2026 Verb Mirage: Unveiling and Assessing Verb Concept Hallucinations in Multimodal Large Language Models
abstract
Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have garnered significant attention recently and demonstrate outstanding capabilities in various tasks such as OCR, VQA, captioning, etc. However, hallucination remains a persistent issue. While numerous methods have been proposed to mitigate hallucinations, achieving notable improvements, these methods primarily focus on mitigating hallucinations related to object/noun concepts. Verb concepts, which are crucial for understanding human actions, have been largely overlooked. In this paper, to the best of our knowledge, we are the first to investigate the verb hallucination phenomenon of MLLMs from various perspectives. Our findings reveal that most state-of-the-art MLLMs suffer from severe verb hallucination. To assess the effectiveness of existing mitigation methods for object concept hallucination in relation to verb hallucination, we evaluated these methods and found that they do not effectively address verb hallucination. To address this issue, we propose a baseline method based on fine-tuning with rich verb knowledge, achieving decent superiority. The experiment results demonstrate that our method significantly reduces hallucinations related to verbs.

2025 Demeaned Sparse: Efficient Anomaly Detection by Residual Estimate
abstract
Frequency-domain image anomaly detection methods can substantially enhance anomaly detection performance, however, they still lack an interpretable theoretical framework to guarantee the effectiveness of the detection process. We propose a novel test to detect anomalies in structural image via a Demeaned Fourier transform (DFT) under factor model framework, and we proof its effectiveness. We also briefly give the asymptotic theories of our test, the asymptotic theory explains why the test can detect anomalies at both the image and pixel levels within the theoretical lower bound. Based on our test, we derive a module called Demeaned Fourier Sparse (DFS) that effectively enhances detection performance in unsupervised anomaly detection tasks, which can construct masks in the Fourier domain and utilize a distribution-free sampling method similar to the bootstrap method. The experimental results indicate that this module can accurately and efficiently generate effective masks for reconstruction-based anomaly detection tasks, thereby enhancing the performance of anomaly detection methods and validating the effectiveness of the theoretical framework.

2023 GBTTE: Graph Attention Network Based Bus Travel Time Estimation
abstract
Real-time bus travel time is crucial for the smart public transportation system and is beneficial for improving user satisfaction for online map services. However, it faces great challenges due to fine-grained spatial dependencies and dynamic temporal dependencies. To address the above problem, we propose GBTTE, a novel end-to-end graph attention network framework to estimate bus travel time. Specifically, we construct a novel graph structure of bus routes and use a graph attention network to capture the fine-grained spatial features of bus routes. Then, we fully exploit the joint spatial-temporal relations of bus stops through a spatial-temporal graph attention network and also capture the dynamic correlation between the route and the bus transportation network with a cross graph attention network. Finally, we integrate the route representation, the spatial-temporal representation and contextual information to estimate bus travel time. Extensive experiments carried out on two large-scale real-world datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of GBTTE. In addition, GBTTE has been deployed in production at Baidu Maps, handling tens of millions of requests every day.
