2026 Erasure Coding-Based Cost-Optimized and Latency-Aware Data Storage in UAV-Enabled Edge Systems
abstract
UAV-enabled edge storage systems provide data storage services to users by deploying UAVs in areas lacking infrastructure coverage, overcoming delay limitations and improving Quality of Service (QoS). Most existing studies focus on storing replicas on UAVs to ensure low-latency data access. Nonetheless, replica-based strategies incur high storage cost, posing significant challenges for UAVs with limited storage resources. In this paper, we introduce erasure coding into the UAV-enabled edge storage system, aiming to reduce user data access latency while minimizing storage cost. However, the mobility of users and the non-fully-connected nature of the UAV network pose new challenges for the coupled decisions of data encoding, block placement, and access. In this paper, we propose a Mobility-Enhanced Hierarchical Deep Reinforcement Learning algorithm (ME-HDRL). Specifically, we design a trajectory prediction algorithm combining CNN and ConvLSTM to account for user mobility in decision-making. We further decompose the original problem into two subproblems: data encoding and placement, as well as block access. A hierarchical deep reinforcement learning algorithm involving multiple UAV agents and an edge agent is proposed to collaboratively learn optimal decisions. To improve the convergence of the algorithm, we design an invalid action filter to reduce the action space. Experimental results show that our approach outperforms existing rule-based and reinforcement learning-based algorithms in various scenarios, exhibiting significant convergence improvements and a substantial reduction in both storage cost and user data access latency.

2025 Energy-Efficient Multi-AAV Collaborative Reliable Storage: A Deep Reinforcement Learning Approach
abstract
Autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV) crowdsensing, as a complement to mobile crowdsensing, can provide ubiquitous sensing in extreme environments and has gathered significant attention in recent years. In this article, we investigate the issue of sensing data storage in AAV crowdsensing without edge assistance, where sensing data is stored locally in the AAVs. In this scenario, replication scheme is usually adopted to ensure data availability, and our objective is to find an optimal replica distribution scheme to maximize data availability while minimizing system energy consumption. Given the NP-hard nature of the optimization problem, traditional methods cannot achieve optimal solutions within limited timeframes. Therefore, we propose a centralized training and decentralized execution deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithm based on actor-critic, named “MUCRS-DRL.” Specifically, this method derives the optimal replica placement scheme based on AAV state information and data file information. Simulation results show that compared to the baseline methods, the proposed algorithm reduces data loss rate, time consumption, and energy consumption by up to 88%, 11%, and 11%, respectively.

2025 Joint Semantic Extraction and Resource Optimization in Communication-Efficient UAV Crowd Sensing
abstract
With the integration of IoT and 5G technologies, UAV crowd sensing has emerged as a promising solution to overcome the limitations of traditional Mobile Crowd Sensing (MCS) in terms of sensing coverage. As a result, UAV crowd sensing has been widely adopted across various domains. However, existing UAV crowd sensing methods often overlook the semantic information within sensing data, leading to low transmission efficiency. To address the challenges of semantic extraction and transmission optimization in UAV crowd sensing, this paper decomposes the problem into two sub-problems: semantic feature extraction and task-oriented sensing data transmission optimization. To tackle the semantic feature extraction problem, we propose a semantic communication module based on Multi-Scale Dilated Fusion Attention (MDFA), which aims to balance data compression, classification accuracy, and feature reconstruction under noisy channel conditions. For transmission optimization, we develop a reinforcement learning-based joint optimization strategy that effectively manages UAV mobility, bandwidth allocation, and semantic compression, thereby enhancing transmission efficiency and task performance. Extensive experiments conducted on real-world datasets and simulated environments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, showing significant improvements in communication efficiency and sensing performance under various conditions.

2024 TAN: A Tripartite Alignment Network Enhancing Composed Image Retrieval with Momentum Distillation
abstract
Composed image retrieval is designed to more accurately retrieve target images that align with user intentions by using a combination of reference images and descriptive modification texts. However, existing methods primarily focus on designing complex feature fusion networks while neglecting the prevalent issues of noise and inconsistent sample quality in training data, leading to insufficient cross-modal semantic alignment and sample relevance modeling. To address this, we propose an innovative Tripartite Alignment Network (TAN) that introduces a momentum distillation mechanism, leveraging the historical knowledge of a teacher network as additional super-vision to guide the optimization of the student network. During the feature encoder fine-tuning stage, we design response-based knowledge distillation and feature-based knowledge distillation techniques, explicitly strengthening modal alignment through composed-target contrastive learning and implicitly promoting modal fusion via composed-target matching learning. In the combiner training stage, we incorporate a lightweight combiner network and employ a cross-entropy-based matching loss function, encouraging high matching scores for relevant image-text pairs and low scores for irrelevant pairs. Extensive experiments on the FashionIQ and Shoes datasets demonstrate that TAN exhibits superior performance compared to existing state-of-the-art methods, with notable improvements in R@10 of +14.03% and +13.09%, respectively. These results affirm the effectiveness of momentum distillation in multimodal learning. Access the source code at https://github.com/Maserhe/TAN.

2022 Incremental Entity Summarization With Formal Concept Analysis
abstract
Knowledge graph describes entities by numerous RDF data (subject-predicate-object triples), which has been widely applied in various fields, such as artificial intelligence, Semantic Web, entity summarization. With time elapses, the continuously increasing RDF descriptions of entity lead to information overload and further cause people confused. With this backdrop, automatic entity summarization has received much attention in recent years, aiming to select the most concise and most typical facts that depict an entity in brief from lengthy RDF data. As new descriptions of entity are continually coming, creating a compact summary of entity quickly from a lengthy knowledge graph is challenging. To address this problem, this article first formulates the problem and proposes a novel approach of Incremental Entity Summarization by leveraging Formal Concept Analysis (FCA), called IES-FCA. Additionally, we not only prove the rationality of our suggested method mathematically, but also carry out extensive experiments using two real-world datasets. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method IES-FCA can save about 8.7 percent of time consumption for all entities than the non-incremental entity summarization approach KAFCA at best. As for the effectiveness, IES-FCA outperforms the state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of$F1-measure$,$MAP$, and$NDCG$.

2020 Fine-Grained Context-aware Ad Targeting on Social Media Platforms
abstract
One of the most important sources of revenue for social media platforms, like, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc., is advertising. An effective social media advertising plan moves people from awareness and interest in desire and action. Despite the potentiality, campaigns and marketing strategies should be improved. One of the challenges is to identify the right target audience at the right time, considering both communities of interests and locations and the development of these conditions along the timeline. This is crucial to create the right communication strategy and the right advertising message. This paper proposes a context-aware ad-targeting methodology using time, locations, and inferring users' interests by analyzing published content. The method relies on a fuzzy extension of Triadic Formal Concept Analysis for identifying Location-based and Content-based communities of users. Then, a task of community fusion takes place, named Join, for matching a target audience. The matching may be tuned for identifying a wide or narrow community and implementing a fine-grained ad targeting. Experimental results are given.
