2009 Integration of biological data : The familial hypercholesterolemia
abstract
The current informative environment is characterized by strongly distributed data. These abundant data are generally scattered, because there are often multiple systems conceived each to be effective for the functions for which it is specialized. These data are also heterogeneous. They can be several types: structured (relational, object oriented), semi-structured (HTML, XML, graph) Or even not structured (text, images, sound). In such a context, the need of integration is more and more needed. Our work is situated in this context and aims at the construction of a data integration platform for the biological domain. And this, for the study of proteins related to cardiovascular disease and particularly the weak density lipoprotein receiver (RLDL) involved in the familial hypercholesterolemia (FH). The goal of the platform is to help biologists to search in sources of public and\or private data, heterogeneous and distributed on the Web, aiming at automating the research procedures, masking to the biologists the Heterogeneousness and the distribution (casting) of the sources(springs) of data as well as supplying tools for the synthesis, correlations and diagnosis.

2008 Adaptive Learning Sequencing for Course Customization: A Web Service Approach
abstract
We discuss a learning model that enables the creation of optimal learning strategies that suit learners’ needs. A customized learning content is delivered to learners as managed sequences of learning activities which form a hierarchical structure that can be modeled by means of Petri Nets. Learning content customization is a dynamic process supported by a set of standards-based data models. The approach we adopted is implemented as Web services in a service-based learning architecture. Learning objects are sequenced according to learners’ responses to exercises and questions.

2004 VirGIS: Mediation for Geographical Information Systems
abstract
Geographic data have been collected for centuries and are available in a wide variety of formats and supports. VirGIS provides an integrated view of the data, and a geographical query language to access and manipulate integrated geographical data. Typical mediation approaches are data-driven and do not address the problem of integration of query capabilities. Geographic languages provided by GIS usually express spatial selections, metric or topological queries, allocations, etc., in addition to standard data manipulation. the VirGIS mediation system aims to integrate geographical query capabilities with GQuery, a XML geographical query language, and recent specifications published by the Open GIS Consortium (OGC) and adopted by major GIS vendors.
