2026 Strip R-CNN: Large Strip Convolution for Remote Sensing Object Detection
abstract
In this paper, we show that current approaches using large square kernels or transformer-based global modeling aggregate contextual information uniformly across spatial dimensions, leading to feature dilution and localization errors for elongated targets. To mitigate this issue, we propose Strip R-CNN, the first work to systematically explore large strip convolutions for remote sensing object detection. Our key insight is that strip convolutions enable directional feature aggregation along the dominant spatial dimension of slender objects, reducing background interference while preserving essential geometric information. We design two core components: (i) StripNet, a backbone network employing sequential orthogonal large strip convolutions to capture anisotropic spatial patterns, and (ii) Strip Head, which enhances localization precision by incorporating strip convolutions into the detection head. Unlike previous large-kernel approaches that suffer from computational redundancy and isotropic limitations, our method achieves superior performance with remarkable efficiency. Extensive experiments on multiple benchmarks (DOTA, FAIR1M, HRSC2016, and DIOR) demonstrate significant improvements, with our 30M parameter model achieving 82.75% mAP on DOTA-v1.0, establishing a new state-of-the-art record while providing new insights into anisotropic feature learning for remote sensing applications.

2026 Ivy-Fake: A Unified Explainable Framework and Benchmark for Image and Video AIGC Detection
abstract
The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) techniques has enabled the creation of high-quality synthetic content, but it also raises significant security concerns. Current detection methods face two major limitations: (1) the lack of multidimensional explainable datasets for generated images and videos. Existing open-source datasets (e.g., WildFake, GenVideo) rely on oversimplified binary annotations, which restrict the explainability and trustworthiness of trained detectors. (2) Prior MLLM-based forgery detectors (e.g., FakeVLM) exhibit insufficiently fine-grained interpretability in their step-by-step reasoning, which hinders reliable localization and explanation. To address these challenges, we introduce Ivy-Fake, the first large-scale multimodal benchmark for fake image and video detection. It consists of over 106K richly annotated training samples (images and videos) and 5,000 manually verified evaluation examples, sourced from multiple generative models and real-world datasets through a carefully designed pipeline to ensure both diversity and quality. Furthermore, we propose Ivy-xDetector, a multimodel large language model (MLLM) based on reinforcement fine-tuning (RFT), capable of producing explainable reasoning chains and achieving robust performance across multiple fake image and video detection benchmarks.

2025 Photography Perspective Composition: Towards Aesthetic Perspective Recommendation
abstract
Traditional photography composition approaches are dominated by 2D cropping-based methods. However, these methods fall short when scenes contain poorly arranged subjects. Professional photographers often employ perspective adjustment as a form of 3D recomposition, modifying the projected 2D relationships between subjects while maintaining their actual spatial positions to achieve better compositional balance. Inspired by this artistic practice, we propose photography perspective composition (PPC), extending beyond traditional cropping-based methods. However, implementing the PPC faces significant challenges: the scarcity of perspective transformation datasets and undefined assessment criteria for perspective quality. To address these challenges, we present three key contributions: (1) An automated framework for building PPC datasets through expert photographs. (2) A video generation approach that demonstrates the transformation process from less favorable to aesthetically enhanced perspectives. (3) A perspective quality assessment (PQA) model constructed based on human performance. Our approach is concise and requires no additional prompt instructions or camera trajectories, helping and guiding ordinary users to enhance their composition skills.

2025 SE-GUI: Enhancing Visual Grounding for GUI Agents via Self-Evolutionary Reinforcement Learning
abstract
Graphical User Interface (GUI) agents have made substantial strides in understanding and executing user instructions across diverse platforms. Yet, grounding these instructions to precise interface elements remains challenging—especially in complex, high-resolution, professional environments. Traditional supervised fine-tuning (SFT) methods often require large volumes of diverse data and exhibit weak generalization. To overcome these limitations, we introduce a reinforcement learning (RL)-based framework that incorporates three core strategies: (1) seed data curation to ensure high-quality training samples, (2) a dense policy gradient that provides continuous feedback based on prediction accuracy, and (3) a self-evolutionary reinforcement finetuning mechanism that iteratively refines the model using attention maps. With only 3k training samples, our 7B-parameter model achieves state-of-the-art results among similarly sized models on three grounding benchmarks. Notably, it attains 47.3\% accuracy on the ScreenSpot-Pro dataset—outperforming much larger models, such as UI-TARS-72B, by a margin of 24.2\%. These findings underscore the effectiveness of RL-based approaches in enhancing GUI agent performance, particularly in high-resolution, complex environments.

2025 YOLO-MS: Rethinking Multi-Scale Representation Learning for Real-Time Object Detection
abstract
We aim at providing the object detection community with an efficient and performant object detector, termed YOLO-MS. The core design is based on a series of investigations on how multi-branch features of the basic block and convolutions with different kernel sizes affect the detection performance of objects at different scales. The outcome is a new strategy that can significantly enhance multi-scale feature representations of real-time object detectors. To verify the effectiveness of our work, we train our YOLO-MS on the MS COCO dataset from scratch without relying on any other large-scale datasets, like ImageNet or pre-trained weights. Without bells and whistles, our YOLO-MS outperforms the recent state-of-the-art real-time object detectors, including YOLO-v7, RTMDet, and YOLO-v8. Taking the XS version of YOLO-MS as an example, it can achieve an AP score of 42+% on MS COCO, which is about 2% higher than RTMDet with the same model size. Furthermore, our work can also serve as a plug-and-play module for other YOLO models. Typically, our method significantly advances the APs, APl, and AP of YOLOv8-N from 18%+, 52%+, and 37%+ to 20%+, 55%+, and 40%+, respectively, with even fewer parameters and MACs.

2021 CGAN-IRB: A Novel Data Augmentation Method for Apple Leaf Diseases
abstract
At present, the identification of apple leaf diseases plays an important role in controlling apple leaf diseases and improving apple yield. CNNs(Convolutional Neural Networks) have been widely used in apple leaf diseases identification, but the training of the CNNs requires a large number of images. The lack of images would make the CNNs hard to generalize. Thus the CNNs are unable to recognize new disease images. Focusing on this problem, this paper proposes a new model named CGAN-IRB(Conditional Generative Adversarial Network with the Improved Residual Block) for data augmentation. Firstly, various improvements have been made based on CGAN to generate high-quality, robust, and specific-category images of apple leaf diseases. Among which the embedding of the residual block has been found to significantly improve the model performance. Then the interpolation algorithm is used instead of deconvolution to increase the image size. Finally, the TTUR(Two-Timescale Update Rule) training strategy is employed and all the convolutional layers of the network are spectrally normalized to stabilize the training of the network. The performance of CGAN-IRB was tested both on image generation and classification tasks. Experiment results show that the images generated by the network possess high quality and robust features, pro-viding a novel solution for the data augmentation of apple leaf diseases. The new GAN-based data augmentation method leads to significant improvements in the classification accuracy of CNNs. In the case of all tested CNNs, the classification accuracy improvements are 11.75% and 2.17% on average over non-augmented and traditional-augmented, respectively. Among them, the classification accuracy of GoogLeNet V2 and ShuffleNet V2 is 99.34% and 99.67%, respectively. The data augmentation approach proposed in this paper can be used more widely in the field of disease identification, solving the problem of insufficient data sets, and can be extended to related fields where data sets are difficult to obtain.
