2020 Annotating a broad range of anaphoric phenomena, in a variety of genres: the ARRAU Corpus
abstract
Abstract This paper presents the second release ofarrau, a multigenre corpus of anaphoric information created over 10 years to provide data for the next generation of coreference/anaphora resolution systems combining different types of linguistic and world knowledge with advanced discourse modeling supporting rich linguistic annotations. The distinguishing features ofarrauinclude the following: treating all NPs as markables, including non-referring NPs, and annotating their (non-) referentiality status; distinguishing between several categories of non-referentiality and annotating non-anaphoric mentions; thorough annotation of markable boundaries (minimal/maximal spans, discontinuous markables); annotating a variety of mention attributes, ranging from morphosyntactic parameters to semantic category; annotating the genericity status of mentions; annotating a wide range of anaphoric relations, including bridging relations and discourse deixis; and, finally, annotating anaphoric ambiguity. The current version of the dataset contains 350K tokens and is publicly available from LDC. In this paper, we discuss in detail all the distinguishing features of the corpus, so far only partially presented in a number of conference and workshop papers, and we also discuss the development between the first release ofarrauin 2008 and this second one.

2018 Supervised Clustering of Questions into Intents for Dialog System Applications
abstract
Modern automated dialog systems require complex dialog managers able to deal with user intent triggered by high-level semantic questions. In this paper, we propose a model for automatically clustering questions into user intents to help the design tasks.Since questions are short texts, uncovering their semantics to group them together can be very challenging. We approach the problem by using powerful semantic classifiers from question duplicate/matching research along with a novel idea of supervised clustering methods based on structured output. We test our approach on two intent clustering corpora, showing an impressive improvement over previous methods for two languages/domains.

2017 Collaborative Partitioning for Coreference Resolution
abstract
This paper presents a collaborative partitioning algorithm-a novel ensemblebased approach to coreference resolution.Starting from the all-singleton partition, we search for a solution close to the ensemble's outputs in terms of a task-specific similarity measure. Our approach assumes a loose integration of individual components of the ensemble and can therefore combine arbitrary coreference resolvers, regardless of their models. Our experiments on the CoNLL dataset show that collaborative partitioning yields results superior to those attained by the individual components, for ensembles of both strong and weak systems. Moreover, by applying the collaborative partitioning algorithm on top of three state-of-the-art resolvers, we obtain the second-best coreference performance reported so far in the literature (MELA v08 score of 64.47).

2016 Can machine learning aid in delivering new use cases and scenarios in 5G?
abstract
5G represents the next generation of communication networks and services, and will bring a new set of use cases and scenarios. These in turn will address a new set of challenges from the network and service management perspective, such as network traffic and resource management, big data management and energy efficiency. Consequently, novel techniques and strategies are required to address these challenges in a smarter way. In this paper, we present the limitations of the current network and service management and describe in detail the challenges that 5G is expected to face from a management perspective. The main contribution of this paper is presenting a set of use cases and scenarios of 5G in which machine learning can aid in addressing their management challenges. It is expected that machine learning can provide a higher and more intelligent level of monitoring and management of networks and applications, improve operational efficiencies and facilitate the requirements of the future 5G network.
