An intellegent vehicle oriented EMC reverse diagnostic model based on SVMabstractThe rapid development of intelligent vehicles brings new challenges to vehicle EMC design, which is benefited from test data-oriented troubleshooting. With the increase in electronic complexity, vehicle on-board system designers should confront with more and more EMC failure possibilities and are in need of effective EMC failure diagnosis approach. However, EMC fault diagnosis is difficult due to the distinguishing features of EMC test dataset, such as small sample, nonlinear, high dimensions, etc. Hence, in this paper, EMC reverse diagnostic model is proposed. Firstly, EMC feature extraction method is designed. Then SVM model is designed to realize EMC faults classification. Corresponding application effect is displayed. Experiment results show that proposed method could match the demand of EMC fault diagnosis for intelligent vehicles. Jianmei Lei, Jie Mu, Lingqiu Zeng, Qingwen Han, Longbiao Hu, Lidong Chen

EMC Test for Connected Vehicles and Communication TerminalsabstractWith rapid development of intelligent connected vehicles and VANET (vehicular ad-hoc network), electromagnetic environment that vehicles are facing becomes more complex than ever. The popular multi-function on-board radio terminals include various wireless blocks, such as mobile phone, FM radio, Wi-Fi hotspot, GPS receiver and Bluetooth transceiver, etc. All these blocks are working in a circumstance full of radio energy. Both academic circles and professionals concern if the upcoming intelligent connected vehicle and the radio terminals on-board could withstand the increasingly complex electromagnetic environment, and keep a good performance under high power radiation. Unfortunately, until today, there is no commonly agreed specification for such kind of test. In this paper, the connected vehicles, together with the on-board radio terminal, are discussed to find out a solution for their EMC test, while immunity pre-test platform is designed and corresponding test schemes are presented. | 2018 | Semi-virtual Test for ICVs in Automotive EMC LaborataryabstractFunctional test is critical to the deployment of intelligent connected vehicle (ICV). Both industry and academia devote to create a testing framework, which could provide a reliable, quick, safe, low cost and reproducible method and accelerate the development of ICV. However, currently mainstream testing method, such as virtual test and on-road field test are sometimes difficult to satisfy the needs. In this paper, a semi-virtual test method, which employ semi anechoic chamber to construct operating environment of ICV, is proposed. Corresponding tests are done in semi-chamber of China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd (CAERI) to verify the effectiveness of proposed method. Test results show that proposed method is helpful for ICV function evaluation. Jianmei Lei, Qingwen Han, Fengxi Li, Lidong Chen

Large-field 3D imaging using an array of gradually-changed FOV camerasabstractLarge-field image stitching and 3D reconstruction are two hot topics in computer vision. Generally, only a small amount of overlapped area is required in large-field image stitching. On the other hand, cameras usually share almost the same field of view for multi-view 3D reconstruction, which guarantees enough overlapped areas to calculate 3D information of the target scene. To realize the two purposes using a single imaging device simultaneously, we propose a novel structure design of camera array, which combines multiple cameras with gradually-changed field of view. Based on the proposed camera array, we can firstly calculate the depth of points in 3D space, then a panoramic image with large field of view can be generated in consideration of the depth information. A prototype imaging system based on the novel camera-array structure is realized, and then real-scene imaging experiments are implemented to prove the feasibility and effectiveness of our method. | 2016 | Dynamic Request Redirection and Resource Provisioning for Cloud-Based Video Services under Heterogeneous EnvironmentabstractCloud computing provides a new opportunity for Video Service Providers (VSP) to running compute-intensive video applications in a cost effective manner. Under this paradigm, a VSP may rent virtual machines (VMs) from multiple geo-distributed datacenters that are close to video requestors to run their services. As user demands are difficult to predict and the prices of the VMs vary in different time and region, optimizing the number of VMs of each type rented from datacenters located in different regions in a given time frame becomes essential to achieve cost effectiveness for VSPs. Meanwhile, it is equally important to guarantee users' Quality of Experience (QoE) with rented VMs. In this paper, we give a systematic method called Dynamical Request Redirection and Resource Provisioning (DYRECEIVE) to address this problem. We formulate the problem as a stochastic optimization problem and design a Lyapunov optimization framework based online algorithm to solve it. Our method is able to minimize the long-term time average cost of renting cloud resources while maintaining the user QoE. Theoretical analysis shows that our online algorithm can produce a solution within an upper bound to the optimal solution achieved through offline computing. Extensive experiments shows that our method is adaptive to request pattern changes along time and outperforms existing algorithms. | 2014 | An approach for fast and parallel video processing on Apache Hadoop clustersabstractThis paper proposes an approach for fast and parallel video processing on MapReduce-based clusters such as Apache Hadoop. By utilizing clusters, the approach is able to handle large-scale of video data and the processing time can be significantly reduced. Technique details of performing video analysis on clusters are revealed, including method of porting typical video processing algorithms designed for a single computer to the proposed system. As case studies, face detection and motion detection and tracking algorithms have been implemented on clusters. Performance experiments on an Apache Hadoop cluster of six computers show that the system is able to reduce the running time of the two implemented algorithms to below 25% of that of a single computer. The applications of the system include smart city video surveillance, services provided by video sites and satellite image processing. Hanlin Tan, Lidong Chen

Cross-selection kernel regression for super-resolution fusion of complementary panoramic imagesabstractComplementary catadioptric imaging technique was proposed to solve the problem of low and non-uniform resolution in omnidirectional imaging. To enhance this research, our paper focuses on how to generate a high-resolution panoramic image from the captured omnidirectional image. To avoid the interference between the inner and outer images while fusing the two complementary views, a cross-selection kernel regression method is proposed. First, in view of the complementarity of sampling resolution in the tangential and radial directions between the inner and the outer images respectively, the horizontal gradients in the expected panoramic image are estimated based on the scattered neighboring pixels mapped from the outer, while the vertical gradients are estimated using the inner image. Then, the size and shape of the regression kernel are adaptively steered based on the local gradients. Furthermore, the neighboring pixels in the next interpolation step of kernel regression are also selected based on the comparison between the horizontal and vertical gradients. In simulation and real-image experiments, the proposed method outperforms existing kernel regression methods and our previous wavelet-based fusion method in terms of both visual quality and objective evaluation. | 2010 | Validating the performance of a 32nm CMOS high speed serial link receiver with adaptive equalization and baud-rate clock data recoveryabstractOn-Die features available for validation and test on an integrated circuit play a major role in evaluating the performance of the functionality being realized by the circuit in a post-silicon environment and can considerably reduce time to market of the end-product. In the case of high-speed IO, it is also important to note that the type of on-die hooks required to debug and validate the performance and robustness of the design depend on several factors, of which the type of I/O architecture chosen plays a key role. In order to support high data rates, the serial I/O design in this paper implements a receiver with adaptive equalization engine for the compensation of inter-symbol interference (ISI) and real-time environmental changes (temperature and voltage). This paper describes the debug hooks and their usage models in such a high-speed I/O designed using a 32nm CMOS process. These hooks have been tested in the lab and proven to be very useful. While the main focus of the paper is to describe the hooks, how they are used in the lab for observing the robustness in the dynamic behavior of the adaptive loops and the measurement results; the reader is also provided with a brief insight into the equations describing the loops behavior together with a description of the loops implementation details. | 2010 | An inconvenient truth about tunneled authenticationsabstractIn recent years, it has been a common practice to execute client authentications for network access inside a protective tunnel. Man-in-the-middle (MitM) attacks on such tunneled authentications have been discovered early on and cryptographic bindings are widely adopted to mitigate these attacks. In this paper, we shake the false sense of security given by these so-called protective tunnels by demonstrating that most tunneled authentications are still susceptible to MitM attacks despite the use of cryptographic bindings and other proposed countermeasures. Our results affect widely deployed protocols, such as EAP-FAST and PEAP. Katrin Hoeper, Lidong Chen

| 2007 | Where EAP security claims failabstractThe Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) is widely used as an authentication framework to control the access to wireless networks, e.g. in IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.16 networks. In this paper, we discuss limitations of EAP security and demonstrate how these limitations can be exploited to launch attacks on existing EAP methods. In particular, we present a series of attacks which cause some standard security claims, namely channel binding, protected ciphersuite negotiation and cryptobinding, to fail and compromise the key exchange, authentication and privacy of EAP communications. Next, we identify the special security challenges of EAP systems that may cause the considered security claims to fail. EAP differs from other authentication frameworks as a two party protocol, like IKE and TLS, because it is conducted with three parties involved across two communication links with different media. Another security challenge of EAP is the negotiability of EAP methods, ciphersuites, and protocol versions. These challenges make it difficult to derive a trust model for EAP and to securely adopt existing protocols. Finally, we conclude with recommendations for more secure EAP implementations.
