files, such as documents, images, etc. This article also exposes a preliminary usability evaluation of WallShare showing the effectiveness, productivity and satisfaction of users.

2010 Co-interactive table: a new facility to improve collaborative meetings
abstract
Co-Interactive Table is a client-server system designed to facilitate collaborative tasks in any kind of meeting such as sharing information and files among the participants using simple, natural and intuitive gestures. We have used technology based on mobile devices and RFID to implement the system. The system is composed of panels (one per user) forming the interactive table. A projector connected to a PC updates instantly the information generated in the meeting such as notes, ideas and the specific information of each participant. All devices used in the meeting room are connected via Wi-Fi to the Co-Interactive Table server. This server is responsible for providing important web services that coordinate and control the system performance. Besides, the system offers the possibility of performing remote meetings without losing functionality. The Co-interactive table client application runs on mobile devices with RFID reader. The system can recognize the service required by the user with a gesture as simple and natural as bringing the mobile device near the interactive table to select the desired action.

2010 Multi-pointer and collaborative system for mobile devices
abstract
We introduce a new system to improve the collaboration possibilities among the participants in face-to-face meetings and working groups, called WallShare. WallShare is a new interaction device and a new platform to develop collaborative applications. The proposed system provides a shared zone that is displayed by a projector over a wall. Users can collaborate through the shared zone using their own mobile devices, such as mobile phones, PDAs, laptops and so on. To use the shared zone, users have their own cursors that allow them to share any kind of files, such as images, or documents. WallShare has been proved helpful to support distributed user interfaces. The usability evaluation also showed us that WallShare users' can perform a set of tasks with effectiveness, productivity and satisfaction.
