2025 Hash-GS: Anchor-Based 3D Gaussian Splatting with Multi-Resolution Hash Encoding for Efficient Scene Reconstruction
abstract
Realistic 3D object and scene reconstruction is pivotal in advancing fields such as world model simulation and embodied intelligence. In this paper, we introduce Hash-GS, a storage-efficient method for large-scale scene reconstruction using anchor-based 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS). The vanilla 3DGS struggles with high memory demands due to the large number of primitives, especially in complex or extensive scenes. Hash-GS addresses these challenges with a compact representation by leveraging high-dimensional features to parameterize primitive properties, stored in compact hash tables, which reduces memory usage while preserving rendering quality. It also incorporates adaptive anchor management to efficiently control the number of anchors and neural Gaussians. Additionally, we introduce an analytic 3D smoothing filter to mitigate aliasing and support Level-of-Detail for optimized rendering across varying intrinsic parameters. Experimental results on several datasets demonstrate that Hash-GS improves storage efficiency while maintaining competitive rendering performance, especially in large-scale scenes.

2024 Lifestyle factors in the biomedical literature: an ontology and comprehensive resources for named entity recognition
abstract
MOTIVATION: Despite lifestyle factors (LSFs) being increasingly acknowledged in shaping individual health trajectories, particularly in chronic diseases, they have still not been systematically described in the biomedical literature. This is in part because no named entity recognition (NER) system exists, which can comprehensively detect all types of LSFs in text. The task is challenging due to their inherent diversity, lack of a comprehensive LSF classification for dictionary-based NER, and lack of a corpus for deep learning-based NER. RESULTS: We present a novel lifestyle factor ontology (LSFO), which we used to develop a dictionary-based system for recognition and normalization of LSFs. Additionally, we introduce a manually annotated corpus for LSFs (LSF200) suitable for training and evaluation of NER systems, and use it to train a transformer-based system. Evaluating the performance of both NER systems on the corpus revealed an F-score of 64% for the dictionary-based system and 76% for the transformer-based system. Large-scale application of these systems on PubMed abstracts and PMC Open Access articles identified over 300 million mentions of LSF in the biomedical literature. AVAILABILITY AND IMPLEMENTATION: LSFO, the annotated LSF200 corpus, and the detected LSFs in PubMed and PMC-OA articles using both NER systems, are available under open licenses via the following GitHub repository: https://github.com/EsmaeilNourani/LSFO-expansion. This repository contains links to two associated GitHub repositories and a Zenodo project related to the study. LSFO is also available at BioPortal: https://bioportal.bioontology.org/ontologies/LSFO.

2022 Dual-Disturbance Observers-Based Control for a Class of Singularly Perturbed Systems
abstract
Singularly perturbed systems (SPSs) wildly exist in practical engineering practice; however, the disturbance rejection in SPSs is still a problem. As well-known disturbance rejection methods, composite hierarchical anti-disturbance control (CHADC) can effectively compensate and suppress disturbance, which improves the control performances of complex systems. To enhance the capability of anti-disturbance and control precision, this article proposes a novel composite hierarchical anti-disturbance (CHAD) dynamic surface control (DSC) for the fast subsystem considering highly dynamic disturbance, and CHAD proportion-integration (PI) control for the slow subsystem with slow-varying harmonic disturbance. The disturbances are supposed to be generated by an exogenous system based on partially known information with model uncertainty, and the stabilities of both fast and slow closed-loop subsystems are analyzed. Meanwhile, the compensability of disturbances is discussed. Finally, simulations for an F-8 aircraft are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
