| 2022 | Bilingual Terminology Extraction from Comparable E-Commerce CorporaabstractBilingual terminologies are important machine translation resources in the field of e-commerce, which are usually either manually translated or automatically extracted from parallel data. The human translation is costly and e-commerce parallel corpora is very scarce. However, the comparable data in different languages in the same commodity field is abundant. In this paper, we propose a novel framework of extracting e-commercial bilingual terminologies from comparable data. Benefiting from the cross-lingual pre-training in e-commerce, our framework can make full use of the deep semantic relationship between source-side terminology and target-side sentence to extract corresponding target terminology. Experimental results on various language pairs show that our approaches achieve significantly better performance than various strong baselines. Shuqin Gu, Xiangyu Duan |

| 2019 | A Generalized Language Model in Tensor SpaceabstractIn the literature, tensors have been effectively used for capturing the context information in language models. However, the existing methods usually adopt relatively-low order tensors, which have limited expressive power in modeling language. Developing a higher-order tensor representation is challenging, in terms of deriving an effective solution and showing its generality. In this paper, we propose a language model named Tensor Space Language Model (TSLM), by utilizing tensor networks and tensor decomposition. In TSLM, we build a high-dimensional semantic space constructed by the tensor product of word vectors. Theoretically, we prove that such tensor representation is a generalization of the n-gram language model. We further show that this high-order tensor representation can be decomposed to a recursive calculation of conditional probability for language modeling. The experimental results on Penn Tree Bank (PTB) dataset and WikiText benchmark demonstrate the effectiveness of TSLM. Peng Zhang 0002, Xindian Ma, Shuqin Gu, Zhan Su 0002, Dawei Song 0001 |

| 2018 | A Position-aware Bidirectional Attention Network for Aspect-level Sentiment AnalysisabstractAspect-level sentiment analysis aims to distinguish the sentiment polarity of each specific aspect term in a given sentence. Both industry and academia have realized the importance of the relationship between aspect term and sentence, and made attempts to model the relationship by designing a series of attention models. However, most existing methods usually neglect the fact that the position information is also crucial for identifying the sentiment polarity of the aspect term. When an aspect term occurs in a sentence, its neighboring words should be given more attention than other words with long distance. Therefore, we propose a position-aware bidirectional attention network (PBAN) based on bidirectional GRU. PBAN not only concentrates on the position information of aspect terms, but also mutually models the relation between aspect term and sentence by employing bidirectional attention mechanism. The experimental results on SemEval 2014 Datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed PBAN model. Shuqin Gu, Yuexian Hou, Yin Song |

| 2018 | Regularizing Deep Neural Networks with an Ensemble-based Decorrelation MethodabstractAlthough Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) have achieved excellent performance in many tasks, improving the generalization capacity of DNNs still remains a challenge. In this work, we propose a novel regularizer named Ensemble-based Decorrelation Method (EDM), which is motivated by the idea of the ensemble learning to improve generalization capacity of DNNs. EDM can be applied to hidden layers in fully connected neural networks or convolutional neural networks. We treat each hidden layer as an ensemble of several base learners through dividing all the hidden units into several non-overlap groups, and each group will be viewed as a base learner. EDM encourages DNNs to learn more diverse representations by minimizing the covariance between all base learners during the training step. Experimental results on MNIST and CIFAR datasets demonstrate that EDM can effectively reduce the overfitting and improve the generalization capacity of DNNs Shuqin Gu, Yuexian Hou, Yazhou Zhang 0001 |
