2026 DissolveStereo: Coarse Depth Injection for Zero-Shot Stereo Video Generation
abstract
Generating high-quality stereo videos requires consistent depth perception and temporal coherence across frames. Despite advances in image and video synthesis using diffusion models, producing high-quality stereo videos remains a challenging task due to the difficulty of maintaining consistent temporal and spatial coherence between left and right views. We introduce DissolveStereo , a novel framework for zero-shot stereo video generation that leverages video diffusion priors without requiring paired training data. Our key innovations include a noisy restart strategy to initialize stereo-aware latent representations and an iterative refinement process that progressively harmonizes the latent space, addressing issues like temporal flickering and view inconsistencies. Importantly, we propose the use of dissolved depth maps to streamline latent space operations by reducing high-frequency depth information. Our comprehensive evaluations, including quantitative metrics and user studies, demonstrate that DissolveStereo produces high-quality stereo videos with enhanced depth consistency and temporal smoothness. In terms of epipolar consistency, our method achieves an 11.7% improvement in MEt3R score over the current state-of-the-art. Furthermore, user studies indicate strong perceptual gains over the previous arts, with an 8.0% higher perceived frame quality and 10.9% higher perceived temporal coherence. Our code is in https://github.com/shijianjian/DissolveStereo.

2025 Amodal Depth Anything: Amodal Depth Estimation in the Wild
abstract
Amodal depth estimation aims to predict the depth of occluded (invisible) parts of objects in a scene. This task addresses the question of whether models can effectively perceive the geometry of occluded regions based on visible cues. Prior methods primarily rely on synthetic datasets and focus on metric depth estimation, limiting their generalization to real-world settings due to domain shifts and scalability challenges. In this paper, we propose a novel formulation of amodal depth estimation in the wild, focusing on relative depth prediction to improve model generalization across diverse natural images. We introduce a new large-scale dataset, Amodal Depth In the Wild (ADIW), created using a scalable pipeline that leverages segmentation datasets and compositing techniques. Depth maps are generated using large pre-trained depth models, and a scale-and-shift alignment strategy is employed to refine and blend depth predictions, ensuring consistency in ground-truth annotations. To tackle the amodal depth task, we present two complementary frameworks: Amodal-DAV2, a deterministic model based on Depth Anything V2, and Amodal-DepthFM, a generative model that integrates conditional flow matching principles. Our proposed frameworks effectively leverage the capabilities of large pre-trained models with minimal modifications to achieve high-quality amodal depth predictions. Experiments validate our design choices, demonstrating the flexibility of our models in generating diverse, plausible depth structures for occluded regions. Our method achieves a 69.5% improvement in accuracy over the previous SoTA on the ADIW dataset.

2025 PseDet: Revisiting the Power of Pseudo Label in Incremental Object Detection
abstract
Incremental Objection Detection (IOD) facilitates the expansion of the usage scope of object detectors without forgetting previously acquired knowledge. Current approaches mostly adopt response-level knowledge distillation to overcome forgetting issues, by conducting implicit memory replay from the teacher model on new training data. However, this indirect learning paradigm does not fully leverage the knowledge generated by the teacher model. In this paper, we dive deeper into the mechanism of pseudo-labeling in incremental object detection by investigating three critical problems: (a) the upper bound quality of the pseudo labels is greatly limited by the previous model, (b) fixed score thresholds for label filtering, without considering the distribution across categories, and (c) the confidence score generated by the model does not well reflect the quality of the localization. Based on these observations, we propose a simple yet effective pseudo-labeling continual object detection framework, namely PseDet. Specifically, we introduce the spatio-temporal enhancement module to alleviate the negative effects when learning noisy data from the previous model. Considering the score distribution divergence across different classes, we propose the Categorical Adaptive Label Selector with a simple mathematical prior and fast K-Means pre-computation to dynamically determine the class-wise filtering threshold. In order to align the label score with the localization quality of the pseudo labels, we project the score through non-linear mapping to calibrate the distribution and integrate it into the new-step supervision. Extensive experiments on the competitive COCO benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness and generalization of PseDet. Notably, it achieves 43.5+/41.2+ mAP under the 1/4-step incremental settings, achieving new state-of-the-art performance.

2025 The Devil is in the Quality: Exploring Informative Samples for Semi-Supervised Monocular 3D Object Detection
abstract
This paper tackles the challenging problem of semi-supervised monocular 3D object detection with a general framework. In specific, having observed that the bottleneck of this task lies in lacking reliable and informative samples from unlabeled data for detector learning, we introduce a novel simple yet effective ‘Augment and Criticize’ pipeline that mines abundant informative samples for robust detection. To be more specific, in the ‘Augment’ stage, we present the Augmentation-based Prediction aGgregation (APG), which applies automatically learned transformations to unlabeled images and aggregates detections from various augmented views as pseudo labels. Since not all the pseudo labels from APG are beneficially informative, the subsequent ‘Criticize’ phase is introduced. Particularly, we present the Critical Retraining Strategy (CRS) that, unlike simply filtering pseudo labels using a fixed threshold, employs a learnable network to evaluate the contribution of unlabeled images at different training timestamps. This way, the noisy samples prohibitive to model evolution can be effectively suppressed. In order to validate ‘Augment-Criticize’, we apply it to MonoDLE [1] and MonoFlex [2], and the two new detectors, dubbed 3DSeMoDLEand 3DSeMoFLEX, achieve state-of-the-art results with consistent improvements, evidencing its effectiveness and generality.

2024 PatchFusion: An End-to-End Tile-Based Framework for High-Resolution Monocular Metric Depth Estimation
abstract
Single image depth estimation is a foundational task in computer vision and generative modeling. However, prevailing depth estimation models grapple with accom-modating the increasing resolutions commonplace in to-day's consumer cameras and devices. Existing high-resolution strategies show promise, but they often face limi-tations, ranging from error propagation to the loss of high-frequency details. We present PatchFusion, a novel tile-based framework with three key components to improve the current state of the art: (1) A patch-wise fusion network that fuses a globally-consistent coarse prediction with finer, in-consistent tiled predictions via high-level feature guidance, (2) A Global-to-Local (G2L) module that adds vital con-text to the fusion network, discarding the need for patch selection heuristics, and (3) A Consistency-Aware Training (CAT) and Inference (CAI) approach, emphasizing patch overlap consistency and thereby eradicating the neces-sity for post-processing. Experiments on Unreal. Stereo 4K, MVS-Synth, and Middleburry 2014 demonstrate that our framework can generate high-resolution depth maps with intricate details. PatchFusion is independent of the base model for depth estimation. Notably, our framework built on top of SOTA ZoeDepth brings improvements for a total of 17.3% and 29.4% in terms of the root mean squared error (RMSE) on UnrealStereo4K and MVS-Synth, respectively.

2024 Graph-DETR4D: Spatio-Temporal Graph Modeling for Multi-View 3D Object Detection
abstract
Multi-View 3D object detection (MV3D) has made tremendous progress by leveraging multiple perspective features through surrounding cameras. Despite demonstrating promising prospects in various applications, accurately detecting objects through camera view in the 3D space is extremely difficult due to the ill-posed issue in monocular depth estimation. Recently, Graph-DETR3D presents a novel graph-based 3D-2D query paradigm in aggregating multi-view images for 3D object detection and achieves competitive performance. Although it enriches the query representations with 2D image features through a learnable 3D graph, it still suffers from limited depth and velocity estimation abilities due to the adoption of a single-frame input setting. To solve this problem, we introduce a unified spatial-temporal graph modeling framework to fully leverage the multi-view imagery cues under the multi-frame inputs setting. Thanks to the flexibility and sparsity of the dynamic graph architecture, we lift the original 3D graph into the 4D space with an effective attention mechanism to automatically perceive imagery information at both spatial and temporal levels. Moreover, considering the main latency bottleneck lies in the image backbone, we propose a novel dense-sparse distillation framework for multi-view 3D object detection, to reduce the computational budget while sacrificing no detection accuracy, making it more suitable for real-world deployment. To this end, we propose Graph-DETR4D, a faster and stronger multi-view 3D object detection framework, built on top of Graph-DETR3D. Extensive experiments on nuScenes and Waymo benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of Graph-DETR4D. Notably, our best model achieves 62.0% NDS on nuScenes test leaderboard. 2024 BinsFormer: Revisiting Adaptive Bins for Monocular Depth Estimation
abstract
Monocular depth estimation (MDE) is a fundamental task in computer vision and has drawn increasing attention. Recently, some methods reformulate it as a classification-regression task to boost the model performance, where continuous depth is estimated via a linear combination of predicted probability distributions and discrete bins. In this paper, we present a novel framework called BinsFormer, tailored for the classification-regression-based depth estimation. It mainly focuses on two crucial components in the specific task: 1) proper generation of adaptive bins; and 2) sufficient interaction between probability distribution and bins predictions. To specify, we employ a Transformer decoder to generate bins, novelly viewing it as a direct set-to-set prediction problem. We further integrate a multi-scale decoder structure to achieve a comprehensive understanding of spatial geometry information and estimate depth maps in a coarse-to-fine manner. Moreover, an extra scene understanding query is proposed to improve the estimation accuracy, which turns out that models can implicitly learn useful information from the auxiliary environment classification task. Extensive experiments on the KITTI, NYU, and SUN RGB-D datasets demonstrate that BinsFormer surpasses state-of-the-art MDE methods with prominent margins. Code and pretrained models are made publicly available at https://github.com/zhyever/ Monocular-Depth-Estimation-Toolbox/tree/main/configs/ binsformer.

2023 Learning with Noisy Data for Semi-Supervised 3D Object Detection
abstract
Pseudo-Labeling (PL) is a critical approach in semisupervised 3D object detection (SSOD). In PL, delicately selected pseudo-labels, generated by the teacher model, are provided for the student model to supervise the semisupervised detection framework. However, such a paradigm may introduce misclassified labels or loose localized box predictions, resulting in a sub-optimal solution of detection performance. In this paper, we take PL from a noisy learning perspective: instead of directly applying vanilla pseudo-labels, we design a noise-resistant instance supervision module for better generalization. Specifically, we soften the classification targets by considering both the quality of pseudo labels and the network learning ability, and convert the regression task into a probabilistic modeling problem. Besides, considering that self-supervised learning works in the absence of labels, we incorporate dense pixel-wise feature consistency constraints to eliminate the negative impact of noisy labels. To this end, we propose NoiseDet, a simple yet effective framework for semi-supervised 3D object detection. Extensive experiments on competitive ONCE and Waymo benchmarks demonstrate that our method outperforms current semisupervised approaches by a large margin. Notably, our NoiseDet achieves state-of-the-art performance under various dataset scales on ONCE dataset. For example, NoiseDet improves its NoiseyStudent baseline from 55.5 mAP to 58.0 mAP, and further reaches 60.2 mAP with enhanced pseudo-label generation. Code will be available at https://github.com/zehuichen123/NoiseDet.

2022 SimIPU: Simple 2D Image and 3D Point Cloud Unsupervised Pre-training for Spatial-Aware Visual Representations
abstract
Pre-training has become a standard paradigm in many computer vision tasks. However, most of the methods are generally designed on the RGB image domain. Due to the discrepancy between the two-dimensional image plane and the three-dimensional space, such pre-trained models fail to perceive spatial information and serve as sub-optimal solutions for 3D-related tasks. To bridge this gap, we aim to learn a spatial-aware visual representation that can describe the three-dimensional space and is more suitable and effective for these tasks. To leverage point clouds, which are much more superior in providing spatial information compared to images, we propose a simple yet effective 2D Image and 3D Point cloud Unsupervised pre-training strategy, called SimIPU. Specifically, we develop a multi-modal contrastive learning framework that consists of an intra-modal spatial perception module to learn a spatial-aware representation from point clouds and an inter-modal feature interaction module to transfer the capability of perceiving spatial information from the point cloud encoder to the image encoder, respectively. Positive pairs for contrastive losses are established by the matching algorithm and the projection matrix. The whole framework is trained in an unsupervised end-to-end fashion. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to explore contrastive learning pre-training strategies for outdoor multi-modal datasets, containing paired camera images and LIDAR point clouds.

2022 AutoAlign: Pixel-Instance Feature Aggregation for Multi-Modal 3D Object Detection
abstract
Object detection through either RGB images or the LiDAR point clouds has been extensively explored in autonomous driving. However, it remains challenging to make these two data sources complementary and beneficial to each other. In this paper, we propose AutoAlign, an automatic feature fusion strategy for 3D object detection. Instead of establishing deterministic correspondence with camera projection matrix, we model the mapping relationship between the image and point clouds with a learnable alignment map. This map enables our model to automate the alignment of non-homogenous features in a dynamic and data-driven manner. Specifically, a cross-attention feature alignment module is devised to adaptively aggregate pixel-level image features for each voxel. To enhance the semantic consistency during feature alignment, we also design a self-supervised cross-modal feature interaction module, through which the model can learn feature aggregation with instance-level feature guidance. Extensive experimental results show that our approach can lead to 2.3 mAP and 7.0 mAP improvements on the KITTI and nuScenes datasets respectively. Notably, our best model reaches 70.9 NDS on the nuScenes testing leaderboard, achieving competitive performance among various state-of-the-arts.

2022 Graph-DETR3D: Rethinking Overlapping Regions for Multi-View 3D Object Detection
abstract
3D object detection from multiple image views is a fundamental and challenging task for visual scene understanding. However, accurately detecting objects through perspective views in the 3D space is extremely difficult due to the lack of depth information. Recently, DETR3D introduces a novel 3D-2D query paradigm in aggregating multi-view images for 3D object detection and achieves state-of-the-art performance. In this paper, with intensive pilot experiments, we quantify the objects located at different regions and find that the "truncated instances'' (i.e., at the border regions of each image) are the main bottleneck hindering the performance of DETR3D. Although it merges multiple features from two adjacent views in the overlapping regions, DETR3D still suffers from insufficient feature aggregation, thus missing the chance to fully boost the detection performance. In an effort to tackle the problem, we propose Graph-DETR3D to automatically aggregate multi-view imagery information through graph structure learning. It constructs a dynamic 3D graph between each object query and 2D feature maps to enhance the object representations, especially at the border regions. Besides, Graph-DETR3D benefits from a novel depth-invariant multi-scale training strategy, which maintains the visual depth consistency by simultaneously scaling the image size and the object depth. Extensive experiments on the nuScenes dataset demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our Graph-DETR3D. Notably, our best model achieves 49.5 NDS on the nuScenes test leaderboard, achieving new state-of-the-art in comparison with various published image-view 3D object detectors.
