2025 Global Graph Attention for Contrastive Sequential Recommendation
abstract
Contrastive learning is a primary approach to mitigating data sparsity in sequential recommendation, but its improvements on the item side are limited due to data augmentation impairing user representations. To address these challenges, this paper introduces the Global Graph Attention for Contrastive Sequential Recommendation (GGACSR). GGACSR integrates graph neural networks and self-attention mechanisms, with an Attention Convolution Layer replacing nonlinear transformations in Graph Convolutional Networks (GCNs) with Q, K, and V vector operations, facilitating better handling of sequence dependencies. Leveraging a global user connection graph and projecting embeddings into a lower dimension effectively improves item and user representations. Overall, GGACSR outperforms existing baselines on three public datasets by more accurately capturing complex relationships and adapting user preferences.

2021 CoCosNet v2: Full-Resolution Correspondence Learning for Image Translation
abstract
We present the full-resolution correspondence learning for cross-domain images, which aids image translation. We adopt a hierarchical strategy that uses the correspondence from coarse level to guide the fine levels. At each hierarchy, the correspondence can be efficiently computed via PatchMatch that iteratively leverages the matchings from the neighborhood. Within each PatchMatch iteration, the ConvGRU module is employed to refine the current correspondence considering not only the matchings of larger context but also the historic estimates. The proposed Co-CosNet v2, a GRU-assisted PatchMatch approach, is fully differentiable and highly efficient. When jointly trained with image translation, full-resolution semantic correspondence can be established in an unsupervised manner, which in turn facilitates the exemplar-based image translation. Experiments on diverse translation tasks show that CoCosNet v2 performs considerably better than state-of-the-art literature on producing high-resolution images.

2020 Generating Person Images with Appearance-aware Pose Stylizer
abstract
Generation of high-quality person images is challenging, due to the sophisticated entanglements among image factors, e.g., appearance, pose, foreground, background, local details, global structures, etc. In this paper, we present a novel end-to-end framework to generate realistic person images based on given person poses and appearances. The core of our framework is a novel generator called Appearance-aware Pose Stylizer (APS) which generates human images by coupling the target pose with the conditioned person appearance progressively. The framework is highly flexible and controllable by effectively decoupling various complex person image factors in the encoding phase, followed by re-coupling them in the decoding phase. In addition, we present a new normalization method named adaptive patch normalization, which enables region-specific normalization and shows a good performance when adopted in person image generation model. Experiments on two benchmark datasets show that our method is capable of generating visually appealing and realistic-looking results using arbitrary image and pose inputs.

2019 Text Guided Person Image Synthesis
abstract
This paper presents a novel method to manipulate the visual appearance (pose and attribute) of a person image according to natural language descriptions. Our method can be boiled down to two stages: 1) text guided pose generation and 2) visual appearance transferred image synthesis. In the first stage, our method infers a reasonable target human pose based on the text. In the second stage, our method synthesizes a realistic and appearance transferred person image according to the text in conjunction with the target pose. Our method extracts sufficient information from the text and establishes a mapping between the image space and the language space, making generating and editing images corresponding to the description possible. We conduct extensive experiments to reveal the effectiveness of our method, as well as using the VQA Perceptual Score as a metric for evaluating the method. It shows for the first time that we can automatically edit the person image from the natural language descriptions.
