2024 Employees' BYOD Security Policy Compliance in the Public Sector
abstract
The proliferation of the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy has instigated a widespread change across organizations. However, employees’ compliance toward BYOD security policy remains a challenge. Building on the organizational control, security culture, and social cognitive theory, a research framework for analyzing BYOD security policy compliance factors was developed in this study. To validate the framework, 346 responses were obtained from three Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) agencies. Using Partial Least Square-Sequential Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), the study confirmed that perceived mandatoriness, self-efficacy, and psychological ownership are influential in predicting BYOD security policy compliance. Specification of policy is associated with perceived mandatoriness. Self-efficacy is associated with both BYOD IT support and SETA. Further, security culture was found to have no significant relationship with BYOD security policy compliance.

2022 BYOD Policy Compliance: Risks and Strategies in Organizations
abstract
The proliferation of mobile devices has brought the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend in organizations, along with significant challenges when employees fail to comply with security policies. Previous reviews in this research area had focused solely on the technical issues surrounding BYOD implementation while leaving out the human behavior in complying with security policies which is a major contributing factor to security vulnerabilities. In this paper, we systematically review the literature to gather evidences related to security risks, challenges posed by employees’ security policy noncompliance behavior and mitigation strategies to address them. The risks are mapped according to the People, Process and Technology (PPT) Model. The review reports that security policy compliance in a BYOD environment remains scarce which makes this review a novel contribution to research on human security behavior in Information System (IS). In addition, open research problems and future research directions are presented in the paper.

2016 Service delivery models of cloud computing: security issues and open challenges
abstract
Abstract Cloud computing represents the most recent enterprise trend in information technology and refers to the virtualization of computing resources that are available on demand. Cloud computing saves cost and time for businesses. Moreover, this computing process reflects a radical technological revolution in how companies develop, deploy, and manage enterprise applications over the Internet. Virtualized cloud computing mainly offers cloud‐computing delivery models such as software as a service, platform as a service, and infrastructure as a service. Security and privacy are presently considered critical factors in the adaptation of any cloud‐service delivery model. Cloud computing leverages several technologies; in the process, this model can inherit potential security threats. Thus far, security issues in cloud computing have rarely been addressed at the service delivery level. Key security concerns include Web application security, network security, data security, integration, vulnerabilities in the virtualized environment, and physical security. The aim of this research is to comprehensively present the security threats with respect to their cloud service deliver models. This study also determines how service delivery models differ from existing enterprise applications, classify these models, and investigate the inherent security challenges. This study primarily focuses on the security concerns of each layer of the cloud‐service delivery model, as well as on existing solutions and approaches. In addition, countermeasures to potential security threats are also presented for each cloud model. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

2015 Evaluation and selection of open-source EMR software packages based on integrated AHP and TOPSIS
abstract
Evaluating and selecting software packages that meet the requirements of an organization are difficult aspects of software engineering process. Selecting the wrong open-source EMR software package can be costly and may adversely affect business processes and functioning of the organization. This study aims to evaluate and select open-source EMR software packages based on multi-criteria decision-making. A hands-on study was performed and a set of open-source EMR software packages were implemented locally on separate virtual machines to examine the systems more closely. Several measures as evaluation basis were specified, and the systems were selected based a set of metric outcomes using Integrated Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and TOPSIS. The experimental results showed that GNUmed and OpenEMR software can provide better basis on ranking score records than other open-source EMR software packages.

2013 A more secure and scalable routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks
abstract
ABSTRACT An essential problem in mobile ad hoc networks is finding an efficient and secure route from a source to an intended destination. In this paper, we have proposed a new model of routing protocol named ARANz, which is an extension of the original Authenticated Routing for Ad Hoc Networks (ARAN). ARANz adopts the authentication methods used with ARAN and aims to increase security, achieve robustness and solve the single point of failure and attack problems by introducing multiple local certificate authority servers. Additionally, via dealing with the network as zones and using restricted directional flooding, our new model exhibits better scalability and performance. Through simulation, we evaluated ARANz and compared it with the original ARAN as well as Ad Hoc On‐demand Distance Vector. Simulation results show that ARANz is able to effectively discover secure routes within relatively large networks with large number of mobile nodes, while maintaining the minimum packet routing load.
