2026 LongSplat: Online Generalizable 3D Gaussian Splatting from Long Sequence Images
abstract
3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) achieves high-fidelity novel view synthesis, but its application in online long-sequence scenarios is still restricted. Existing methods either rely on slow per-scene optimization or lack efficient frame-wise 3DGS updates, making them unsuitable for online long-sequence videos. In this paper, we propose LongSplat, an online real-time 3D Gaussian reconstruction framework designed for long-sequence image input. The core idea of LongSplat is to maintain a global 3DGS set and design a streaming 3DGS update mechanism that selectively compressing redundant historical Gaussians and introducing new Gaussians by comparing the current observations with the historical Gaussian. To achieve this goal, we design a Gaussian-Image Representation (GIR), which encodes 3D Gaussian parameters into a structured, image-like 2D format. GIR simultaneously enables identity-aware redundancy compression as well as the fusion of current view and historical Gaussians, which are used for online reconstruction and adapt the model to long sequences without overwhelming memory or computational costs. Extensive experiments demonstrate that LongSplat achieves state-of-the-art efficiency-quality trade-offs in real-time novel view synthesis, delivering real-time reconstruction while reducing Gaussian counts by 44% compared to per-pixel prediction paradigms.

2026 Seeing from Another Perspective: Evaluating Multi-View Understanding in MLLMs
abstract
Multi-view understanding, the ability to reconcile visual information across diverse viewpoints for effective navigation, manipulation, and 3D scene comprehension, is a fundamental challenge in Multi-Modal Large Language Models (MLLMs) to be used as embodied agents. While recent MLLMs have shown impressive advances in high-level reasoning and planning, they frequently fall short when confronted with multi-view geometric consistency and cross-view correspondence. To comprehensively evaluate the challenges of MLLMs in multi-view scene reasoning, we introduce All-Angles Bench, a human carefully benchmark with over 2,100 question-answer pairs from 90 diverse, real-world scenes. Our broad evaluation across 38 general-purpose and 3D spatial reasoning MLLMs reveals a substantial performance gap compared to humans. More critically, our analysis identifies two root failure modes: (1) cross-view object mismatch—the inability to establish consistent object correspondence across views; and (2) cross-view spatial misalignment—the failure to infer accurate camera poses and spatial layouts. These findings underscore a lack of multi-view awareness in current MLLMs, calling for architectural innovations beyond prompt tuning alone. We believe that our benchmark offers valuable insights toward building spatially-intelligent MLLMs.

2024 HeroMaker: Human-centric Video Editing with Motion Priors
abstract
Video generation and editing, particularly human-centric video editing, has seen a surge of interest in its potential to create immersive and dynamic content. A fundamental challenge is ensuring temporal coherence and visual harmony across frames, especially in handling large-scale human motion and maintaining consistency over long sequences. The previous methods, such as zero-shot text-to-video methods with diffusion model, struggle with flickering and length limitations. In contrast, methods employing Video-2D representations grapple with accurately capturing complex structural relationships in large-scale human motion. Simultaneously, some patterns on the human body appear intermittently throughout the video, posing a knotty problem in identifying visual correspondence. To address the above problems, we present HeroMaker. This human-centric video editing framework manipulates the person's appearance within the input video and achieves consistent results across frames. Specifically, we propose to learn the motion priors, which represent the correspondences between dual canonical fields and each video frame, by leveraging the body mesh-based human motion warping and neural deformation-based margin refinement in the video reconstruction framework to ensure the semantic correctness of canonical fields. HeroMaker performs human-centric video editing by manipulating the dual canonical fields and combining them with motion priors to synthesize temporally coherent and visually plausible results. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that our approach surpasses existing methods regarding temporal consistency, visual quality, and semantic coherence.

2023 PlaneDepth: Self-Supervised Depth Estimation via Orthogonal Planes
abstract
Multiple near frontal-parallel planes based depth representation demonstrated impressive results in self-supervised monocular depth estimation (MDE). Whereas, such a representation would cause the discontinuity of the ground as it is perpendicular to the frontal-parallel planes, which is detrimental to the identification of drivable space in autonomous driving. In this paper, we propose the PlaneDepth, a novel orthogonal planes based presentation, including vertical planes and ground planes. PlaneDepth estimates the depth distribution using a Laplacian Mixture Model based on orthogonal planes for an input image. These planes are used to synthesize a reference view to provide the self-supervision signal. Further, we find that the widely used resizing and cropping data augmentation breaks the orthogonality assumptions, leading to inferior plane predictions. We address this problem by explicitly constructing the resizing cropping transformation to rectify the predefined planes and predicted camera pose. Moreover, we propose an augmented self-distillation loss supervised with a bilateral occlusion mask to boost the robustness of orthogonal planes representation for occlusions. Thanks to our orthogonal planes representation, we can extract the ground plane in an unsupervised manner, which is important for autonomous driving. Extensive experiments on the KITTI dataset demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our method. The code is available at https://github.com/svip-lab/PlaneDepth.
