2025 BEVTrack: A Simple and Strong Baseline for 3D Single Object Tracking in Bird's-Eye View
abstract
3D Single Object Tracking (SOT) is a fundamental task in computer vision and plays a critical role in applications like autonomous driving. However, existing algorithms often involve complex designs and multiple loss functions, making model training and deployment challenging. Furthermore, their reliance on fixed probability distribution assumptions (e.g., Laplacian or Gaussian) hinders their ability to adapt to diverse target characteristics such as varying sizes and motion patterns, ultimately affecting tracking precision and robustness. To address these issues, we propose BEVTrack, a simple yet effective motion-based tracking method. BEVTrack directly estimates object motion in Bird's-Eye View (BEV) using a single regression loss. To enhance accuracy for targets with diverse attributes, it learns adaptive likelihood functions tailored to individual targets, avoiding the limitations of fixed distribution assumptions in previous methods. This approach provides valuable priors for tracking and significantly boosts performance. Comprehensive experiments on KITTI, NuScenes, and Waymo Open Dataset demonstrate that BEVTrack achieves state-of-the-art results while operating at 200 FPS, enabling real-time applicability. The code will be released at https://github.com/xmm-prio/BEVTrack.

2023 Continuous Learning Method of Radar HRRP Based on CVAE-GAN
abstract
To improve the catastrophic forgetting that existed in the high-resolution range profile (HRRP) target recognition model of offline training, this paper proposed a continuous learning method of radar HRRP based on conditional variational auto-encoding and generative adversarial network (CVAE-GAN). Firstly, this method generates data through CVAE to simulate the real training data, and replays it in the series of subsequent tasks. By using generators, the proposed method does not need to save the original HRRP data and can ensure the privacy of the training dataset. Secondly, the proposed method takes the categorical data label as a generating condition, solves the unbalanced categories of the generated data samples, and improves the accuracy of the radar HRRP target recognition. Finally, by combining the attention mechanism and GAN network of the transformer, the generative capacity of the CVAE generator is enhanced effectively. In this paper, the continuous learning method is verified by a validation framework with three task settings. The experimental results show that the proposed method has a better continuous learning ability and better engineering practicality in various tasks compared with the previous regularization methods which can guarantee the privacy of the training dataset.

2022 Radar HRRP Target Recognition Model Based on a Stacked CNN-Bi-RNN With Attention Mechanism
abstract
The range resolution of high-resolution wideband radar is much smaller than the target size. Its echo signals tend to be diverse and sensitive to small changes of targets. Therefore, it is difficult to capture and distinguish the features in radar signals. In this article, we propose a radar target recognition pipeline based on a deep nested neural network. The framework consists of three parts: The translation sensitivity of the training data is first addressed in the preprocessing section. The second step is to obtain an embedded representation of the radar echo signals by the combination of the adjustment layer, convolutional neural network (CNN), and the squeeze and excitation (SE) block. Finally, the target is recognized through inputting embedded representation as a time sequence into the stacked bidirectional recurrent neural network (bi-RNN) based on an attention mechanism. Compared with the traditional methods, the proposed deep nested neural network extracts and takes advantage of the features of radar echo signals more effectively, including the envelope features and local physical structural features. The experimental results based on the test data indicate that the proposed method has a great advantage over other methods in the case of large data sets as well as small training data sets and is robust to the small translation of test samples and noises, exhibiting high engineering practical value.

2017 Radar HRRP Target Recognition Based on t-SNE Segmentation and Discriminant Deep Belief Network
abstract
In radar high-resolution range profile (HRRP)-based target recognition, one of the most challenging tasks is the noncooperative target recognition with imbalanced training data set. This letter presents a novel recognition framework to deal with this problem. The framework is composed of two steps: first, the t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding (t-SNE) and synthetic sampling are utilized for data preprocessing to provide a well segmented and balanced HRRP data set; second, a discriminant deep belief network (DDBN) is proposed to recognize HRRP data. Compared with the conventional recognition models, the proposed framework not only makes better use of data set inherent structure among HRRP samples for segmentation, but also utilizes high-level features for recognition. Moreover, the DDBN shares latent information of HRRP data globally, which can enhance the ability of modeling the aspect sectors with few HRRP data. The experiments illustrate the meaning of the t-SNE, and validate the effectiveness of the proposed recognition framework with imbalanced HRRP data.

2013 Noise-Robust Modification Method for Gaussian-Based Models With Application to Radar HRRP Recognition
abstract
In this letter, we introduce a novel noise-robust modification method for Gaussian-based models to enhance the performance of radar high-resolution range profile (HRRP) recognition under the test condition of low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and we develop an efficient scheme for its computation. This noise-robust modification method is implemented by revising the trained Gaussian-based model according to the estimated SNR of test HRRP. We apply the proposed method to adaptive Gaussian classifier and truncated stick-breaking hidden Markov model. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can significantly improve the average recognition rate for noisy HRRP test samples while offering recognition performance comparable to that of original model for clean HRRP test samples. Moreover, even when the SNR of test HRRP samples is not precisely estimated, we can still obtain an acceptable result with the proposed method.

2010 A Fast Heuristic Search Algorithm for Finding the Longest Common Subsequence of Multiple Strings
abstract
Finding the longest common subsequence (LCS) of multiple strings is an NP-hard problem, with many applications in the areas of bioinformatics and computational genomics. Although significant efforts have been made to address the problem and its special cases, the increasing complexity and size of biological data require more efficient methods applicable to an arbitrary number of strings. In this paper, a novel search algorithm, MLCS-A*, is presented for the general case of multiple LCS (or MLCS) problems. MLCS-A* is a variant of the A* algorithm. It maximizes a new heuristic estimate of the LCS in each search step so that the longest common subsequence can be found. As a natural extension of MLCS-A*, a fast algorithm, MLCS-APP, is also proposed to deal with large volume of biological data for which finding a LCS within reasonable time is impossible. The benchmark test shows that MLCS-APP is able to extract common subsequences close to the optimal ones and that MLCS-APP significantly outperforms existing heuristic approaches. When applied to 8 protein domain families, MLCS-APP produced more accurate results than existing multiple sequence alignment methods.

2006 Partition Filter Set for Power-Efficient Packet Classification
abstract
Ternary Content-Addressable Memory (TCAM) has been widely used for high-performance multi-dimensional packet classification. High power consumption limits the use of TCAM for large filter sets. TCAM power consumption is proportional to the number of TCAM entries enabled for search. Dividing TCAM into many blocks and enabling only a few blocks for search has been proposed to reduce the power consumption dramatically. However, it is quite challenging to design efficient algorithms to partition a set of multi-dimensional filters into many subsets (a subset is placed in one TCAM block). The efficiency of the algorithm is evaluated in three aspects: the maximum number of TCAM blocks that need to be enabled for a single search, the storage utilization of TCAM blocks, and the time and space complexity of the partition algorithm. In this paper, we developed a simple but efficient partition algorithm based on the Hilbert curve. The algorithm reduces TCAM power consumption by a factor of ten on average. The TCAM storage utilization is over 99%. The algorithm takes 0(n log n) time and 0(n) space.
