2025 D&M: Enriching E-commerce Videos with Sound Effects by Key Moment Detection and SFX Matching
abstract
Videos showcasing specific products are increasingly important for E-commerce. Key moments naturally exist as the first appearance of a specific product, presentation of its distinctive features, the presence of a buying link, etc. Adding proper sound effects (SFX) to such moments, or video decoration with SFX (VDSFX), is crucial for enhancing user engaging experience. Previous work adds SFX to videos by video-to-SFX matching at a holistic level, lacking the ability of adding SFX to a specific moment. Meanwhile, previous studies on video highlight detection or video moment retrieval consider only moment localization, leaving moment to SFX matching untouched. By contrast, we propose in this paper D&M, a unified method that accomplishes key moment detection and moment-to-SFX matching simultaneously. Moreover, for the new VDSFX task we build a large-scale dataset SFX-Moment from an E-commerce video creation platform. For a fair comparison, we build competitive baselines by extending a number of current video moment detection methods to the new task. Extensive experiments on SFX-Moment show the superior performance of the proposed method over the baselines.

2024 An Unsupervised Gradient-Based Approach for Real-Time Log Analysis From Distributed Systems
abstract
We consider the problem of real-time log anomaly detection for distributed system with deep neural networks by unsupervised learning. There are two challenges in this problem, including detection accuracy and analysis efficacy. To tackle these two challenges, we propose GLAD, a simple yet effective approach mining for anomalies in distributed systems. To ensure detection accuracy, we exploit the gradient features in a well-calibrated deep neural network and analyze anomalous pattern within log files. To improve the analysis efficacy, we further integrate one-class support vector machine (SVM) into anomalous analysis, which significantly reduces the cost of anomaly decision boundary delineation. This effective integration successfully solves both accuracy and efficacy in real-time log anomaly detection. Also, since anomalous analysis is based upon unsupervised learning, it significantly reduces the extra data labeling cost. We conduct a series of experiments to justify that GLAD has the best comprehensive performance balanced between accuracy and efficiency, which implies the advantage in tackling practical problems. The results also reveal that GLAD enables effective anomaly mining and consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods on both recall and F1 scores.

2021 Reducing the Covariate Shift by Mirror Samples in Cross Domain Alignment
abstract
Eliminating the covariate shift cross domains is one of the common methods to deal with the issue of domain shift in visual unsupervised domain adaptation. However, current alignment methods, especially the prototype based or sample-level based methods neglect the structural properties of the underlying distribution and even break the condition of covariate shift. To relieve the limitations and conflicts, we introduce a novel concept named (virtual) mirror, which represents the equivalent sample in another domain. The equivalent sample pairs, named mirror pairs reflect the natural correspondence of the empirical distributions. Then a mirror loss, which aligns the mirror pairs cross domains, is constructed to enhance the alignment of the domains. The proposed method does not distort the internal structure of the underlying distribution. We also provide theoretical proof that the mirror samples and mirror loss have better asymptotic properties in reducing the domain shift. By applying the virtual mirror and mirror loss to the generic unsupervised domain adaptation model, we achieved consistently superior performance on several mainstream benchmarks.

2019 Deep Separable Convolution Neural Network for Illumination Estimation
abstract
Illumination estimation has been studied for a long time. The algorithms to solve the problem can be roughly divided into two categories: statistical-based and learning-based. Statistical-based algorithm has the advantage of fast computing speed but low accuracy. Learning-based algorithm improve the estimation accuracy to some extent, but generally have high computational complexity and storage space. In this paper, a new deep convolution neural network is proposed. We design the network with more layers (11 convolution layers) than the existing methods, remove the “skip connection” and “Global Average Pooling” is used to replace “Fully Connection” layer which is commonly used in the existing methods. We use the separable convolution instead of the standard convolution to reduce the number of parameters. In reprocessed Color Checker Dataset, compared with the present state-of-the-art the proposed method reduces the average angular error by about 60%. At the same time, using separable convolution and “Global Average Pooling” reduces the number of parameters by about 86% compared with do not use them.
