| 2024 | Approach for AMTI Formation Design in a Distributed Space-based Radar SystemabstractDue to existence of the long along-track baseline (ATB) among the different satellites in a distributed space-based radar (DSBR) system, a large number of grating lobes appear in radar returns, causing the non-continuous detection phenomenon of an air moving target (AMT). To solve this problem, in this paper, a novel approach for ATB distribution design in a DSBR system is proposed. In the proposed algorithm, to reduce the amount of spatial ambiguity points located at the main-lobe region and achieve the best air moving target indication (AMTI), the maximum target detectability ratio (TDR) in the main-lobe region is chosen to be the criteria for the optimal ATB design. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the simulated multi-channel radar data in a DSBR system. | 2024 | A Novel Clutter Spectrum Compensation Method in a Spaceborne BISTATIC Early Warning Radar SystemabstractFor a spaceborne bistatic early warning radar system with severe range dependence, the multi-channel division of the large-aperture antenna will bring about spatial under-sampling, which can lead to the spatial spectrum center estimation error and greatly influence the bistatic radar clutter suppression performance. To solve this problem, a novel bistatic clutter spectrum compensation method based on FFT range fitting is proposed in this paper. In the proposed method, the clutter Doppler and angle centers in different range gates are firstly estimated through Eigen decomposition. Then, the pseudo-single frequency complex sequence corresponding to the estimated spatial clutter center sequence is constructed, and the slope related to the angle centers is estimated after performing the FFT. Finally, the compensation matrix is constructed, so as to achieve the clutter non-stationary error compensation. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by the simulation experimental results. Gengze Qin, Penghui Huang, Changhong He, Yinying Xu, Xiangcheng Wan, Guozhong Chen |

| 2024 | A Linearly Continous False Alarm Removing Method in a Multichannel SAR-GMTI SystemabstractIn this paper, a method aimed at removing the linearly continuous false alarm caused by the artificial building with unignored elevation in a multichannel synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system with ground moving target indication (GMTI) mode is proposed. In the proposed method, the Hough transform is firstly utilized to obtain the potential false alarms during the iteration procedure. After that, the linearly continuous false alarms are finally obtained and removed based on the phase similarity characteristic of those building scatters. Real-measured SAR data processing results are presented to verity the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method. | 2024 | STAP Performance Analysis Using Different Receiving Antenna Weighting Manners in Space-Based Early Warning Radar SystemsabstractIn this paper, the influence of different receiving array element weighting manners on the space-time adaptive processing (STAP) technique is analyzed. Firstly, the element-based echo signal in a space-borne early warning radar (SBEWR) system is established, and then the STAP procedure by utilizing two alternative receiving array element weighting models are introduced. After that, the antenna patterns with respect to two weighting manners are discussed and the target output signal-to-clutter-plus-noise ratio (SCNR) after STAP are evaluated. The numerical results show that the subarray element weighting manner obtains a better STAP performance without channel mismatch compensation while a slightly inferior STAP performance with channel mismatch compensation compared with the whole antenna weighting manner.
