2024 Information and communication technology in smart agriculture: A scientometric review
abstract
Summary Agriculture has been affected by several global trends raising the concern for food security. Agri‐food demands are amplifying due to the ever‐escalating population numbers. Thus, the notion of extending the use of smart innovative technology in managing agricultural practices has emerged rapidly over the last decade. Technological innovations have contributed significantly to shape modern agriculture as smart agriculture. Smart agriculture unfolds various benefits such as increased production, real time data and production insights and remote monitoring. The rising advancements in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have paved the way for researchers to use these technologies in managing agricultural practices, leading to greater benefits for farmers and society. These innovations are the key to establishing agriculture as a research discipline. The purpose of this article is to conduct a scientometric analysis to study the structure and evolution of research activities in the field of smart agriculture. The scientometric analysis aims to empirically map the scientific knowledge and identify any possible challenges in the field. This study performs elementary analysis to study publication growth over the years, impact analysis to assess the leading journals, authors, and countries, and articles analysis for findings patterns among the citations over the years and among the keyword‐based clusters. There has been a considerable increase of more than 200% in the number of publications from 2011 to 2022. However, around 60% of authors have contributed with a single publication. The findings of the study reveal the research trends and hot topics for future research fronts. Deep learning, digital agriculture, object detection, blockchain, and semantic segmentation have been identified as trending topics in smart agriculture. Comprehensively, an intellectual view of the agriculture domain is presented as a scientific field in this article.

2024 Blockchain Oriented Effective Charity Process During Pandemics and Emergencies
abstract
During any emergency, a donation is considered a moral responsibility all over the globe. The lack of transparency and oversight in charity donations hurts people’s enthusiasm to donate. Donors are distrustful about how their funds are utilized. The use of blockchain technology (BCT) will provide a solution to make the donation procedure more viable. It is a distributed technology that offers a secure and transparent environment by avoiding the involvement of third parties between contributors and charities. This article proposed a blockchain-based donation mechanism for the convenience of charity organizations, donors, and beneficiaries during disasters, pandemics such as Covid-19, and other emergencies. All transactions can be traced in blockchain, giving donors visibility into where and how their funds are utilized. This article contributes to improving donations’ openness to strengthen public interest in donations and encourage BCT in charity. Ethereum blockchain is used to implement the proposed framework and provides a convenient donation platform. Smart contracts are used to make donations, which build trust between contributors, beneficiaries, and charity organizations. The blockchain-based donation method saves time, lowers donation costs, and eliminates the chances of dubious campaign funds. This study will contribute to improving emergency recovery efforts.

2022 Transparent subsidized agri-product distribution during pandemics with reputation based PoA blockchain
abstract
Summary Technological advancements play a crucial role in agriculture sector aiming at eradicating numerous problems. These problems are intensified due to pandemics like delay overhead in the subsidized agri‐products supply chains. The existing technology‐based solutions are not readily adopted by stakeholders due to absence of trust. Blockchain can impart more transparency and trust in agri‐supply chains leading to fair pricing. The idea of using blockchain for financing processes in agriculture has resulted from the managerial pressure and fiscal scams which eventually aggravate the plight of farmers. Thus, a blockchain‐based subsidized agri‐products distribution (SAPD) is proposed. Blockchain has been optimized by a reputation‐based Proof‐of‐Authority (PoA) consensus algorithm. It has been implemented using Ethereum blockchain on AWS EC2 cloud. The smart contract is designed in solidity. Detailed performance evaluation has been conducted to compute cost and processing time that shows a substantial reduction in cost of managerial operations with respect to previous work by 41.65%. Finally, to assess the utility of SAPD system a qualitative user survey has been conducted. Managerial significance of system is reflected in memory space reduction by 85% in light clients and increase in transaction execution per second by 31% using reputation‐based PoA.
