2024 HD-IOV: SW-HW Co-designed I/O Virtualization with Scalability and Flexibility for Hyper-Density Cloud
abstract
As the resource density of cloud servers increases, cloud providers deploy hundreds of VMs concurrently on a single server, requiring a high-performance, scalable, flexible and high-density I/O virtualization method. Hardware assisted virtualization such as device pass-through with SR-IOV can achieve near-native performance, however, at the expense of flexibility and a limited device count. Traditional software-based I/O virtualization systems tend to dedicate additional computing cores for higher performance, but suffer from critical scalability problems especially in high-density cloud.

2023 Compatibility Study between 5G in 40.5-43.5 GHz and Fixed Satellite Service in 39.5-40.5 GHz
abstract
The scarcity of spectrum resources has brought obstacles to the rapid development of International Mobile Telecommunication (IMT) to a certain extent. It is critical to study the coexistence of IMT and other radio services. In this paper, the compatibility between the fifth generation (5G) in 40.5-43.5 GHz and the uncoordinated fixed satellite service (FSS) earth station in 39.5-40.5 GHz is studied. The latest parameters from Electronic Communications Committee (ECC) Project Team 1 (PT1) and the updated propagation model from Study Group 3 of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) are used in this study. Simulation results show that 5G in this frequency band can coexist with uncoordinated FSS earth station in the adjacent band.

2023 Coexistence Study of 5G in 10-10.5 GHz and Passive Earth Exploration-Satellite Service in 10.6-10.7 GHz
abstract
The scarcity of spectrum resources results in increasingly fierce spectrum competition in radio services to a certain extent. It is essential to research the coexistence between various radio services for making effective and cooperative utilization of spectrum resources. Also, to protect existing science services, the compatibility between the fifth generation (5G) in 1010.5 GHz and passive Earth exploration-satellite service (EESS) in 10.6-10.7 GHz is studied in this paper. The newest parameters and updated propagation model are utilized, and a typical large study area scenario is assessed by using the Monte Carlo simulation method in this study. The results show that sharing between 5G operating in the 10-10.5 GHz frequency range and passive EESS operating in 10.6-10.7 GHz is feasible if mitigation measures are considered in accordance with the actual deployment requirements.

2023 The Sharing Studies between IMT-2020 and Fixed-Satellite Service in the 6GHz band
abstract
Due to the rapidly growth of IMT-2020, spectrum resource is an important point for future development. In World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 (WRC-19), ITU-R has proposed 6425-7025MHz (region 1), 7025-7125MHz (globally) frequency bands for IMT-2020 (5G), and called for conduct the sharing studies in these candidate bands. This paper explores the possible of compatibility and sharing analyses between IMT2020 and Fixed-satellite service (FSS) uplink in the 6GHz band. Specifically, the overall interferences of IMT-2020 macro base stations (BSs) to FSS space station are studied based on Monte Carlo methodology. According to simulation results, it is possible for IMT-2020 and FSS space station to share this 6GHz frequency band without risk.

2021 Performance Analysis of Open-Source Hypervisors for Automotive Systems
abstract
Nowadays, automotive products are intelligence intensive and thus inevitably handle multiple functionalities under the current high-speed networking environment. The embedded virtualization has high potentials in the automotive industry, thanks to its advantages in function integration, resource utilization, and security. The invention of ARM virtualization extensions has made it possible to run open-source hypervisors, such as Xen and KVM, for embedded applications. Nevertheless, there is little work to investigate the performance of these hypervisors on automotive platforms. This paper presents a detailed analysis of different types of open-source hypervisors that can be applied in the ARM platform. We carry out the virtualization performance experiment from the perspectives of CPU, memory, file I/O, and some OS operation performance on Xen and Jailhouse. A series of microbenchmark programs have been designed, specifically to evaluate the real-time performance of various hypervisors and the relevant overhead. Compared with Xen, Jailhouse has better latency performance, stable latency, and little interference jitter. The performance experiment results help us summarize the advantages and disadvantages of these hypervisors in automotive applications.

2016 Large Scale Parallel Computing for Fluid Dynamics on Unstructured Grid
abstract
Massive parallel computational fluid dynamics is a vital tool for the modern aviation industry. The parallel aerodynamics numerical simulation software based on unstructured mixed grid and cell-centered finite volume method (FVM) was presented in this paper, which was developed for the complicated configurations of industrial grade. The algorithms for parallel implementation with message passing interface (MPI), including compact numerical discrete schemes, grid partition method for multi-processors and data transfer scheme, are discussed in detail. The validity of parallel computing is verified using a revolving model of relatively small grid. Then a large transport airplane configuration with hundred millions of grid elements is used for parallel testing, and the efficiency is preserved above 80% up to 18816 processors.
