| 1996 | Suggestion for a New Representation for Binary FunctionabstractThe widely used method for Boolean function representation, called binary decision diagram (BDD), and its variation, the ordered binary decision diagram (OBDD), occasionally become time and space consuming for efficient manipulations with increase of number of its input variables. It would appear intuitively that a more efficient approach can be derived by viewing the function from the perspective of its output values. In this paper, such an approach based on the concept of input implicit/output explicit representation is developed. These output value array graphs (OVAGs) are derived for some sample circuits to illustrate their compact size. These are, however, preliminary results and additional research is needed to fully demonstrate the usefulness of OVAGs. Honghai Jiang, Jay C. Majithia |

| 1990 | An Algorithm for Locating Logic Design ErrorsabstractDiscusses the problem of locating logic design errors, and proposes an algorithm to solve it. Based on the results of logic verification, the authors introduce an input pattern for locating design errors. The pattern contains only one Boolean variable X/X and is used to sensitize the design errors. An algorithm for locating single design errors with the input patterns has been developed. Experimental results have shown the effectiveness of the input patterns and the algorithm for locating single design errors.> Masahiro Tomita, Honghai Jiang, Tamotsu Yamamoto, Yoshihiro Hayashi |

| 1990 | A multiprocessor system for multiple image recognition-application to automatic routing systemabstractA multiprocessor which carries out multiple image recognition in parallel is proposed. It has been applied to an automatic routing algorithm for electronic CAD. The algorithm handles thousands of image planes. Each plane corresponds to the routing area of each net. Design rule check and path search are performed using image processing techniques for those planes. The multiprocessor architecture was evaluated by a software simulator and was found to achieve higher throughput, especially in the case of using a large number of processors.> Gotaro Odawara, Masahiro Tomita, Honghai Jiang, Yutaka Tamiya, Taisei Yoshino, Yoshihiro Hayashi, Satoru Maruyama, Guixin Cheng, Hidetoshi Sakaki |
