2026 Data-Driven Detection and Capacity Estimation of User-Side Photovoltaics in Active Distribution Networks
abstract
With the increasing integration of low-voltage distributed photovoltaics (PVs), effective nonintrusive detection methods of user-side PV have become critical for the operators of active distribution networks. However, existing methods are mostly offline, requiring long-term data accumulation and lacking rapid response capability. This study proposes a data-driven method for fast detection and capacity estimation of user-side PVs. A cloud-edge collaborative framework is constructed to maximize the utilization of data features from smart meters. Within this framework, a lightweight rolling detection and capacity estimation method is proposed, reducing the required data volume and thus enhancing efficiency. A validation model based on historical data is developed in addition to ensuring the reliability of estimation results. Case studies verify that, with only 4 h of data, the proposed method can attain accuracies similar to existing methods that require multiple days of data. In addition, it can capture the uncertain variations in PV capacity within a short time, enabling operational applications such as PV monitoring and control in active distribution networks.

2025 NciaNet: A Non-Covalent Interaction-Aware Graph Neural Network for the Prediction of Protein-Ligand Interaction in Drug Discovery
abstract
Precise quantification of protein-ligand interaction is critical in early-stage drug discovery. Artificial intelligence (AI) has gained massive popularity in this area, with deep-learning models used to extract features from ligand and protein molecules. However, these models often fail to capture intermolecular non-covalent interactions, the primary factor influencing binding, leading to lower accuracy and interpretability. Moreover, such models overlook the spatial structure of protein-ligand complexes, resulting in weaker generalization. To address these issues, we propose Non-covalent Interaction-aware Graph Neural Network (NciaNet), a novel method that effectively utilizes intermolecular non-covalent interactions and 3D protein-ligand structure. Our approach achieves excellent predictive performance on multiple benchmark datasets and outperforms competitive baseline models in the binding affinity task, with the benchmark core set v.2016 achieving an RMSE of 1.208 and an R of 0.833, and the core set v.2013 achieving an RMSE of 1.409 and an R of 0.805, under the high-quality refined v.2016 training conditions. Importantly, NciaNet successfully learns vital features related to protein-ligand interactions, providing biochemical insights and demonstrating practical utility and reliability.

2024 Producing and Leveraging Online Map Uncertainty in Trajectory Prediction
abstract
High-definition (HD) maps have played an integral role in the development of modern autonomous vehicle (AV) stacks, albeit with high associated labeling and maintenance costs. As a result, many recent works have proposed methods for estimating HD maps online from sensor data, enabling AVs to operate outside of previously-mapped regions. However, current online map estimation approaches are developed in isolation of their downstream tasks, complicating their integration in AV stacks. In particular, they do not produce uncertainty or confidence estimates. In this work, we extend multiple state-of-the-art online map estimation methods to additionally estimate uncertainty and show how this enables more tightly integrating online mapping with trajectory forecasting11Code: https://github.com/alfredgu001324/MapUncertaintyPrediction. In doing so, we find that incorporating uncertainty yields up to 50% faster training convergence and up to 15% better prediction performance on the real-world nuScenes driving dataset.

2023 trajdata: A Unified Interface to Multiple Human Trajectory Datasets
abstract
The field of trajectory forecasting has grown significantly in recent years, partially owing to the release of numerous large-scale, real-world human trajectory datasets for autonomous vehicles (AVs) and pedestrian motion tracking. While such datasets have been a boon for the community, they each use custom and unique data formats and APIs, making it cumbersome for researchers to train and evaluate methods across multiple datasets. To remedy this, we present trajdata: a unified interface to multiple human trajectory datasets. At its core, trajdata provides a simple, uniform, and efficient representation and API for trajectory and map data. As a demonstration of its capabilities, in this work we conduct a comprehensive empirical evaluation of existing trajectory datasets, providing users with a rich understanding of the data underpinning much of current pedestrian and AV motion forecasting research, and proposing suggestions for future datasets from these insights. trajdata is permissively licensed (Apache 2.0) and can be accessed online at https://github.com/NVlabs/trajdata.

2021 Data-Driven Adaptive Operation of Soft Open Points in Active Distribution Networks
abstract
The integration of soft open point (SOP) effectively improves the flexibility of active distribution networks (ADNs). However, in practical operation, accurate network parameters are difficult to obtain and the operation state changes rapidly with distributed generators (DGs). With the development of information technologies, massive operation data can be acquired in ADNs. How to utilize multisource data has become the key to realize the intelligent operation of ADNs. This article proposes a data-driven operation strategy of SOP based on model-free adaptive control (MFAC). First, considering the inaccurate parameters and frequent change of operation states, a data-driven framework is formulated for the real-time operation of SOP. Then, the operation strategies of multiple SOPs are further improved with interarea coordination. The results of case studies show that driven by the measurement data, the potential benefits of SOPs are explored to adaptively respond to system state changes and improve the operational performance of ADNs.
