| 2021 | A new semi-supervised algorithm combined with MCICA optimizing SVM for motion imagination EEG classificationabstractThis paper proposed a new semi-supervised algorithm combined with Mutual-cross Imperial Competition Algorithm (MCICA) optimizing Support Vector Machine (SVM) for motion imagination EEG classification, which not only reduces the tedious and time-consuming training process and enhances the adaptability of Brain Computer Interface (BCI), but also utilizes the MCICA to optimize the parameters of SVM in the semi-supervised process. This algorithm combines mutual information and cross validation to construct objective function in the semi-supervised training process, and uses the constructed objective function to establish the semi-supervised model of MCICA for optimizing the parameters of SVM, and finally applies the selected optimal parameters to the data set Iva of 2005 BCI competition to verify its effectiveness. The results showed that the proposed algorithm is effective in optimizing parameters and has good robustness and generalization in solving small sample classification problems. | 2020 | A New Method for Railway Fastener Detection Using the Symmetrical Image and Its EA-HOG FeatureabstractRailway fastener recognition and detection is an important task for railway operation safety. However, the current automatic inspection methods based on computer vision can effectively detect the intact or completely missing fasteners, but they have weaker ability to recognize the partially worn ones. In our method, we exploit the EA-HOG feature fastener image, generate two symmetrical images of original test image and turn the detection of the original test image into the detection of two symmetrical images, then integrate the two recognition results of symmetrical image to reach exact recognition of original test image. The potential advantages of the proposed method are as follows: First, we propose a simple yet efficient method to extract the fastener edge, as well as the EA-HOG feature of the fastener image. Second, the symmetry images indeed reflect some possible appearance of the fastener image which are not shown in the original images, these changes are helpful for us to judge the status of the symmetry samples based on the improved sparse representation algorithm and then obtain an exact judgment of the original test image by combining the two corresponding judgments of its symmetry images. The experiment results show that the proposed approach achieves a rather high recognition result and meets the demand of railway fastener detection. Jiajia Liu 0005, Jianying Yuan, Yongfang Jia |

| 2019 | Robust Instruments Position Estimation using Improved Kernelized Correlation Filter for Substation Patrol RobotsabstractSubstation patrol robots (SIR) play an increasingly important role in ensuring the safe operation of substations. The robust and precise position estimating of the instruments to be inspected on the images are a prerequisite for accurately detecting the target states or obtaining the target readings under all-weather environment. In order to achieve high location accuracy of instrument, this study proposed an improved kernelized correlation filter (KCF) algorithm for achieving robust instrument location on images for SPR. Firstly, multiple templates are selected for training KCF classifier parameters. Then, reliable SURF matching-point determination method is designed, and the regions including reliable matching points are selected as the candidate regions, so that the searching range is narrowed. Finally, for KCF response surface of each candidate region, Single-Peak Constraint (SPC) is designed for locating target and reducing mismatching rate. Furthermore, experiments are performed for validating the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, in which four instruments mainly including lightning arrester monitor and transformer thermometer are selected. The experimental results show that the proposed method has higher accuracy of target localization than traditional SURF-based position estimating method. Jianying Yuan, Jiajia Liu 0005 |

| 2012 | pIRS: Profile-based Illumina pair-end reads simulatorabstractMOTIVATION: The next-generation high-throughput sequencing technologies, especially from Illumina, have been widely used in re-sequencing and de novo assembly studies. However, there is no existing software that can simulate Illumina reads with real error and quality distributions and coverage bias yet, which is very useful in relevant software development and study designing of sequencing projects. RESULTS: We provide a software package, pIRS (profile-based Illumina pair-end reads simulator), which simulates Illumina reads with empirical Base-Calling and GC%-depth profiles trained from real re-sequencing data. The error and quality distributions as well as coverage bias patterns of simulated reads using pIRS fit the properties of real sequencing data better than existing simulators. In addition, pIRS also comes with a tool to simulate the heterozygous diploid genomes. AVAILABILITY: pIRS is written in C++ and Perl, and is freely available at ftp://ftp.genomics.org.cn/pub/pIRS/. | 2012 | COPE: an accurate k-mer-based pair-end reads connection tool to facilitate genome assemblyabstractMOTIVATION: The boost of next-generation sequencing technologies provides us with an unprecedented opportunity for elucidating genetic mysteries, yet the short-read length hinders us from better assembling the genome from scratch. New protocols now exist that can generate overlapping pair-end reads. By joining the 3' ends of each read pair, one is able to construct longer reads for assembling. However, effectively joining two overlapped pair-end reads remains a challenging task. RESULT: In this article, we present an efficient tool called Connecting Overlapped Pair-End (COPE) reads, to connect overlapping pair-end reads using k-mer frequencies. We evaluated our tool on 30× simulated pair-end reads from Arabidopsis thaliana with 1% base error. COPE connected over 99% of reads with 98.8% accuracy, which is, respectively, 10 and 2% higher than the recently published tool FLASH. When COPE is applied to real reads for genome assembly, the resulting contigs are found to have fewer errors and give a 14-fold improvement in the N50 measurement when compared with the contigs produced using unconnected reads. AVAILABILITY AND IMPLEMENTATION: COPE is implemented in C++ and is freely available as open-source code at ftp://ftp.genomics.org.cn/pub/cope.
