2015 High-Speed Image Registration Algorithm with Subpixel Accuracy
abstract
A new, fast and computationally efficient lateral subpixel shift registration algorithm is presented. It is limited to register images that differ by small subpixel shifts otherwise its performance degrades. This algorithm significantly improves the performance of the single-step discrete Fourier transform approach proposed by Guizar-Sicairos and can be applied efficiently on large dimension images. It reduces the dimension of Fourier transform of the cross correlation matrix and reduces the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) matrix multiplications to speed up the registration process. Simulations show that our algorithm reduces computation time and memory requirements without sacricing the accuracy associated with the usual FFT approach accuracy.

2002 A new impulse detector for switching median filters
abstract
A new impulse noise detection technique for switching median filters is presented, which is based on the minimum absolute value of four convolutions obtained using one-dimensional Laplacian operators. Extensive simulations show that the proposed filter provides better performance than many of the existing switching median filters with comparable computational complexity. In particular, the proposed filter is directed toward improved line preservation.

1999 Effects of source traffic shaping on MPEG video transmission over next generation IP networks
abstract
The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has defined the integrated services model for supporting real-time services. Guaranteed service is one of these services with firm delay and bandwidth guarantees. Before setting up a guaranteed service flow, traffic parameters of the source have to be specified in terms of token bucket traffic descriptors. The source must conform to these descriptors by shaping its traffic. In this paper, we study the effects of a token bucket traffic shaper at the source on the transmission characteristics of Motion Picture Experts Group (MPEG) video streams over the guaranteed service. For different types of MPEG video sequences, the effects of the shaper parameters on the transmission performance are studied. We develop an analytical model of the traffic shaper, and also carry out numerical simulation of the transmission performance to verify the analytical model. Our study also provides a technique to analyze stored MPEG video sequences to determine the token bucket traffic descriptors that have to be specified during flow set up.

1999 Euclidean distance transform by stack filters
abstract
Euclidean distance transform (EDT) using a gray-scale morphological erosion with a large distance structuring element is difficult to implement in real-time. Herein, a stack filtering method that permits the implementation of EDT in real-time using only binary logic gates is proposed. This letter reports a fast errorless method for EDT implementation.

1996 Electrooptic displays for optical information processing
abstract
Two primary applications of display devices are reviewed: display for visualization and spatial light modulation. Important static and dynamic display parameters are discussed. Matrix computations and programmable logic array applications are highlighted.
