| 2015 | Realization of 4-by-4 MIMO channel using one composite leaky coaxial cableabstractLeaky coaxial cable (LCX) is widely used for wireless communication systems as an antenna for a linear-cell, which covers long and shallow areas. Since one LCX is usually utilized as one antenna, more than one LCX is required to configure a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system. It means it is costly and space-consuming. To resolve these problems, we proposed a novel MIMO method for LCX. In this paper, we propose the method to utilize one composite cable, which consists of a pair of LCXs with different radiation characteristics, to configure a 4 × 4 MIMO channel. The measurement results confirmed that the proposed composite cable can realize a good channel condition for 4 × 4 MIMO transmission even if it is put in an anechoic chamber where no reflection path exists. On the other hand, the results also confirmed that it has good channel condition even if the spacing between a pair of LCX is as small as 2cm for the 5GHz band. Therefore the proposed system can reduce the space requirement for MIMO deployment for wireless application over linear-cell environments to cope with the high rapid increase of consumer electronics devices. | 1998 | A Top-down Hardware/Software Co-Simulation Method for Embedded Systems Based Upon a Component Logical Bus ArchitectureabstractWe propose a top-down hardware/software co-simulation method for embedded systems and introduce a component logical bus architecture as an interface between software components and hardware components. Co-simulation using a component logical bus architecture is possible in the same environment from the stage at which the processor is not yet determined to the stage at which the processor is modeled in register transfer language. A model whose design is based on a component logical bus architecture is replaceable and reusable. By combining such replaceable models, it is possible to quickly realize seamless co-simulation. We further describe experimental results of our approach. Mitsuhiro Yasuda, Katsuhiko Seo, Hisao Koizumi, Barry Shackleford, Fumio Suzuki |

| 1993 | The Model, Language, and Implementation of an Object-Oriented Multimedia Knowledge Base Management SystemabstractNew applications such as CAD, AI, and hypermedia require direct representation and flexible use of complex objects, behavioral knowledge, and multimedia data. To this end, we have devised a knowledge base management system called Jasmine. An object-oriented approach in a programming language also seems promising for use in Jasmine. Jasmine extends the current object-oriented approach and provides the following features. Our object model is based on functional data models and well-established set theory. Attributes or functions composing objects can represent both structural and behavioral knowledge. The object model can represent incomplete and generic knowledge. The model can support the basic storage and operations of multimedia data. The facets of attributes can flexibly represent constraints and triggers. The object manipulation language can support associative access of objects. The structural and behavioral knowledge can be uniformly treated to allow the user to specify complex object operations in a compact manner. The user-defined and system-defined attributes can be uniformly specified to ease user customization of the language. The classes and instances can be uniformly accessed. Incomplete knowledge can be flexibly accessed. The system has a layered architecture. Objects are stored in nested relations provided by extensive DBMS as a sublayer. User query of objects is compiled into relational operations such as select and join, which can be efficiently processed using hashing. The behavioral knowledge is compiled into predicate and manipulation function interfaces that can directly access tuples in a buffer.— Authors' Abstract Hiroshi Ishikawa 0004, Fumio Suzuki, Fumihiko Kozakura, Akifumi Makinouchi, Mika Miyagishima, Yoshio Izumida, Masaaki Aoshima, Yasuo Yamane |
