2025 SpecWav-Attack: Leveraging Spectrogram Resizing and Wav2Vec 2.0 for Attacking Anonymized Speech
abstract
This paper presents SpecWav-Attack, an adversarial model for detecting speakers in anonymized speech. It leverages Wav2Vec2 for feature extraction [1] and incorporates spectrogram resizing and incremental training for improved performance. Evaluated on librispeech-dev and librispeech-test, SpecWav-Attack outperforms conventional attacks, revealing vulnerabilities in anonymized speech systems and emphasizing the need for stronger defenses, benchmarked against the ICASSP 2025 Attacker Challenge [2].

2025 SFE-Net: Harnessing Biological Principles of Differential Gene Expression for Improved Feature Selection in Deep Learning Networks
abstract
In the realm of DeepFake detection, the challenge of adapting to various synthesis methodologies such as Faceswap, Deepfakes, Face2Face, and NeuralTextures significantly impacts the performance of traditional machine learning models. These models often suffer from static feature representation, which struggles to perform consistently across diversely generated deepfake datasets. Inspired by the biological concept of differential gene expression, where gene activation is dynamically regulated in response to environmental stimuli, we introduce the Selective Feature Expression Network (SFE-Net). This innovative framework integrates selective feature activation principles into deep learning architectures, allowing the model to dynamically adjust feature priorities in response to varying deepfake generation techniques. SFE-Net employs a novel mechanism that selectively enhances critical features essential for accurately detecting forgeries, while reducing the impact of irrelevant or misleading cues akin to adaptive evolutionary processes in nature. Through rigorous testing on a range of deepfake datasets, SFE-Net not only surpasses existing static models in detecting sophisticated forgeries but also shows enhanced generalization capabilities in cross-dataset scenarios. Our approach significantly mitigates overfitting by maintaining a dynamic balance between feature exploration and exploitation, thus producing more robust and effective deepfake detection models. This bio-inspired strategy paves the way for developing adaptive deep learning systems that are finely tuned to address the nuanced challenges posed by the varied nature of digital forgeries in modern digital forensics.

2025 Leveraging MLLM Embeddings and Attribute Smoothing for Compositional Zero-Shot Learning
abstract
Compositional zero-shot learning (CZSL) aims to recognize novel compositions of attributes and objects learned from seen compositions. Previous works disentangle attributes and objects by extracting shared and exclusive parts between the image pair sharing the same attribute (object), as well as aligning them with pretrained word embeddings to improve unseen attribute-object recognition. Despite the significant achievements of existing efforts, they are hampered by three limitations: (1) The efficacy of disentanglement is compromised due to the influence of the background and the intricate entanglement of attributes with objects in the same parts. (2) Existing word embeddings fail to capture complex multimodal semantic information. (3) Overconfidence exhibited by existing models in seen compositions hinders their generalization to novel compositions. Being aware of these, we propose a novel framework named multimodal large language model (MLLM) embeddings and attribute smoothing guided disentanglement for CZSL. First, we leverage feature adaptive aggregation modules to mitigate the impact of background, and utilize learnable condition masks to capture multi-granularity features for disentanglement. Moreover, the last hidden states of MLLM are employed as word embeddings for their superior representation capabilities. Furthermore, we propose attribute smoothing with auxiliary attributes generated by the large language model (LLM) for seen compositions to address the overconfidence challenge. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance on three challenging datasets. 2024 MS-SENet: Enhancing Speech Emotion Recognition Through Multi-Scale Feature Fusion with Squeeze-and-Excitation Blocks
abstract
Speech Emotion Recognition (SER) has become a growing focus of research in human-computer interaction. Spatiotemporal features play a crucial role in SER, yet current research lacks comprehensive spatiotemporal feature learning. This paper focuses on addressing this gap by proposing a novel approach. In this paper, we employ Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with varying kernel sizes for spatial and temporal feature extraction. Additionally, we introduce Squeeze-and-Excitation (SE) modules to capture and fuse multi-scale features, facilitating effective information fusion for improved emotion recognition and a deeper understanding of the temporal evolution of speech emotion. Moreover, we employ skip-connections and Spatial Dropout (SD) layers to prevent overfitting and increase the model’s depth. Our method outperforms the previous state-of-the-art method, achieving an average UAR and WAR improvement of 1.62% and 1.32%, respectively, across six benchmark SER datasets. Further experiments demonstrated that our method can fully extract spatiotemporal features in low-resource conditions.

2023 MetaZSCIL: A Meta-Learning Approach for Generalized Zero-Shot Class Incremental Learning
abstract
Generalized zero-shot learning (GZSL) aims to recognize samples whose categories may not have been seen at training. Standard GZSL cannot handle dynamic addition of new seen and unseen classes. In order to address this limitation, some recent attempts have been made to develop continual GZSL methods. However, these methods require end-users to continuously collect and annotate numerous seen class samples, which is unrealistic and hampers the applicability in the real-world. Accordingly, in this paper, we propose a more practical and challenging setting named Generalized Zero-Shot Class Incremental Learning (CI-GZSL). Our setting aims to incrementally learn unseen classes without any training samples, while recognizing all classes previously encountered. We further propose a bi-level meta-learning based method called MetaZSCIL to directly optimize the network to learn how to incrementally learn. Specifically, we sample sequential tasks from seen classes during the offline training to simulate the incremental learning process. For each task, the model is learned using a meta-objective such that it is capable to perform fast adaptation without forgetting. Note that our optimization can be flexibly equipped with most existing generative methods to tackle CI-GZSL. This work introduces a feature generative framework that leverages visual feature distribution alignment to produce replayed samples of previously seen classes to reduce catastrophic forgetting. Extensive experiments conducted on five widely used benchmarks demonstrate the superiority of our proposed method.
