2026 Boosting Medical Vision-Language Pretraining via Momentum Self-Distillation under Limited Computing Resources
abstract
In medical healthcare, obtaining detailed annotations is challenging, highlighting the need for robust Vision-Language Models (VLMs). Pretrained VLMs enable fine-tuning on small datasets or zero-shot inference, achieving performance comparable to task-specific models. Contrastive learning (CL) is a key paradigm for training VLMs but inherently requires large batch sizes for effective learning, making it computationally demanding and often limited to well-resourced institutions. Moreover, with limited data in healthcare, it is important to prioritize knowledge extraction from both data and models during training to improve performance. Therefore, we focus on leveraging the momentum method combined with distillation to simultaneously address computational efficiency and knowledge exploitation. Our contributions can be summarized as follows: (1) leveraging momentum self-distillation to enhance multimodal learning, and (2) integrating momentum mechanisms with gradient accumulation to enlarge the effective batch size without increasing resource consumption. Our method attains competitive performance with state-of-the-art (SOTA) approaches in zero-shot classification, while providing a substantial boost in the few-shot adaption, achieving over 90% AUC-ROC and improving retrieval tasks by 2–3%. Importantly, our method achieves high training efficiency with a single GPU while maintaining reasonable training time. Our approach aims to advance efficient multimodal learning by reducing resource requirements while improving performance over SOTA methods. 2025 Enhancing Named Entity Translation from Classical Chinese to Vietnamese in Traditional Vietnamese Medicine Domain: A Hybrid Masking and Dictionary-Augmented Approach
abstract
Vietnam’s traditional medical texts were historically written in Classical Chinese using Sino-Vietnamese pronunciations. As the Vietnamese language transitioned to a Latin-based national script and interest in integrating traditional medicine with modern healthcare grows, accurate translation of these texts has become increasingly important. However, the diversity of terminology and the complexity of translating medical entities into modern contexts pose significant challenges. To address this, we propose a method that fine-tunes large language models (LLMs) using augmented data and a Hybrid Entity Masking and Replacement (HEMR) strategy to improve named entity translation. We also introduce a parallel named entity translation dataset specifically curated for traditional Vietnamese medicine. Our evaluation across multiple LLMs shows that the proposed approach achieves a translation accuracy of 71.91%, demonstrating its effectiveness. These results underscore the importance of incorporating named entity awareness into translation systems, particularly in low-resource and domain-specific settings like traditional Vietnamese medicine.

2024 Segment-Based Test Case Prioritization: A Multi-objective Approach
abstract
Regression testing of software is a crucial but time-consuming task, especially in the context of user interface (UI) testing where multiple microservices must be validated simultaneously. Test case prioritization (TCP) is a cost-efficient solution to address this by scheduling test cases in an execution order that maximizes an objective function, generally aimed at increasing the fault detection rate. While several techniques have been proposed for TCP, most rely on source code information which is usually not available for UI testing. In this paper, we introduce a multi-objective optimization approach to prioritize UI test cases, using evolutionary search algorithms and four coverage criteria focusing on web page elements as objectives for the optimization problem. Our method, which does not require source code information, is evaluated using two evolutionary algorithms (AGE-MOEA and NSGA-II) and compared with other TCP methods on a self-collected dataset of 11 test suites. The results show that our approach significantly outperforms other methods in terms of Average Percentage of Faults Detected (APFD) and APFD with Cost (APFDc), achieving the highest scores of 87.8% and 79.2%, respectively. We also introduce a new dataset and demonstrate the significant improvement of our approach over existing ones via empirical experiments. The paper’s contributions include the application of web page segmentation in TCP, the construction of a new dataset for UI TCP, and empirical comparisons that demonstrate the improvement of our approach.
