2026 Promptus: Can Prompt Streaming Replace Video Streaming
abstract
With the exponential growth of video traffic, traditional video streaming systems are approaching their limits in communication capacity. To further reduce bitrate while maintaining quality, we propose Promptus, a disruptive semantic communication system that streams prompts instead of videos. Promptus represents the real-world video with a series of "prompts" for delivery and employs Stable Diffusion to generate the same video at the receiver. To ensure that the generated video is pixel-aligned with the original video, a gradient descent-based prompt fitting framework is proposed. Further, a low-rank decomposition-based bitrate control algorithm is introduced to achieve adaptive bitrate. For inter-frame compression, an interpolation-aware fitting algorithm is proposed. Evaluations across various video genres demonstrate that, compared to H.265, Promptus can achieve more than a 4x bandwidth reduction while preserving the same perceptual quality. On the other hand, at extremely low bitrates, Promptus can enhance the perceptual quality by 0.139 and 0.118 (in LPIPS) compared to VAE and H.265, respectively, and decreases the ratio of severely distorted frames by 89.3% and 91.7%. Our work opens up a new paradigm for efficient video communication.

2023 Factorized Omnidirectional Representation based Vision GNN for Anisotropic 3D Multimodal MR Image Segmentation
abstract
Anisotropy arises due to the influence of scanning equipment and parameters, resulting in a distance between slices that is often much greater than the actual distance represented by a single pixel within each slice. This can lead to inefficiency or ineffectiveness in 3D convolution. To address the anisotropy issue, we propose FOrViG, an asymmetric vision graph neural network (GNN) framework that captures the correlation between different slices by constructing a graph for multi-slice images and aggregating information from adjacent nodes. This allows FOrViG to efficiently extract 3D spatial scale information, and effectively identify feature nodes associated with small lesions efficiently, thereby improving the accuracy of lesion segmentation on anisotropic 3D multimodal MR images. As far as we know, this is the first study that adopts GNN to address anisotropy issues. Additionally, we also design a factorized omnidirectional representation method and a supervised multi-perspective contrastive learning strategy to enhance the capability of FOrViG in learning multi-scale omnidirectional presentation information, graphics construction, and distinguishing foreground from background. Extensive experiments on the PI-CAI dataset demonstrate that FOrViG significantly outperforms several state-of-the-art 3D segmentation algorithms.

2023 ActRay: Online Active Ray Sampling for Radiance Fields
abstract
Thanks to the high-quality reconstruction and photorealistic rendering, the Neural Radiance Field (NeRF) has garnered extensive attention and has been continuously improved. Despite its high visual quality, the prohibitive training time limits its practical application. Although significant acceleration has been achieved, it is still far from real-time training, due to the need for tens of thousands of iterations. In this paper, a feasible solution is to reduce the number of required iterations by always training the rays with the highest loss values, instead of the traditional method of training each ray with a uniform probability. To this end, we propose an online active ray sampling strategy, ActRay. Specifically, to avoid the substantial overhead of calculating the actual loss values for all rays in each iteration, a rendering-gradient-based loss propagation algorithm is presented to efficiently estimate the loss values. To further narrow the gap between the estimated loss and the actual loss, an online learning algorithm based on the Upper Confidence Bound (UCB) is proposed to control the sampling probability of the rays, thereby compensating for the bias in loss estimation. We evaluate ActRay on both real-world and synthetic scenes, and the promising results show that it accelerates radiance field training by 6.5x. Besides, we test ActRay under all kinds of radiance field representations (implicit, explicit, and hybrid), proving that it is general and effective to different representations. We believe this work will contribute to the practical application of radiance fields, because it has taken a step closer to real-time radiance field training. 2022 An Efficient Multi-View Multimodal Data Processing Framework for Social Media Popularity Prediction
abstract
Popularity of social media is an important symbol of its communication power. Predictions of social media popularity have tremendous business and social value. In this paper, we propose an efficient multimodal data processing framework, which can comprehensively extract the multi-view features from multimodal social media data and achieve accurate popularity prediction. We utilize Transformer and sliding window average to extract time series features of posts, utilize CatBoost to calculate the importance of different features, and integrate important features extracted from multiple views for accurate prediction of social media popularity. We evaluate our proposed approach with the Social Media Prediction Dataset. Experimental results show that our approach achieves excellent performance in the social media popularity prediction task.
