1964 Fields in Strip-Lines for Film Memory Application
abstract
This paper is of a semitutorial nature in that the transverse fields in a transmission system of the type existing in magnetic thin-film memories are shown to be obtainable by solution of the two-dimensional Laplace equation. The solution is carried out for the symmetrical shielded strip-line having a zero-thickness center conductor. Application of the specific results, which have not appeared before, is discussed briefly and some normalized plots are included.

1964 On Techniques for Coping with the Information Explosion
abstract
those papers should be published which delete one or more existing papers whose combined length is 2501 characters or more.” An important byproduct of the above suggested practice would be the reduction of the burden on personnel selection committees. This will happen because the person’s list of publications will be replaced by a single negative number denoting the net number of papers he has deleted from

1959 System Organization of a Multiple-Cockpit Digital Operational Flight Trainer
abstract
This paper describes the system organization of a digital computer whose purpose is to activate simultaneously more than one cockpit of an operational flight trainer. The simulated aircraft are assumed to be all of the same type, but each is simulated independently. The computer is drum-sequenced and represents an application of the theory of multiple computers, since there are several different kinds of memories and more than one arithmetic unit in the system.

1958 Investigations of magnetic amplifiers with feedback
abstract
Sine wave carrier excited magnetic amplifiers have been investigated to determine if the figure of merit can be improved through the use of feedback techniques. It is shown that the power gain can be made unlimited but that a finite rise time is preserved. Hence the figure of merit as ordinarily defined becomes meaningless. It is shown, however, that voltage gain divided by rise time remains nearly constant under feedback and is a more suitably defined figure of merit.

1955 A Diode Multiplexer for Analog Voltages
abstract
A diode muliplexer switch is described for time-sharing 64 analog voltages in a digital computer application. Apart from its relative simplicity and economy, the multiplexer characteristics of microsecond switching speeds, maximum settling time of 133 microseconds for a 10-volt operating range, and accuracies of better than 1 per cent full scale are confirmed both by theoretical equations and by experimental results.
