2022 A Fourier-Based Phasor Estimator With a Modified Moving Average Filter and Its Application in Distribution Networks
abstract
Phasor estimation is fundamental for most real-time analysis, monitoring, and control tasks in power systems. New applications on microgrids and active distribution networks make such estimation increasingly important, leading to many research efforts focusing on known approaches, such as the Fourier and cosine filters, to abate the estimation errors; others rely on newly applied algorithms like the Taylor–Kalman–Fourier filter (TKF). This variety has led to discussions about the application cases of each technique, normally demoting the Fourier filter (FF). In this spirit, the FF was reworked under the Hilbert space power theory, showing its conceptual correctness and then deriving an accurate and fast alternative relying on a discrete, lead-compensated filter. Such FF is tested over an active distribution network system, showing advantages in relevant scenarios, namely impedance estimation, grid-monitoring, and fault location. The proposal exhibits better dynamic performance and overshoot than the conventional techniques, with no increased complexity, and “cleaner” results than the TKF, which is, however, faster to estimate the system's impedances.

2018 An Adjustable Sensorless Shoot-Through Protection for H-Bridges
abstract
The converters relying on H-bridge configurations exhibit complementary “symmetrical” switching devices for which a triggering dead-time must be considered in order to prevent shoot-through faults. There are two ways in which such dead-time is usually added to the bridges' input signals; namely, from the switching program itself, and by using dedicated embedded modules inside micro-controllers. There are also protections that sense the semiconductors' current to identify and avoid its increase above some threshold. However, those techniques rely on programming skills, operating robustness-against noise, supply variations, IC's malfunctioning, etc.-or in surging currents which are anyhow undesired. In this work, an adjustable and sensorless shoot-through protection is presented as a physical circuit to mend the triggering signals if needed, so the desired dead-times are enforced. The circuit has been prototyped and tested against faulty and non-faulty signals to evaluate its proper operation.

2018 Supervisory Controller for Smoothing Wind Turbine Power Output based on FESS using ANNs for Short-Term Ahead Prediction
abstract
One of the most challenging aspects concerning the increasing penetration of Eolic generation is the highly uncertain nature of wind, which may be the origin of several problems related with output power quality, system stability and poor reliability of wind energy generation. Include an Energy Storage System (ESS) is a common solution to mitigate the negative effects of power fluctuation in renewable generators. The use of Flywheels Energy Storage Systems (FESSs) is an attractive solution in wind applications. This paper presents a fuzzy logic supervisory controller for management stored energy in a FESS. The controller inputs are the extracted wind power, the rotational speed of the FESS and a predicted slope angle of the wind profile obtained using Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). The results verify the effectiveness of the proposed supervisory controller by comparing the mean and standard deviation of the simulation output power against the most popular fuzzy logic controller.

2008 Application Development over Software-as-a-Service Platforms
abstract
New web development and deployment platforms are arising; some examples of these are Apex of Salesforce.com, Google Application Engine SDK, Facebook API, and so on. These software delivery platforms (SDP) are meant to serve as the basis for the delivery of an important percentage of the software offer. In the other hand, application development over these new platforms is not a defined process. Building applications over an SDP change the way software is designed, developed and delivered. Common methods of software development should be analyzed and redefined in order to fulfill the requirements of these new ways of constructing and delivering software. This paper presents the analysis of the impact of these requirements and proposes guidelines to be applied for application development in software-as-a-service (SaaS) environments.

2006 Towards The Definition Of Business Models And Governance Rules For Virtual Breeding Environments
abstract
Virtual Organisation Breeding Environments (VBEs) represent an emerging valued added strategy for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to respond in a competitive way to changing market conditions, through the integration of their capabilities in the configuration of Virtual Organizations. The creation of sustainable VBEs is a challenge that requires new business models based on collaborative and trustable environments. Since the VBE include several types of organisations its business model must consider a multi-value system defin#ion and a multi-stakeholder perspective; that will also call for a new governing approach. This paper presents first attempts in the definition of guidelines for develop Business Models and Governance Rules in VBEs.

2005 An Integrative Approach for Vo Planning and Launching
abstract
Virtual organizations (VO) have been rapidly growing within collaborative business environment. However, there is need to develop work related to VO planning and launching. This paper proposes a reference model to plan and launch VOs. The reference has a three dimensional structure. The first dimension is related with VO life cycle. Second dimension shows VO modelling views supported by UML. Third dimension presents VO knowledge management structure, VO knowledge assets are structured in procedural, organizational and operational domains, which enable knowledge creation and sharing within virtual organizations. A case study is presented in order to demonstrate reference model us in VO planning and launching.

2005 Methodology for Business Model Definition of Collaborative Networked Organizations
abstract
It is important for stakeholders to understand business potential and feasibility before investing in designing and implementing Information Technology services that support the enterprise operation. Ontologies for Business Models capture the essential elements and their relationships that contribute to provide value to all parties to validate the underlying rationale of the business opportunity. This paper presents a template and methodology to capture the elements and their relationships in a Business Model for Collaborative Networked Organizations. The template is a skeleton based on an ontological approach, and the methodology describes how the skeleton could be used to explain and illustrate the business models. Results and experiences of a real study case using this methodology are described. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
