2016 Find Kirigami!: an Augmented Papercutting Play Activity Realized with Tablet Terminals
abstract
To enhance an audience's immersive experience of a media artwork, it is important to provide the audience with more than one channel through which they can take the initiative to participate in the artwork. It is also crucial to provide a natural interaction between the artwork and its audience. Based on these ideas, we developed an interactive media artwork called "Find Kirigami!" inspired by kirigami, a traditional Japanese paper-cutting play activity. In this paper, we present the design of "Find Kirigami! and report some of the results of exhibiting the work.

2014 Low loss and low noise gate driver for SiC-MOSFET with gate boost circuit
abstract
This paper presents low-switching-loss and low-switching-noise gate driver for Silicon-Carbide (SiC) — Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect-Transistor (MOSFET) with gate boost circuit which is very simple and cost-effective. Compared to a conventional gate drive circuit, the proposed gate driver has capability of reducing the switching losses and switching time without increasing switching noise. SiC power devices have attracted huge interest as next generation power devices. Normally, switching losses and switching noise have some trade-off each other, SiC devices are expected to switch fast for low switching losses but fast switching might cause switching noise problem such as electromagnetic interferences (EMI). We have confirmed that the proposed gate driver makes it possible to drive SiC-MOSFET fast and energy efficiently without increasing switching noise and break the trade-off of switching characteristics.

2002 A 26.58 Tflops global atmospheric simulation with the spectral transform method on the Earth Simulator
abstract
A spectral atmospheric general circulation model called AFES (AGCM for Earth Simulator) was developed and optimized for the architecture of the Earth Simulator (ES). The ES is a massively parallel vector supercomputer that consists of 640 processor nodes interconnected by a single stage crossbar network with its total peak performance of 40.96 Tflops was achieved for a high resolution simulation (T1279L96) with AFES by utilizing the full 640-node configuration of the ES. The resulting computing efficiency is 64.9% of the peak performance, well surpassing that of conventional weather/climate applications having just 25-50% efficiency even on vector parallel computers. This remarkable performance proves the effectiveness of the ES as a viable means for practical applications.
