2026 CPOStream: Collaborating Prediction and Observation for Flicker-Free Streamable Free-Viewpoint Video with 3DGS
abstract
3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has recently demonstrated significant potential for streaming dynamic scenes, enabling the synthesis of photo-realistic and real-time free-viewpoint videos (FVVs). Conventional streaming pipelines optimize each frame independently, i.e., the attribute of the 3D Gaussians (3DGs) responsible for the static regions are supposed to be identical across all frames but are changed in the optimization process, thus causing temporal color inconsistency and visual flickering artifacts in the static regions. To tackle this, we propose CPOStream, which utilizes a prediction and observation module to determine the state of 3DG. Specifically, the prediction module records those 3DGs that are inactive in the past K frames and those would be ignored in the optimization process of the current frame reconstruction. Thus, the attributes of those 3DGs would be kept consistent across the past K frames, guaranteeing the temporal consistence. Additionally, the observation module conducts motion detection, and recognizes those new 3DGs which are not recorded in the prediction module and are first detected by the observation module in the past K frames. The attributes of those 3DGs are optimized during the current frame reconstruction. Experiments on multiple real-world FVV benchmarks show that CPOStream substantially reduces temporal flickering and improves reconstruction fidelity, achieving state‑of‑the‑art performance.

2025 APasco: High Fidelity Audio-Driven Portrait Animation Based on Audio-Lip Multi-Head Cross-Attention and 3D Dense Geometric Prior
abstract
Audio-driven portrait animation has achieved significant advances propelled by the development of diffusion models. Despite remarkable improvements in driving capability and temporal consistency, diffusion model-based methods still suffer from audio-lip misalignment and facial detail loss. To address them, we present a novel stable diffusion-based approach by conditioning on aligned audio-lip features and 3D dense sequential geometry features. Specifically, we enhance phoneme-lip synchronization by coupling fine-grained local lip features with corresponding audio details with the designed Audio-Lip multi-head Cross-Attention module. To improve the facial local details, we derive 3D dense sequential geometry features from 3D dense geometric prior via the developed Mesh Spatio-Temporal Encoder. Extensive experiments on public benchmarks demonstrate that APasco achieves superior performance in both visual quality and lip-sync accuracy compared to existing approaches. 2025 Online Differentially Private Conformal Prediction for Uncertainty Quantification
abstract
Traditional conformal prediction faces significant challenges with the rise of streaming data and increasing concerns over privacy. In this paper, we introduce a novel online differentially private conformal prediction framework, designed to construct dynamic, model-free private prediction sets. Unlike existing approaches that either disregard privacy or require full access to the entire dataset, our proposed method ensures individual privacy with a one-pass algorithm, ideal for real-time, privacy-preserving decision-making. Theoretically, we establish guarantees for long-run coverage at the nominal confidence level. Moreover, we extend our method to conformal quantile regression, which is fully adaptive to heteroscedasticity. We validate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed method through comprehensive simulations and real-world studies on the ELEC2 and PAMAP2 datasets.

2025 Sampling-guided Heterogeneous Graph Neural Network with Temporal Smoothing for Scalable Longitudinal Data Imputation
abstract
In this paper, we propose a novel framework, the Sampling-guided Heterogeneous Graph Neural Network (HT-GNN), to effectively tackle the challenge of missing data imputation in longitudinal studies. Unlike traditional methods, which often require extensive preprocessing to handle irregular or inconsistent missing data, our approach accommodates arbitrary missing data patterns while maintaining computational efficiency. HT-GNN models both observations and covariates as distinct node types, connecting observation nodes at successive time points through subject-specific longitudinal subnetworks, while covariate-observation interactions are represented by attributed edges within bipartite graphs. By leveraging subject-wise mini-batch sampling and a multi-layer temporal smoothing mechanism, HT-GNN efficiently scales to large datasets, while effectively learning node representations and imputing missing data. Extensive experiments on both synthetic and real-world datasets, including the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (DNI) dataset, demonstrate that HT-GNN significantly outperforms existing imputation methods, even with high missing data rates (e.g., 80%). The empirical results highlight HT-GNN's robust imputation capabilities and superior performance, particularly in the context of complex, large-scale longitudinal data.

2025 Online robust locally differentially private learning for nonparametric regression
abstract
The growing prevalence of streaming data and increasing concerns over data privacy pose significant challenges for traditional nonparametric regression methods, which are often ill-suited for real-time, privacy-aware learning. In this paper, we tackle these issues by first proposing a novel one-pass online functional stochastic gradient descent algorithm that leverages the Huber loss (H-FSGD), to improve robustness against outliers and heavy-tailed errors in dynamic environments. To further accommodate privacy constraints, we introduce a locally differentially private extension, Private H-FSGD (PH-FSGD), designed to real-time, privacy-preserving estimation. Theoretically, we conduct a comprehensive non-asymptotic convergence analysis of the proposed estimators, establishing finite-sample guarantees and identifying optimal step size schedules that achieve optimal convergence rates. In particular, we provide practical insights into the impact of key hyperparameters, such as step size and privacy budget, on convergence behavior. Extensive experiments validate our theoretical findings, demonstrating that our methods achieve strong robustness and privacy protection without sacrificing efficiency.

2025 Online Locally Differentially Private Conformal Prediction via Binary Inquiries
abstract
We propose an online conformal prediction framework under local differential privacy to address the emerging challenge of privacy-preserving uncertainty quantification in streaming data environments. Our method constructs dynamic, model-free prediction sets based on randomized binary inquiries, ensuring rigorous privacy protection without requiring access to raw data. Importantly, the proposed algorithm can be conducted in a one-pass online manner, leading to high computational efficiency and minimal storage requirements with $\mathcal{O}(1)$ space complexity, making it particularly suitable for real-time applications. The proposed framework is also broadly applicable to both regression and classification tasks, adapting flexibly to diverse predictive settings. We establish theoretical guarantees for long-run coverage at a target confidence level, ensuring statistical reliability under strict privacy constraints. Extensive empirical evaluations on both simulated and real-world datasets demonstrate that the proposed method delivers accurate, stable, and privacy-preserving predictions across a range of dynamic environments.

2024 Inference on High-dimensional Single-index Models with Streaming Data
abstract
Traditional statistical methods are faced with new challenges due to streaming data. The major challenge is the rapidly growing volume and velocity of data, which makes storing such huge data sets in memory impossible. The paper presents an online inference framework for regression parameters in high-dimensional semiparametric single-index models with unknown link functions. The proposed online procedure updates only the current data batch and summary statistics of historical data instead of re-accessing the entire raw data set. At the same time, we do not need to estimate the unknown link function, which is a highly challenging task. In addition, a generalized convex loss function is used in the proposed inference procedure. To illustrate the proposed method, we use the Huber loss function and the negative log-likelihood of the logistic regression model. In this study, the asymptotic normality of the proposed online debiased Lasso estimators and the bounds of the proposed online Lasso estimators are investigated. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, extensive simulation studies have been conducted. We provide applications to Nasdaq stock prices and financial distress data sets.

2022 Word Embeddings via Causal Inference: Gender Bias Reducing and Semantic Information Preserving
abstract
With widening deployments of natural language processing (NLP) in daily life, inherited social biases from NLP models have become more severe and problematic. Previous studies have shown that word embeddings trained on human-generated corpora have strong gender biases that can produce discriminative results in downstream tasks. Previous debiasing methods focus mainly on modeling bias and only implicitly consider semantic information while completely overlooking the complex underlying causal structure among bias and semantic components. To address these issues, we propose a novel methodology that leverages a causal inference framework to effectively remove gender bias. The proposed method allows us to construct and analyze the complex causal mechanisms facilitating gender information flow while retaining oracle semantic information within word embeddings. Our comprehensive experiments show that the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art results in gender-debiasing tasks. In addition, our methods yield better performance in word similarity evaluation and various extrinsic downstream NLP tasks.
