2026 SCSV: Spatial-Temporal Consistent Dynamic 3D Scene Generation From Sparse Views
abstract
Generating dynamic scenes from images has gained increasing attention. Existing methods have two major limitations: 1) they can hardly handle sparse images which exhibit limited geometry constraints and insufficient motion; 2) they struggle to maintain spatial-temporal consistency when rendering multi-view videos. To address these limitations, we propose SCSV, a spatial-temporal consistent dynamic scene generation method from sparse views. Our method consists of two stages: scene reconstruction and scene expansion, both of which decouple background and foreground. In the scene reconstruction stage, we first interpolate a set of images between the input images based on a video generation model, followed by the optimization of the scene Gaussian from the interpolated and input images. To improve the spatial-temporal consistency of the reconstructed scene, we propose an uncertainty-aware Gaussian training approach, which introduces adaptive weights of images and pixels. In the scene expansion stage, for background, we render novel views and refine them with a geometry-aware diffusion process. These refined images are then used to incrementally add the Gaussians. As to foreground, we generate human motion according to previous motion, enabling temporal coherent generation of motion. To further enhance the physical plausibility, we integrate the expanded foreground into the background using a gravity-aware alignment. Experiments on NeuMan, Bonn, and EMDB datasets demonstrate that our SCSV achieves superior performance compared to state-of-the-art methods. The code will be released upon acceptance.

2026 POSITION: Open World 3D Scene CAD Recomposition
abstract
3D scene CAD recomposition aims to reconstruct a given scene by retrieving and assembling CAD models from a database, so as to accurately simulate the geometric properties and spatial arrangement of the original environment. Recent methods learn this task through training on limited scan-to-CAD annotation data, which hinders their generalization to diverse real-world scenes. In this paper, we propose POSITION, an open-world 3D scene CAD recomposition method to construct the 3D scene with CADs retrieved from an open-set database. POSITION is designed following a divide-and-conquer strategy. Firstly, we extract open-world multi-modal object representations from a captured 3D scene. Secondly, on top of the representations, we propose a coarse-to-fine retrieval method to retrieve CADs that are visually, geometrically and semantically match real objects. Thirdly, we present a physically plausible pose alignment method to adjust retrieved CAD models to maintain consistent geometry and layout with the observation. By decomposing the problem into well-defined subtasks, our approach achieves generalization across various scene types and scalable CAD databases without retraining or fine-tuning. Our approach demonstrates superior CAD recomposition performance on both the Scan2CAD and diverse real-world 3D scene datasets. Our project page: https://yangrongkun.github.io/position/.

2025 OccluGaussian: Occlusion-Aware Gaussian Splatting for Large Scene Reconstruction and Rendering
abstract
In large-scale scene reconstruction using 3D Gaussian splatting, it is common to partition the scene into multiple smaller regions and reconstruct them individually. However, existing division methods are occlusion-agnostic, meaning that each region may contain areas with severe occlusions. As a result, the cameras within those regions are less correlated, leading to a low average contribution to the overall reconstruction. In this paper, we propose an occlusion-aware scene division strategy that clusters training cameras based on their positions and co-visibilities to acquire multiple regions. Cameras in such regions exhibit stronger correlations and a higher average contribution, facilitating high-quality scene reconstruction. We further propose a region-based rendering technique to accelerate large scene rendering, which culls Gaussians invisible to the region where the viewpoint is located. Such a technique significantly speeds up the rendering without compromising quality. Extensive experiments on multiple large scenes show that our method achieves superior reconstruction results with faster rendering speed compared to existing state-of-the-art approaches. 2025 Foresee and Act Ahead: Task Prediction and Pre-Scheduling Enabled Efficient Robotic Warehousing
abstract
In warehousing systems, to enhance efficiency amid surging demand volumes, much attention has been placed on how to reasonably allocate tasks of delivery to robots. However, the labor of robots is still inevitably wasted to some extent. In this paper, we propose a pre-scheduling enhanced warehousing framework aiming to foresee and act in advance, which consists of task flow prediction and hybrid task allocation. For task prediction, we design the spatio-temporal representations of the task flow and introduce a periodicity-decoupled mechanism tailored for the generation patterns of aggregated orders, and then further extract spatial features of task distribution with a novel combination of graph structures. In hybrid tasks allocation, we consider the known tasks and predicted future tasks simultaneously to optimize the task allocation. In addition, we consider factors such as predicted task uncertainty and sector-level efficiency to realize more balanced and rational allocations. We validate our task prediction model across datasets derived from factories, achieving SOTA performance. Furthermore, we implement our system in a real-world robotic warehouse, demonstrating more than 30% improvements in efficiency.

2025 ASCENT: Autonomous Skill Learning Toward Complex Embodied Tasks With Foundation Models
abstract
Collecting data from simulated scenarios for training robotic skills provides a safer and more controllable alternative to real-world environments. However, it demands considerable effort, including the manual construction of simulation environments, the careful design of tasks, and the challenge of obtaining effective trajectories. These limitations hinder the efficiency of data collection from simulated scenarios. In this paper, we leverage the prior knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Large Multimodal Models (LMMs) to generate simulated scenarios and embodied tasks. We introduce a novel framework, ASCENT (Autonomous Skill learning toward Complex Embodied tasks with fouNdaTion models), designed to efficiently accomplish these tasks and generate trajectory data. ASCENT features a fully autonomous skill learning mechanism based on AI agent. During task training, the AI agent identifies suitable atomic skills from an atomic skill library to either directly complete the task or serve as an initial policy for further training. Newly acquired atomic skills are subsequently added to the library. To address training failures and enhance efficiency, the AI agent uses an LLM to automatically optimize the skill training process based on feedback received from simulations. Experimental results indicate that the number of training steps required for learning new tasks can be reduced by up to 65.9 %.

2025 Ms. NAMI: Multimodal Semantic Navigation on Relative Metric Intention Graph
abstract
Embodied navigation in unknown environments presents the significant challenge of integrating tasks with multimodal goals into a unified framework. In this paper, we propose the Multimodal Semantic Navigation on Relative Metric Intention Graph (Ms. NAMI), a framework that integrates various navigation tasks with multimodal goals based on a relative topo-metric intention graph. A reinforcement learning based policy with a concise action space, consisting of frontier nodes and intention nodes, is designed to guide the agent to select reasonable sub-goals. A sparse reward design is introduced to reduce bias during training. Additionally, several engineering optimizations are implemented to enhance overall performance. The experimental results indicate that our method can achieve robust navigation performance in a variety of unknown environments.

2025 Graph2Scene: Versatile 3D Indoor Scene Generation with Interaction-aware Scene Graph
abstract
Embodied artificial intelligence requires a wide variety of large-scale simulated environments for development. Previous scene reconstruction approaches based on multiview images can produce high-fidelity 3D scenes but lack diversity. In contrast, existing prompt-based scene generation approaches can produce diverse scenes but lack fine-grained controls. To bridge these two fields, the scene graph provides the key relationships within a scene, while offering flexible controls. However, 3D scene generation from scene graphs is challenging and under-explored. In this paper, we propose a scene graph-based 3D indoor scene generation method for the efficient simulated environment creation, that maintains both high diversity and fine-grained control. Specifically, we first introduce an interaction-aware scene graph to merge object nodes with hierarchical interaction relationships, which alleviates levitation and interference issues during the scene generation. Then, we employ the large language model (LLM) for instruction-driven 3D layout generation with carefully designed prompts. Finally, a 3D large generation model is utilized to generate the content for each node of the interaction-aware scene graph, which is then transformed based on the corresponding bounding box in the 3D layout. The experiments demonstrate that the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art performance on 3D indoor scene generation. Additionally, the proposed method exhibits fine-grained controls at the object level, while providing a high diversity of layouts, geometry, and textures.

2025 PanopticSplatting: End-to-End Panoptic Gaussian Splatting
abstract
Open-vocabulary panoptic reconstruction is a challenging task for simultaneous scene reconstruction and understanding. Recently, methods have been proposed for 3D scene understanding based on Gaussian splatting. However, these methods are multi-staged, suffering from the accumulated errors and the dependence of hand-designed components. To streamline the pipeline and achieve global optimization, we propose PanopticSplatting, an end-to-end system for open-vocabulary panoptic reconstruction. Our method introduces query-guided Gaussian segmentation with local cross attention, lifting 2D instance masks without cross-frame association in an end-to-end way. The local cross attention within view frustum effectively reduces the training memory, making our model more accessible to large scenes with more Gaussians and objects. In addition, to address the challenge of noisy labels in 2D pseudo masks, we propose label blending to promote consistent 3D segmentation with less noisy floaters, as well as label warping on 2D predictions which enhances multi-view coherence and segmentation accuracy. Our method demonstrates strong performances in 3D scene panoptic reconstruction on the ScanNet-V2 and ScanNet++ datasets, compared with both NeRF-based and Gaussian-based panoptic reconstruction methods. Moreover, PanopticSplatting can be easily generalized to numerous variants of Gaussian splatting, and we demonstrate its robustness on different Gaussian base models.

2025 GPGS: Geometric Priors for 3D Gaussian Splatting in Structural Environments
abstract
Recently, 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has garnered significant attention for its remarkable capacity to efficiently synthesize novel views with high fidelity. Nevertheless, 3DGS encounters challenges in accurately representing the geometry of real-world scenes. To address this issue, previous methods commonly utilize a depth-normal consistency term on 2D images to regulate the geometry of 3D Gaussians. However, these methods degrade in performance when dealing with low-texture surfaces or limited training views. In contrast, we present GPGS, a novel approach that directly regulates Gaussians in 3D space using Geometric Priors (GP). Given posed LiDAR scans and images, we organize the point clouds into a hierarchical voxel map. Each voxel contains occupancy information and explicitly reveals the internal planar or non-planar structure. We propose a novel divide-and-conquer strategy to separately regulate Gaussians in planar and non-planar voxels. For planar voxels, we design positional and rotational constraints to align Gaussians with the estimated plane. Considering the noisy ranging measurements of complex structures, we use depth-normal consistency to regularize Gaussians in non-planar voxels. Additionally, an occupancy-aware density control strategy is introduced to confine the densification process within occupied voxels, thus reducing artifacts. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets show that our proposed approach outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods in both geometric accuracy and visual quality.

2025 ET-Plan-Bench: Embodied Task-level Planning Benchmark Towards Spatial-Temporal Cognition with Foundation Models
abstract
Recent advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) have catalyzed numerous efforts to apply these technologies to embodied tasks, with a particular focus on high-level task planning and task decomposition. LLMs face challenges in understanding the physical world, especially regarding spatial, temporal, and causal relationships among objects and actions. Moreover, the current benchmarks for evaluating these relationships are limited. To further investigate this domain, we introduce a novel embodied task planning benchmark, ET-Plan-Bench. This benchmark features a controllable and diverse array of embodied tasks, varying in levels of difficulty and complexity. It is designed to evaluate two critical dimensions of LLMs’ application in embodied task understanding: spatial understanding (including relation constraints and occlusion of target objects) and temporal and causal comprehension of sequences of actions within an environment. Utilizing multi-source simulators as the backend simulator, ET-Plan-Bench provides immediate environmental feedback to LLMs, enabling dynamic interaction with the environment and the capacity for re-planning as necessary. We evaluated state-of-the-art open-source and closed-source foundational models, including GPT-4, Llama, and Mistral, using our proposed benchmark. While these models perform adequately on simple navigation tasks, their performance significantly deteriorates when con-fronted with tasks that demand a deeper understanding of spatial, temporal, and causal relationships. Consequently, our benchmark distinguishes itself as a large-scale, quantifiable, highly automated, and fine-grained diagnostic framework that presents a substantial challenge to the latest foundational models. We hope it will inspire and propel further research in embodied task planning utilizing foundational models. Code available at: https://github.com/ET-Plan-Bench/ET-Plan-Bench

2024 LoS: Local Structure-Guided Stereo Matching
abstract
Estimating disparities in challenging areas is difficult and limits the performance of stereo matching models. In this paper, we exploit local structure information (LSI) to better handle these areas. Specifically, our LSI comprises a series of key elements, including the slant plane (parameterised by disparity gradients), disparity offset details and neighbouring relations. This LSI empowers our method to effectively handle intricate structures, including object boundaries and curved surfaces. We bootstrap the LSI from monocular depth and subsequently refine it to bet-ter capture the underlying scene geometry constraints in an iterative manner. Building upon the LSI, we introduce the Local Structure-Guided Propagation (LSGP), which enhances the disparity initialization, optimization, and refinement processes. By combining LSGP with a Gated Re-current Unit (GRU), we present our novel stereo matching method, referred to as Local Structure-guided stereo matching (LoS). Remarkably, LoS achieves top-ranking results on four widely recognized public benchmark datasets (ETH3D, Middlebury, KITTI 15 & 12) and robust vision challenge, demonstrating the superior capabilities of our model.

2024 SCALE: Self-Correcting Visual Navigation for Mobile Robots via Anti-Novelty Estimation
abstract
Although visual navigation has been extensively studied using deep reinforcement learning, online learning for real-world robots remains a challenging task. Recent work directly learned from offline dataset to achieve broader generalization in the real-world tasks, which, however, faces the out-of-distribution (OOD) issue and potential robot localization failures in a given map for unseen observation. This significantly drops the success rates and even induces collision. In this paper, we present a self-correcting visual navigation method, SCALE, that can autonomously prevent the robot from the OOD situations without human intervention. Specifically, we develop an image-goal conditioned offline reinforcement learning method based on implicit Q-learning (IQL). When facing OOD observation, our novel localization recovery method generates the potential future trajectories by learning from the navigation affordance, and estimates the future novelty via random network distillation (RND). A tailored cost function searches for the candidates with the least novelty that can lead the robot to the familiar places. We collect offline data and conduct evaluation experiments in three real-world urban scenarios. Experiment results show that SCALE outperforms the previous state-of-the-art methods for open-world navigation with a unique capability of localization recovery, significantly reducing the need for human intervention. 2024 Traffic Flow Learning Enhanced Large-Scale Multi-Robot Cooperative Path Planning Under Uncertainties
abstract
Robotic systems with hundreds or even thousands of robots are widely implemented in logistic and industrial applications. In such systems, cooperative path planning is of great importance, as local congestion and motion conflict may greatly degrade system performance, especially in the presence of uncertainties. Our idea is to consider traffic flow equilibrium in path planning to relieve any potential congestion and increase efficiency. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical framework, which includes a traffic flow prediction layer, a sector-level planning layer, and a road-level coordination layer. In traffic flow prediction, we propose a spatio-temporal graph neural network that integrates local information to predict the evolution of future robot density distribution. In sector-level planning, we generate sector-level paths that consider travel distance and traffic flow equilibrium simultaneously. In road-level coordination, we implement the conflict-based search algorithm within each sector to ensure conflict-free local paths. In addition, we also explicitly consider motion/communication uncertainties that are unavoided in practical systems. We validate our effectiveness in simulations with over 1000 robots, what’s more, real experiments are provided.

2024 Toward Universal and Scalable Road Graph Partitioning for Efficient Multi-Robot Path Planning
abstract
To date, multi-robot path planning has primarily been addressed by centralized solvers, typically aiming to maintain optimality. However, given its NP-hard nature, directly applying existing solvers in large and complex scenarios proves inefficient. A promising alternative lies in adopting a divide- and-conquer strategy to break down the problem into manageable sub-problems. In this work, we propose a systematic, universal, and scalable graph partitioning method, aiming to automatically divide any real-world environment into multiple regions. Building upon this, we convert the path planning on the entire graph into distributed sub-region path planning and devise corresponding inter-regional strategies. Our work can be easily implementable in practical systems and effectively enhances the scalability of existing solvers. Experimentally, our approach contributes to a tenfold improvement in computational efficiency while only sacrificing about 10% of optimality.

2024 Scale Disparity of Instances in Interactive Point Cloud Segmentation
abstract
Interactive point cloud segmentation has become a pivotal task for understanding 3D scenes, enabling users to guide segmentation models with simple interactions such as clicks, therefore significantly reducing the effort required to tailor models to diverse scenarios and new categories. However, in the realm of interactive segmentation, the meaning of instance diverges from that in instance segmentation, because users might desire to segment instances of both thing and stuff categories that vary greatly in scale. Existing methods have focused on thing categories, neglecting the segmentation of stuff categories and the difficulties arising from scale disparity. To bridge this gap, we propose ClickFormer, an innovative interactive point cloud segmentation model that accurately segments instances of both thing and stuff categories. We propose a query augmentation module to augment click queries by a global query sampling strategy, thus maintaining consistent performance across different instance scales. Additionally, we employ global attention in the query-voxel transformer to mitigate the risk of generating false positives, along with several other network structure improvements to further enhance the model’s segmentation performance. Experiments demonstrate that ClickFormer outperforms existing interactive point cloud segmentation methods across both indoor and outdoor datasets, providing more accurate segmentation results with fewer user clicks in an open-world setting. 2024 PanopticRecon: Leverage Open-vocabulary Instance Segmentation for Zero-shot Panoptic Reconstruction
abstract
Panoptic reconstruction is a challenging task in 3D scene understanding. However, most existing methods heavily rely on pre-trained semantic segmentation models and known 3D object bounding boxes for 3D panoptic segmentation, which is not available for in-the-wild scenes. In this paper, we propose a novel zero-shot panoptic reconstruction method from RGB-D images of scenes. For zero-shot segmentation, we leverage open-vocabulary instance segmentation, but it has to face partial labeling and instance association challenges. We tackle both challenges by propagating partial labels with the aid of dense generalized features and building a 3D instance graph for associating 2D instance IDs. Specifically, we exploit partial labels to learn a classifier for generalized semantic features to provide complete labels for scenes with dense distilled features. Moreover, we formulate instance association as a 3D instance graph segmentation problem, allowing us to fully utilize the scene geometry prior and all 2D instance masks to infer global unique pseudo 3D instance ID. Our method outperforms state-of-the-art methods on the indoor dataset ScanNet V2 and the outdoor dataset KITTI-360, demonstrating the effectiveness of our graph segmentation method and reconstruction network.

2023 Audio-Driven High Definetion and Lip-Synchronized Talking Face Generation Based on Face Reenactment
abstract
Generating audio-driven photo-realistic talking face has received intensive attention due to its ability to bring more new human-computer interaction experiences. However, previous works struggled to balance high definition, lip synchronization, and low customization costs, which would degrade the user experience. In this paper, a novel audio-driven talking face generation method was proposed, which subtly converts the problem of improving video definition into the problem of face reenactment to produce both lip-synchronized and high- definition face video. The framework is decoupled, meaning that the same trained model can be used on arbitrary characters and audio without further customizing training for specific people, thus significantly reducing costs. Experiment results show that our proposed method achieves the high video definition, and comparable lip synchronization performance with the existing state-of-the-art methods.

2021 Inertial Aided 3D LiDAR SLAM with Hybrid Geometric Primitives in Large-scale Environments
abstract
This paper presents a comprehensive inertial aided 3D LiDAR SLAM system with hybrid geometric primitives in large-scale environments, including a tightly-coupled LiDAR-Inertial-Odometry (LIO), a global mapping module supported by learning-based loop closure detection and a sub-maps matching algorithm. An efficient method is developed to simultaneously extract explicit plane features and point features from each raw point cloud. To make full use of the structural information of the surroundings, plane features and point features (ground and edge) are tracked across a fix-sized group of LiDAR keyframes in the local map. For effective loop closure detection in large-scale environments, we integrate the learning-based point cloud network and a keyframe sequence matching method to detect loops. Finally, a novel, deterministic and near real-time plane-driven sub-maps matching algorithm is proposed to close the loops. The proposed SLAM system is validated with experiments on different types of environments.

2020 CUHK-AHU Dataset: Promoting Practical Self-Driving Applications in the Complex Airport Logistics, Hill and Urban Environments
abstract
This paper presents a novel dataset targeting three types of challenging environments for autonomous driving, i.e., the industrial logistics environment, the undulating hill environment and the mixed complex urban environment. To the best of the author's knowledge, similar dataset has not been published in the existing public datasets, especially for the logistics environment collected in the functioning Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminal (HACT). Structural changes always suddenly appeared in the airport logistics environment due to the frequent movement of goods in and out. In the structureless and noisy hill environment, the non-flat plane movement is usual. In the mixed complex urban environment, the highly dynamic residence blocks, sloped roads and highways are included in a single collection. The presented dataset includes LiDAR, image, IMU and GPS data by repeatedly driving along several paths to capture the structural changes, the illumination changes and the different degrees of undulation of the roads. The baseline trajectories are provided which are estimated by Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM).

2020 Robust Dynamic State Estimation for Lateral Control of an Industrial Tractor Towing Multiple Passive Trailers
abstract
In this paper, we propose a dynamic state estimation framework for lateral control of a heavy tractor-trailers system using only mass-produced low-cost sensors. This issue is challenging since the lateral velocity of the lead tractor is difficult to measure directly. The performance of existing dynamic model-based estimation methods will also be degraded, as different trailers and payloads cause the tractor model parameters to change. We address this issue by incorporating a kinematic estimator into a dynamic model-based estimation scheme. Accurate and reliable tire cornering stiffness and dynamics-informed lateral velocity of the lead tractor can be output in real-time by using our method. The stability and robustness of the proposed method are theoretically proved. The feasibility of our method is verified by full-scale experiments. It is also verified that the estimated model parameters and lateral states do improve the control performance by integrating the estimator into a lateral control system.

2019 LPD-Net: 3D Point Cloud Learning for Large-Scale Place Recognition and Environment Analysis
abstract
Point cloud based place recognition is still an open issue due to the difficulty in extracting local features from the raw 3D point cloud and generating the global descriptor, and it's even harder in the large-scale dynamic environments. In this paper, we develop a novel deep neural network, named LPD-Net (Large-scale Place Description Network), which can extract discriminative and generalizable global descriptors from the raw 3D point cloud. Two modules, the adaptive local feature extraction module and the graph-based neighborhood aggregation module, are proposed, which contribute to extract the local structures and reveal the spatial distribution of local features in the large-scale point cloud, with an end-to-end manner. We implement the proposed global descriptor in solving point cloud based retrieval tasks to achieve the large-scale place recognition. Comparison results show that our LPD-Net is much better than PointNetVLAD and reaches the state-of-the-art. We also compare our LPD-Net with the vision-based solutions to show the robustness of our approach to different weather and light conditions.

2019 A Hierarchical Framework for Coordinating Large-Scale Robot Networks
abstract
In this paper, we study the cooperative path planning and motion coordination problems of the multi-robot system with large number of robots, aiming for practical applications in robotic warehouses and automated transportation systems. Particularly, we solve the life-long planning problem and guarantee the coordination performance in the presence of robot motion uncertainties. A hierarchical path planning and motion coordination structure is presented. The environment is divided into several sectors and a traffic heat-map is presented to describe the current sector-level traffic condition. In path planning level, the sector-level path is calculated by considering the path distance, the current traffic condition and the current robot uncertainty. In motion coordination level, local cooperative A* algorithm and conflict-based searching strategy are utilized within each sector to generate the collision-free local path of each robot in a rolling planning manner. The effectiveness and practical applicability of the proposed approach are validated by simulations with more than one thousand robots and real experiments.

2019 Vision-Based Dynamic Control of Car-Like Mobile Robots
abstract
Most existing controllers for Car-Like Mobile Robots (CLMR) are designed to handle dynamic effects by decoupling speed and steering controls, also assume that full states are accessible, which are unrealistic for real-world applications. This paper presents a combined speed and steering control system for CLMR. To provide the essential state for the controller, a newly developed visual algorithm is adopted for estimating the high-update rate longitudinal and lateral velocities of the robot which cannot be accurately measured by wheel encoders due to the skidding and slipping effects. The stability of the proposed system can be guaranteed by Lyapunov method since the velocity estimation error, the speed tracking error and the lateral deviation converging to zero simultaneously. Real-world experiments are conducted on an electric autonomous tractor with online estimation to demonstrate the feasibility of the approach.

2019 SeqLPD: Sequence Matching Enhanced Loop-Closure Detection Based on Large-Scale Point Cloud Description for Self-Driving Vehicles
abstract
Place recognition and loop-closure detection are main challenges in the localization, mapping and navigation tasks of self-driving vehicles. In this paper, we solve the loop-closure detection problem by incorporating the deep-learning based point cloud description method and the coarse-to-fine sequence matching strategy. More specifically, we propose a deep neural network to extract a global descriptor from the original large-scale 3D point cloud, then based on which, a typical place analysis approach is presented to investigate the feature space distribution of the global descriptors and select several super keyframes. Finally, a coarse-to-fine strategy, which includes a super keyframe based coarse matching stage and a local sequence matching stage, is presented to ensure the loop-closure detection accuracy and real-time performance simultaneously. Thanks to the sequence matching operation, the proposed approach obtains an improvement against the existing deep-learning based methods. Experiment results on a self-driving vehicle validate the effectiveness of the proposed loop-closure detection algorithm.

2019 Modelling and Dynamic Tracking Control of Industrial Vehicles with Tractor-trailer Structure
abstract
Existing works on control of tractor-trailers systems only consider the kinematics model without taking dynamics into account. Also, most of them treat the issue as a pure control theory problem whose solutions are difficult to implement. This paper presents a trajectory tracking control approach for a full-scale industrial tractor-trailers vehicle composed of a carlike tractor and arbitrary number of passive full trailers. To deal with dynamic effects of trailing units, a force sensor is innovatively installed at the connection between the tractor and the first trailer to measure the forces acting on the tractor. The tractor's dynamic model that explicitly accounts for the measured forces is derived. A tracking controller that compensates the pulling/pushing forces in real time and simultaneously drives the system onto desired trajectories is proposed. The propulsion map between throttle opening and the propulsion force is proposed to be modeled with a fifth-order polynomial. The parameters are estimated by fitting experimental data, in order to provide accurate driving force. Stability of the control algorithm is rigorously proved by Lyapunov methods. Experiments of full-size vehicles are conducted to validate the performance of the control approach.

2018 Vision-Based State Estimation and Trajectory Tracking Control of Car-Like Mobile Robots with Wheel Skidding and Slipping
abstract
Most existing trajectory tracking controllers are based on non-skidding and non-slipping assumptions, also assume that full states are accessible, which is unrealistic for real-world applications due to tire-road interaction. This paper presents a novel vision-based approach to achieve high performance tracking control of a Car-Like Mobile Robot (CLMR) with wheel skidding and slippage. A visual estimation algorithm is proposed to provide reliable position, velocity, skidding and slipping information to close the control loop. The stability of the proposed system can be guaranteed by Lyapunov method since the position tracking error and the estimation error converge to zero simultaneously. Simulation is made to validate the effectiveness of the developed controller in the presence of skidding and slipping with online visual estimator.
