2026 GraphSynth: Resolving the Diversity-Reliability Trade-off with Probabilistic Factor Graphs
abstract
The large language models offer a scaleable solution for the generation of synthetic data faced with a trade-off between maintaining the diversity of generation and achieving factually accurate results. This paper introduces Graphsynth, a framework which leverages a probabilistic factor graph modeling the universe of attributes. The framework leverages a high-level schema mapping compiled into efficient hard masks during the decoding phase for maintaining the syntactic truth and a span-synchronized verifier for dismissing logical contradictions at the decode time. The experiments conducted on biomedical, legal, and generic domains show that the method outperforms the state-of-the-art baselines with a structural integrity approaching perfection, a coverage of around 94% attributes on the factor graph solution, and a boost in performance on downstream tasks such as +17.9% on TruthfulQA.

2026 Identity-Decoupled Anonymization for Visual Evidence in Multi-modal Retrieval-Augmented Generation
abstract
Multi-modal retrieval-augmented generation (MRAG) systems retrieve visual evidence from large image corpora to ground the responses of large multi-modal models, yet the retrieved images frequently contain human faces whose identities constitute sensitive personal information. Existing anonymization techniques that destroy the non-identity visual cues that downstream reasoning depends on or fail to provide principled privacy guarantees. We propose Identity-Decoupled MRAG, a framework that interposes a generative anonymization module between retrieval and generation. Our approach consists of three components: (i) a disentangled variational encoder that factorizes each face into an identity code and a spatially-structured attribute code, regularized by a mutual-information penalty and a gradient-based independence term; (ii) a manifold-aware rejection sampler that replaces the identity code with a synthetic one guaranteed to be both distinct from the original and realistic; and (iii) a conditional latent diffusion generator that synthesizes the anonymized face from the replacement identity and the preserved attributes, distilled into a latent consistency model for low-latency deployment. Privacy is enforced through a multi-oracle ensemble of face recognition models with a hinge-based loss that halts optimization once identity similarity drops below the impostor-regime threshold. The resulting framework enables privacy-preserving visual reasoning in MRAG pipelines with a tunable privacy-utility trade-off calibrated to deployment context.

2025 On Weaponization-Resistant Large Language Models with Prospect Theoretic Alignment
abstract
Large language models (LLMs) have made significant advancements, but their increasing capabilities present serious risks of misuse, particularly in open-weight models where direct access to the model’s parameters is possible. Current safeguards, designed for closed-weight API models, are inadequate for open-weight models, as minimal fine-tuning can bypass these protections. Preserving the integrity of open-weight LLMs before deployment has thus become a critical challenge. We argue that these vulnerabilities stem from the overemphasis on maximizing the LLM’s log-likelihood during training, which amplifies data biases, especially with large datasets. To address these issues, we introduce Kahneman and Tversky’s Prospect Theoretic Integrity Preserving Alignment (KT-IPA), a framework that prioritizes maximizing generative utility rather than a singular optimization metric. This approach strengthens LLMs against misuse and weaponization while maintaining high performance, even after extensive fine-tuning. Our results demonstrate that integrating prospect theory into LLM training enhances robustness, security, and responsible innovation in this rapidly evolving field. 2025 Effective and Efficient Medical Image Segmentation with Hierarchical Context Interaction
abstract
The U-Net models have become the predominant architecture within the domain of medical image segmentation. Recent advancements have showcased the potential of incorporating attention-based techniques into U-Net structures. Nevertheless, the inclusion of attention mechanisms often leads to a substantial increase in both computational demands and the number of parameters, with only a marginal improvement in the performance. This observation raises a critical evaluation of the efficiency associated with the integration of attention modules. In this paper, we propose a novel methodology termed Hierarchical Context Interaction (HCI), a parameter-efficient, attention-free enhancement that can be seamlessly incorporated into U-Net-based models. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed HCI module attains state-of-the-art performance on two widely used benchmarks, i.e. Medical Segmentation Decathlon Datasets and Synapse Datasets, while concurrently sustaining a computationally efficient profile comparable to conventional U-Net configurations.

2024 Affinity-Graph-Guided Contractive Learning for Pretext-Free Medical Image Segmentation with Minimal Annotation
abstract
The combination of semi-supervised learning (SemiSL) and contrastive learning (CL) has been successful in medical image segmentation with limited annotations. However, these works often rely on pretext tasks that lack the specificity required for pixel-level segmentation, and still face overfitting issues due to insufficient supervision signals resulting from too few annotations. Therefore, this paper proposes an affinitygraph-guided semi-supervised contrastive learning framework (Semi-AGCL) by establishing additional affinity-graph-based supervision signals between the student and teacher network, to achieve medical image segmentation with minimal annotations without pretext. The framework first designs an average-patchentropy-driven inter-patch sampling method, which can provide a robust initial feature space without relying on pretext tasks. Furthermore, the framework designs an affinity-graph-guided loss function, which can improve the quality of the learned representation and the model’s generalization ability by exploiting the inherent structure of the data, thus mitigating overfitting. Our experiments indicate that with merely 10% of the complete annotation set, our model approaches the accuracy of the fully annotated baseline, manifesting a marginal deviation of only 2.52%. Under the stringent conditions where only 5% of the annotations are employed, our model exhibits a significant enhancement in performance—surpassing the second-best baseline by 23.09% on the dice metric and achieving an improvement of 26.57% on the notably arduous CRAG and ACDC datasets.

2023 CCCSpell: A Consistent and Contrastive Learning Approach with Character Similarity for Chinese Spelling Check
abstract
Chinese Spelling Check (CSC) is a task to detect and correct Chinese misspellings. Existing methods have adopted pre-trained language models (PLMs) and achieved state-of-the-art performances. However, due to the Dropout strategy, the PLM-based models suffer from inconsistency between the training and testing stages, i.e., the semantic representation during training is inconsistent with the counterpart during testing. Besides, the PLM-based models prefer to correct the erroneous characters to semantically proper or commonly used ones rather than the ground truths. And they usually neglect phonological and visual similarity knowledge between characters. In this paper, we propose a consistent and contrastive learning approach with character similarity for CSC (CCCSpell). CCCSpell is composed of a BERT-based detector and a character similarity-based corrector. The detector uses bidirectional Kullback-Leibler divergence to minimize the gap between the output distributions of two sub-models sampled by Dropout, which can enhance the consistency of the semantic representations when training and inferring to improve the testing performance. Besides, the detector employs a contrastive optimization objective to increase the confidence of targets and decrease the counterpart of common characters, which can help avoid predicting common ones. After that, the corrector tries to incorporate phonological and visual similarity knowledge into detection results by calculating the levenshtein edit distance between the shape/pronunciation representations of characters, and utilizes the confusion set to help select golden characters. Experiments are conducted on SIGHAN and OCR datasets, and the results demonstrate that CCCSpell outperforms all baseline models and achieves new state-of-the-art performances.

2022 Hybrid Learning System for Large-scale Medical Image Analysis
abstract
Adequate annotated data cannot always be satisfied in medical imaging applications. To address such a challenge, we would explore ways to reduce the quality and quantity of annotations requirements of the deep learning model by developing a hybrid learning system. We combined self-supervised learning, semi-supervised learning and weak-supervised learning to improve annotation utilization. Our primary research work on 2D medical image detection under poor annotation conditions has found that better regularization and adversarial loss can improve the robustness and performance with poor annotation conditions.

2019 Long Text Analysis Using Sliced Recurrent Neural Networks with Breaking Point Information Enrichment
abstract
Sliced recurrent neural networks (SRNNs) are the state-of-the-art efficient solution for long text analysis tasks; however, their slicing operations inevitably result in long-term dependency loss in lower-level networks and thus limit their accuracy. Therefore, we propose a breaking point information enrichment mechanism to strengthen dependencies between sliced subsequences without hindering parallelization. Then, the resulting BPIE-SRNN model is further extended to a bidirectional model, BPIE-BiSRNN, to utilize the dependency information in not only the previous but also the following contexts. Experiments on four large public real-world datasets demonstrate that the BPIE-SRNN and BPIE-BiSRNN models always achieve a much better accuracy than SRNNs and BiSRNNs, while maintaining a superior training efficiency.

2019 Foxnet: A Multi-Face Alignment Method
abstract
Multi-face alignment aims to identify geometry structures of multiple faces in an image, and its performance is essential for the many practical tasks, such as face recognition, face tracking, and face animation. In this work, we present a fast bottom-up multi-face alignment approach, which can simultaneously localize multi-person facial landmarks with high precision. In more detail, our bottom-up architecture maps the landmarks to the high-dimensional space with which landmarks of all faces are represented. By clustering the features belonging to the same face, our approach can align the multi-person facial landmarks synchronously. Extensive experiments show that our method can achieve high performance in the multi-face landmark alignment task while our model is extremely fast. Moreover, we propose a new multi-face dataset to compare the speed and precision of bottom-up face alignment method with top-down methods. Our dataset is publicly available at1.
