2026 Scale-up PIFO: Interleaving Multiple Priority Queues for High Speed Programmable Scheduling
abstract
Push-In First-Out (PIFO) offers a unified abstraction for rapidly deploying diverse scheduling algorithms on the same hardware. As SerDes-lane aggregation pushes port rates to 1.6 Tbps, the perpacket processing budget is at a sub-nanosecond scale, making single-queue PIFO designs fail to keep up. Mirroring lane aggregation, we advocate interleaving multiple PIFO queues. However, simple round-robin parallelization introduces substantial scheduling error, and in the worst case, it can grow to the order of the buffer size.

2024 vPIFO: Virtualized Packet Scheduler for Programmable Hierarchical Scheduling in High-Speed Networks
abstract
Programmable packet scheduling enables the integration of scheduling algorithms into switches without the need for hardware redesign. The Push-In First-Out (PIFO) queue facilitates a programmable packet scheduler, supporting a single scheduling algorithm flexibly. However, hierarchical scheduling required in Multi-Tenant Data Centers (MTDCs) remains non-programmable. Dynamic and diverse hierarchical scheduling algorithms necessitate alterations in both the number of PIFO queues and their connection topology, posing a significant challenge to support them on fixed hardware.

2024 Deep Learning With Physics-Embedded Neural Network for Full Waveform Ultrasonic Brain Imaging
abstract
The convenience, safety, and affordability of ultrasound imaging make it a vital non-invasive diagnostic technique for examining soft tissues. However, significant differences in acoustic impedance between the skull and soft tissues hinder the successful application of traditional ultrasound for brain imaging. In this study, we propose a physics-embedded neural network with deep learning based full waveform inversion (PEN-FWI), which can achieve reliable quantitative imaging of brain tissues. The network consists of two fundamental components: forward convolutional neural network (FCNN) and inversion sub-neural network (ISNN). The FCNN explores the nonlinear mapping relationship between the brain model and the wavefield, replacing the tedious wavefield calculation process based on the finite difference method. The ISNN implements the mapping from the wavefield to the model. PEN-FWI includes three iterative steps, each embedding the F CNN into the ISNN, ultimately achieving tomography from wavefield to brain models. Simulation and laboratory tests indicate that PEN-FWI can produce high-quality imaging of the skull and soft tissues, even starting from a homogeneous water model. PEN-FWI can achieve excellent imaging of clot models with constant uniform distribution of velocity, randomly Gaussian distribution of velocity, and irregularly shaped randomly distributed velocity. Robust differentiation can also be achieved for brain slices of various tissues and skulls, resulting in high-quality imaging. The imaging time for a horizontal cross-sectional imag e of the brain is only 1.13 seconds. This algorithm can effectively promote ultrasound-based brain tomography and provide feasible solutions in other fields.

2019 A Framework for 3D Object Detection and Pose Estimation in Unstructured Environment Using Single Shot Detector and Refined LineMOD Template Matching
abstract
In order to improve the robot's perception ability in the complicated environment, especially the unstructured environment, a framework of 3D object detection and pose estimation using single shot detector (SSD) and modified LineMOD template matching is proposed, which can detect multiple objects and estimate their pose simultaneously. Firstly, the initial object detection (the first detection) is realized by single shot detector network and therefore the region of interest (RoI) of target objects are generated. LineMOD template matching is then applied to provide candidate templates. These calculated templates are grouped by the designed clustering algorithm. After sorting the clusters according to the descending order of the average similarity, non-maximum suppression removes the similar results and provide the further multiple detection results (the second detection). Finally, based on the results from the second detection, the pose of the object is estimated by using iterative closest point (ICP) algorithm. The object detection experiments show that on Tejani dataset, the average recognition rate of six objects reaches 99.25%. For the object pose estimation, F1 of the proposed method is 21.7% higher than the conventional method in the pose estimation experiments. Also, F1 of the presented algorithm is 9.5% higher than Deep-6Dpose method. Both comparison experiments verify the effectiveness of the proposed framework. Further, this framework for object detection and pose estimation is employed to do robotic grasping. In particular, the workpiece of steel plates is grabbed, which is a necessary procedure of the polishing technique.
