2025 Security-Reliability Tradeoff Analysis for SWIPT-Enabled Dual-Hop Vehicular Communication System Over Double Nakagami-m Channels
abstract
Simultaneous wireless information and power transmission (SWIPT)-enabled vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) systems use radio frequency (RF) signals for both information transmission and power. It reduces energy consumption, increases spectrum efficiency, and optimizes resource allocation to improve overall system performance. In this article, we investigate the physical-layer security (PLS) for a SWIPT enabled V2V cooperative communication system in which a source vehicle (S) transmits information to a destination vehicle (D) through an intermediate vehicle treated as relay node (R). During analysis, it is assumed that two independent vehicular nodes in the same road, i.e., eavesdroppers ($E_{1}$and$E_{2}$) are trying to intercept the information from different legitimate channels. The communication links are assumed to follow the double Nakagami-m (DNm) fading distribution. The study examines the security performance of the networks by calculating the secrecy outage probability (SOP), strictly positive secrecy capacity (SPSC), intercept probability (IP), and connection outage probability (COP). Next, we extend to the analysis of tradeoff between security and reliability as well as tradeoff between secrecy rate and secrecy outage which are termed as security and reliability tradeoff (SRT) and effective secrecy throughput (EST). For a comprehensive analysis, the results are produced for different values of the fading parameter$(m)$, power splitting factor$(\rho)$, and secrecy thresholds. The results clearly indicate that an increase in m leads to an enhancement in the secrecy performance. Additionally, the results show that secrecy performance improves as$\rho $decreases. Finally, the Monte-Carlo simulation results are presented to verify our proposed analytical models.

2023 Secured End-to-End FSO-VLC-Based IoT Network With Randomly Positioned VLC: Known and Unknown CSI
abstract
In this article, we determine the secrecy performance of a dual-hop hybrid free space optics (FSO)-visible light communication (VLC) system with a randomly located legitimate Internet of Things (IoT)-based receiver in the presence of two distinct eavesdroppers (EDs). We consider one FSO-based ED located near the relay, wiretapping the FSO link. However, another ED wiretaps the information from the multiple VLC sources embedded on the ceiling of the room. We consider the three different scenarios for VLC-based ED: 1) the effect of uniformly distributed ED in the absence of any secured zone in the VLC coverage area; 2) the impact of uniformly distributed ED in the presence of VLC secured area; and 3) the effect of random waypoint (RWP) distributed ED on the system’s security. The secrecy performance of the system is evaluated based on known and unknown instantaneous channel state information (CSI) of EDs. Furthermore, the closed form expression for secrecy outage probability (SOP) in terms of Meijer’s-G and Gauss hypergeometric functions is derived. In order to have a better insight into the system’s performance, analytical results are expressed asymptotically in the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime. Following that, Monte Carlo simulations are done to validate the theoretical results. Additionally, a secrecy threshold is obtained in order to comprehend the system’s security and reliability.

2020 On the Effect of Interference and Misalignment Error in Mixed RF/FSO Systems Over Generalized Fading Channels
abstract
In this paper, the end-to-end performance of a mixed radio frequency (RF)/free space optical (FSO) affected by co-channel interference (CCI), is studied. We consider that the RF link experiences η - μ fading and the FSO link is subjected to atmospheric turbulence, which is modeled by the α - μ distribution. Also, the statistics of the FSO link is presented for the case of zero and non-zero boresight pointing errors. Furthermore, we assume intensity modulation with direct detection (IM/DD) and coherent demodulation. In particular, we present a closed-form expression for the probability density function of the FSO link, which is then used to obtain a closedform and an asymptotic expression for the outage probability. In order to quantify the system performance, we utilize this asymptotic result to yield the system's coding gain and diversity order. Moreover, we have presented analytical expressions for the average bit error rate (BER) and ergodic capacity for the system design. In order to gain more insights, high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) approximations expressions for the BER and ergodic capacity, are also derived. Finally, the analytical results presented in the paper are validated through computer simulations.

2018 Free space optical communications with distributed switch-and-stay combining
abstract
The authors study the performance of an amplify‐and‐forward dual‐hop, switch‐and‐stay combining receiver, used in free space optical communications over non‐identical fading channels. One path is characterised by the generalised Málaga (or M distribution), whereas the other is influenced by the combined effects of Gamma–Gamma distributed atmospheric turbulence, pointing error and path loss. Novel closed‐form expressions for the end‐to‐end moment generating function, probability density function, and cumulative distribution function are derived in terms of Meijer's G function. Furthermore, the performance of the system is analysed, and closed‐form expressions are presented for the end‐to‐end outage probability and channel capacity.

2012 Repeated correlative coding scheme for mitigation of inter-carrier interference in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system
abstract
In this study, a repeated correlative coding scheme is proposed to combat the inter-carrier interference (ICI) caused by the frequency offset in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication systems. This proposed scheme combine two ideas of the well-known methods, which are the coding of adjacent subcarriers with antipodal of the same data symbol (ICI self-cancellation) and correlative coding. A mathematical expression for the carrier-to-interference ratio (CIR) by using this proposed repeated correlative coding scheme is derived. The simulated result of CIR for the proposed scheme is significantly improved compared to the correlative coding as well as a self-cancellation scheme. The bit-error-rate (BER) of the proposed scheme is also compared with the ICI self-cancellation scheme and correlative coding scheme, which is comparable to that of the ICI self-cancellation scheme and better than the correlative coding scheme.
