2025 Continuous Diffusive Prediction Network for Multi-Station Weather Prediction
abstract
Multi-station weather prediction provides weather forecasts for specific geographical locations, playing an important role in various aspects of daily life. Existing methods consider the relationships between individual stations discretely, making it difficult to model the continuous spatiotemporal processes of atmospheric motion, which results in suboptimal prediction outcomes. This paper proposes the Continuous Diffusive Prediction Network (CDPNet) to model the real-world continuous weather change process from discrete station observation data. CDPNet consists of two core modules: the Continuous Calibrated Initialization (CCI) and the Diffusive Difference Estimation (DDE). The CCI module interpolates data between observation stations to construct a spatially continuous physical field and ensures temporal continuity by integrating directional information from a global perspective. It accurately represents the current physical state and provides a foundation for future weather prediction. Moreover, the DDE module explicitly captures the spatial diffusion process and estimates the diffusive differences between consecutive time steps, effectively modeling spatio-temporally continuous atmospheric motion. Likewise, directional information on weather changes is introduced from the entire historical series to mitigate estimation uncertainty and improve the performance of weather prediction. Extensive experiments on the Weather2K and Global Wind/Temp datasets demonstrate that CDPNet outperforms state-of-the-art models.

2024 Scene-adaptive and Region-aware Multi-modal Prompt for Open Vocabulary Object Detection
abstract
Open Vocabulary Object Detection (OVD) aims to detect objects from novel classes described by text inputs based on the generalization ability of trained classes. Existing methods mainly focus on transferring knowledge from large Vision and Language models (VLM) to detectors through knowledge distillation. However, these approaches show weak ability in adapting to diverse classes and aligning be-tween the image-level pre-training and region-level detection, thereby impeding effective knowledge transfer. Moti-vated by the prompt tuning, we propose scene-adaptive and region-aware multi-modal prompts to address these issues by effectively adapting class-aware knowledge from VLM to the detector at the region level. Specifically, to enhance the adaptability to diverse classes, we design a scene-adaptive prompt generator from a scene perspective to consider both the commonality and diversity of the class distributions, and formulate a novel selection mechanism to facilitate the ac-quisition of common knowledge across all classes and spe-cific insights relevant to each scene. Meanwhile, to bridge the gap between the pre-trained model and the detector, we present a region-aware multi-modal alignment module, which employs the region prompt to incorporate the po-sitional information for feature distillation and integrates textual prompts to align visual and linguistic representations. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art models on the OV-COCO and OV-LVIS datasets, sur-passing the current method by 3.0% mAP and 4.6% APr.

2024 Prototype Correlation Matching and Class- Relation Reasoning for Few-Shot Medical Image Segmentation
abstract
Few-shot medical image segmentation has achieved great progress in improving accuracy and efficiency of medical analysis in the biomedical imaging field. However, most existing methods cannot explore inter-class relations among base and novel medical classes to reason unseen novel classes. Moreover, the same kind of medical class has large intra-class variations brought by diverse appearances, shapes and scales, thus causing ambiguous visual characterization to degrade generalization performance of these existing methods on unseen novel classes. To address the above challenges, in this paper, we propose a Prototype correlation Matching and Class-relation Reasoning (i.e., PMCR) model. The proposed model can effectively mitigate false pixel correlation matches caused by large intra-class variations while reasoning inter-class relations among different medical classes. Specifically, in order to address false pixel correlation match brought by large intra-class variations, we propose a prototype correlation matching module to mine representative prototypes that can characterize diverse visual information of different appearances well. We aim to explore prototypelevel rather than pixel-level correlation matching between support and query features via optimal transport algorithm to tackle false matches caused by intra-class variations. Meanwhile, in order to explore inter-class relations, we design a class-relation reasoning module to segment unseen novel medical objects via reasoning inter-class relations between base and novel classes. Such inter-class relations can be well propagated to semantic encoding of local query features to improve few-shot segmentation performance. Quantitative comparisons illustrates the large performance improvement of our model over other baseline methods.

2023 Crucial Semantic Classifier-based Adversarial Learning for Unsupervised Domain Adaptation
abstract
Unsupervised Domain Adaptation (UDA), which aims to explore the transferrable features from a well-labeled source domain to a related unlabeled target domain, has been widely progressed. Nevertheless, as one of the mainstream, existing adversarial-based methods neglect to filter the irrelevant semantic knowledge, hindering adaptation performance improvement. Besides, they require an additional domain discriminator that strives extractor to generate confused representations, but discrete designing may cause model collapse. To tackle the above issues, we propose Crucial Semantic Classifier-based Adversarial Learning (CSCAL), which pays more attention to crucial semantic knowledge transferring and leverages the classifier to implicitly play the role of domain discriminator without extra network designing. CSCAL effectively mitigates distribution shifts between the source and target domains from both intra- and inter-class perspectives. Specifically, in intra-class-wise alignment, a Paired-Level Discrepancy (PLD) is designed to transfer crucial semantic knowledge. Additionally, based on classifier predictions, a Nuclear Norm-based Discrepancy (NND) is formed that considers inter-class-wise information and improves the adaptation performance. Moreover, CSCAL can be effortlessly merged into different UDA methods as a regularizer and dramatically promote their performance.

2022 MedUCC: Medium-Driven Underwater Camera Calibration for Refractive 3-D Reconstruction
abstract
Underwater camera calibration has attracted much attentions due to its significance in high-precision three-dimensional (3-D) pose estimation and scene reconstruction. However, most existing calibration methods focus on calibrating the underwater camera in a single scenario [e.g., air-glass-water], which can not well formulate the geometry constraint and further result in the complex calibration process. Moreover, the calibration precision of these methods is low, since multilayer transparent refractions with unknown layer orientation and distance make the task more difficult than that in air. To address these challenges, we develop a novel and efficient medium-driven method for underwater camera calibration (MedUCC), which can calibrate the underwater camera parameters, including the orientation and position of the transparent glass accurately. Our key idea of this article is to leverage the light-path changes formed by medium refractions between different media to acquire calibration data, which can better formulate the geometry constraint, and estimate the initial value of the underwater camera parameters. To improve the calibration accuracy of the underwater camera system, a quaternion-based solution is developed to refine the underwater camera parameters. To the end, we evaluate the calibration performance on an underwater camera system. Extensive experiment results demonstrate that our proposed method can obtain a better performance in comparison to the existing works. We also validate our proposed MedUCC method on our designed 3-D scanner prototype, which illustrates the superiority of our proposed calibration method.

2021 MSO: Multi-Feature Space Joint Optimization Network for RGB-Infrared Person Re-Identification
abstract
The RGB-infrared cross-modality person re-identification (ReID) task aims to recognize the images of the same identity between the visible modality and the infrared modality. Existing methods mainly use a two-stream architecture to eliminate the discrepancy between the two modalities in the final common feature space, which ignore the single space of each modality in the shallow layers. To solve it, in this paper, we present a novel multi-feature space joint optimization (MSO) network, which can learn modality-sharable features in both the single-modality space and the common space. Firstly, based on the observation that edge information is modality-invariant, we propose an edge features enhancement module to enhance the modality-sharable features in each single-modality space. Specifically, we design a perceptual edge features (PEF) loss after the edge fusion strategy analysis. According to our knowledge, this is the first work that proposes explicit optimization in the single-modality feature space on cross-modality ReID task. Moreover, to increase the difference between cross-modality distance and class distance, we introduce a novel cross-modality contrastive-center (CMCC) loss into the modality-joint constraints in the common feature space. The PEF loss and CMCC loss jointly optimize the model in an end-to-end manner, which markedly improves the network's performance. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed model significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods on both the SYSU-MM01 and RegDB datasets.

2012 Active learning for tag recommendation utilizing on-line photos lacking tags
abstract
Recommending text tags for on-line photos is useful for Internet photo services. Typical solutions to this problem require analysis of the correlation among different attributes of the photos, including the correlation between the textual features and visual features computed from a photo. However, most on-line photos have very few tags or even no tags, and thus they contribute little or none to the analysis of tag-photo correlation, which is a key component in those schemes that rely on such analysis for tag recommendation. To address this practical challenge, we propose an active learning method for incorporating photos with no or few tags so as to enhance the correlation analysis for improved performance in tag recommendation. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach using a dataset of more than 33,000 photos collected from Flickr.
