2024 Passively Variable Flux PM Motor with Patterned Multi-Layer PCB Coil Technique
abstract
This paper proposes a motor with a passive variable Flux function that uses a self-excited wound-field and permanent magnets. The feature of this motor is that the stator and rotor coils are not wound, but are composed of printed circuit board coils that apply multi-layer pattern coil technique. First, the principle and structure of the proposed motor will be explained. Next, performance will be predicted using electromagnetic field simulation, and then the prototype will be revealed. Finally, the preliminary experimental test results will be demonstrated using the actual machine.

2024 Liquid Metal Transfer Experiment for Development of Electric Casting Systems
abstract
This paper reports the experimental test results of flow velocity of low-melting-point conductive liquid metal using a simplified electromagnetic pump model. A gallium was used as the low-melting-point metal in this experiment, and the flow velocity was measured by changing the gap length between the simply modeled electromagnetic pump and the gallium. As a result, the measured flow velocity map was clarified, and it was revealed that the excitation frequency contributes more to the change in flow velocity than the armature magnetomotive force by increasing the gap length.

2024 PCB Coil-end Type Radial Flux PM-Motor
abstract
For electrically micro mobility applications, an axial-length shorten is required in viewpoint of coil winding area of distributed winding stator. In this paper, a novel PCB coil-end stator is proposed which is composed of bar type conductors and multi-layer printed circuit. First, schematic design of PCB stator and multi-layer coil pattern is explained. Next, the measurement results of proposed motor are demonstrated. Then, optimized rotor magnetic circuit design for PCB coil-end stator is revealed.

2013 Rare-earth-less motor with field poles excited by space harmonics
abstract
This paper describes a synchronous motor in which space harmonics power is utilized for field magnetization instead of permanent magnets. The stator has a concentrated winding structure, and the rotor has two sorts of windings, i.e., an induction pole (I-pole) winding that retrieves mainly the third space harmonics and an excitation pole (E-pole) winding for the field magnetization. The both coils are connected via a diode rectifying circuit. By utilizing the E-pole torque magnetized with self-excitation, permanent magnet volume of the proposed motor is reduced by 81.4 %, compared with the benchmark IPM motor.
