| 2026 | Cerebra: Aligning Implicit Knowledge in Interactive SQL AuthoringabstractLLM-driven tools have significantly lowered barriers to writing SQL queries. However, user instructions are often underspecified, assuming the model understands implicit knowledge, such as dataset schemas, domain conventions, and task-specific requirements, that isn’t explicitly provided. This results in frequently erroneous scripts that require users to repeatedly clarify their intent. Additionally, users struggle to validate generated scripts because they cannot verify whether the model correctly applied implicit knowledge. We present Cerebra, an interactive NL-to-SQL tool that aligns implicit knowledge between users and LLMs during SQL authoring. Cerebra automatically retrieves implicit knowledge from historical SQL scripts based on user instructions, presents this knowledge in an interactive tree view for code review, and supports iterative refinement to improve generated scripts. To evaluate the effectiveness and usability of Cerebra, we conducted a user study with 16 participants, demonstrating its improved support for customized SQL authoring. The source code of Cerebra is available at https://github.com/zjuidg/CHI26-Cerebra. Yunfan Zhou, Qiming Shi, Zhongsu Luo, Xiwen Cai, Yanwei Huang, Daehyun Kim 0005, Di Weng, Yingcai Wu |

| 2025 | Xavier: Toward Better Coding Assistance in Authoring Tabular Data Wrangling ScriptsabstractData analysts frequently employ code completion tools in writing custom scripts to tackle complex tabular data wrangling tasks. However, existing tools do not sufficiently link the data contexts such as schemas and values with the code being edited. This not only leads to poor code suggestions, but also frequent interruptions in coding processes as users need additional code to locate and understand relevant data. We introduce Xavier, a tool designed to enhance data wrangling script authoring in computational notebooks. Xavier maintains users' awareness of data contexts while providing data-aware code suggestions. It automatically highlights the most relevant data based on the user's code, integrates both code and data contexts for more accurate suggestions, and instantly previews data transformation results for easy verification. To evaluate the effectiveness and usability of Xavier, we conducted a user study with 16 data analysts, showing its potential to streamline data wrangling scripts authoring. | 2024 | CARE: Cloudified Android With Optimized Rendering PlatformabstractDue to the excellent rendering capabilities, GPUs are mainstream accelerators in the Cloud-rendering industry. However, current Cloud-rendering systems suffer from a CPU-GPU workload imbalance that not only degrades application performance but also causes a significant waste of GPU resources. Recent proposals (such as API-forwarding and c-GPU) for improving CPU-GPU balance are promising but fail to solve system-resource redundancy issues (i.e., each instance tends to occupy all resources, exceeding its requirements). Such behavior will increase CPU load and lower effective GPU utilization. To demonstrate the severity of the issue, we evaluated real-world applications and results show that in most cases, nearly 50% of resources are useless. To solve this problem, we present CARE, the first framework intended to reduce the system-level redundancy by cloudifying the system from monolithic to Cloud-native. To allow users to configure required services, CARE puts forward a functional unit calledConfigurable Android (CA). To allow multiple instances to share certain types of resources, CARE innovatesSharing Resource (SR). To reduce the unused services, CARE introducesPruning Resources (PR). To further alleviate the CPU pressure and achieve CPU-GPU balance, we propose rShare, a system aiming at enhancing CPU effective utilization and increasing Android instance density of the Cloud-rendering platform. Based on Kubernetes, rShare divides all the CPUs into non-overlapping shared CPU pools, allocates instances to pools within milliseconds, and dynamically migrates them by tracking their QoS status. So far, CARE primarily focuses on Android systems and can handle 60 heavyweight instances (e.g., KOG (King of Glory)) on Intel SG1. rShare can apply instance allocation within milliseconds and increase the platform density by 39.4%. | 2021 | CARE: Cloudified Android OSes on the Cloud RenderingabstractGPUs have become ubiquitous in the Cloud-rendering areas due to the outstanding rendering performance. However, many existing Cloud-rendering systems suffer from low GPU utilization caused by the CPU bottleneck. Recent proposals (e.g., API-forwarding and c-GPU) for GPU-usage optimization are promising but fail to address the system-resource redundancy issues (i.e., each instance tends to occupy all the system resources exceeding their requirements), leading to unnecessary CPU consumption and lowering GPU utilization. We conducted an experiment by testing real-world applications on the percentage of unused resources to demonstrate the severity of this issue. Nearly 50% of resources are unused. | 2018 | Outage behaviour and SCK-based power allocation for analogue network coding protocol in cooperative networksabstractIn this study, the authors consider the communication scenario where two sources communicate with the help of a single relay, modelled as a half‐duplex butterfly network. Closed‐form expressions of the outage probabilities are derived in the high signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) regime for the orthogonal amplify‐and‐forward and non‐orthogonal amplify‐and‐forward protocols. Then the expressions are approximated to enable power allocation. Closed‐form power allocation schemes are proposed for each protocol, where only statistical channel knowledge is required. It is shown that the authors analyses match well with simulation results and the approximated versions are very close to the simulation results. The proposed power allocation schemes achieve a large SNR gain over the equal‐power strategies and approach the optimal power allocation schemes.
