2026 Continuous Shape-to-Texture Face Aging With Flow-Based Prior Latent Age Modulation and Attentional Alignment StyleGAN
abstract
Albeit recent Generative Models have achieved notable progress in synthesizing realistic facial aging images, many of them, e.g., GAN-based methods, cannot accurately capture the continuous progression of age-related shape-to-texture changes over time. In this paper, we propose an innovative facial age transformation framework that enables the generation of continuous shape-to-texture aging facial images. Firstly, the Prior Latent Age Modulation (PLAM) is designed to leverage the advantages of continuous sampling in high-dimensional space by normalizing flows to achieve precise and reversible mapping between the age attribute variable distributions and the prior latent space, ensuring smooth transitions along with facial aging. Secondly, we introduce the Attentional Feature Fusion (AFF), which dynamically allocates weights to effectively fuse the age attribute features by the latent space manipulation with the content features in StyleGAN, thereby generating facial images that accurately depict facial characteristics from shape to texture corresponding to specific ages. Finally, through quantitative and qualitative analysis of existing datasets, we validate the effectiveness and superiority of our proposed method in facial aging tasks.

2025 Spatial-Temporal Transformer with Curriculum Learning for EEG-Based Emotion Recognition
abstract
EEG-based emotion recognition plays an important role in developing adaptive brain-computer communication systems, yet faces two fundamental challenges in practical implementations: (1) effective integration of non-stationary spatial-temporal neural patterns, (2) robust adaptation to dynamic emotional intensity variations in real-world scenarios. This paper proposes STT-CL, a novel framework integrating spatial-temporal transformers with curriculum learning. Our method introduces two core components: a spatial encoder that models inter-channel relationships and a temporal encoder that captures multi-scale dependencies through windowed attention mechanisms, enabling simultaneous extraction of spatial correlations and temporal dynamics from EEG signals. Complementing this architecture, an intensity-aware curriculum learning strategy progressively guides training from high-intensity to low-intensity emotional states through dynamic sample scheduling based on a dual difficulty assessment. Comprehensive experiments on three benchmark datasets demonstrate state-of-the-art performance across various emotional intensity levels, with ablation studies confirming the necessity of both architectural components and the curriculum learning mechanism.

2024 GraphRARE: Reinforcement Learning Enhanced Graph Neural Network with Relative Entropy
abstract
Graph neural networks (GNNs) have shown ad-vantages in graph-based analysis tasks. However, most existing methods have the homogeneity assumption and show poor performance on heterophilic graphs, where the linked nodes have dissimilar features and different class labels, and the semantically related nodes might be multi-hop away. To address this limitation, this paper presents GraphRARE, a general framework built upon node relative entropy and deep reinforcement learning, to strengthen the expressive capability of GNNs. An innovative node relative entropy, which considers node features and structural similarity, is used to measure mutual information between node pairs. In addition, to avoid the sub-optimal solutions caused by mixing useful information and noises of remote nodes, a deep reinforcement learning-based algorithm is developed to optimize the graph topology. This algorithm selects informative nodes and discards noisy nodes based on the defined node relative en-tropy. Extensive experiments are conducted on seven real-world datasets. The experimental results demonstrate the superiority of GraphRARE in node classification and its capability to optimize the original graph topology.

2024 A two-stage image enhancement and dynamic feature aggregation framework for gastroscopy image segmentation
abstract
Accurate and reliable automatic segmentation of lesion areas in gastroscopy images can assist endoscopists in making diagnoses and reduce the possibility of missed or incorrect diagnoses. This paper presents a two-stage framework for segmenting gastroscopy images, which aims to improve the accuracy of medical image segmentation tasks using limited datasets. The proposed framework consists of two stages: the Image Enhancement Stage and the Lesion Segmentation Stage. First, in the Image Enhancement Stage, an image enhancement solution called TDC-Enhance is proposed to enrich the original small-scale gastroscopy image dataset. This solution performs Texture Enhancement, Detail Enhancement, and Color Enhancement on the original images. Then, in the Lesion Segmentation Stage, a multi-path automatic segmentation network for gastroscopy images, named DynaSiam, is introduced. DynaSiam comprises a Dependent Encoder, a Shared Encoder, and a Fusion Decoder. It learns feature information related to the lesion region by encoding the different enhanced images obtained in the Image Enhancement Stage as inputs to the multi-path network. Additionally, a Dynamic Feature Interaction (DFI) block is designed to capture and learn deeper image information, thereby improving the segmentation performance of the model. The experimental results show that the proposed method achieves a 90.80% mIoU, 92.71% Dice coefficient and 96.31% Accuracy. Other performance metrics also indicate the best performance, suggesting that the proposed model has significant potential for clinical analysis and diagnosis. Code and implementation details can be found on GitHub: https://github.com/kyasulee/DynaSiam.

2023 CLGT: A Graph Transformer for Student Performance Prediction in Collaborative Learning
abstract
Modeling and predicting the performance of students in collaborative learning paradigms is an important task. Most of the research presented in literature regarding collaborative learning focuses on the discussion forums and social learning networks. There are only a few works that investigate how students interact with each other in team projects and how such interactions affect their academic performance. In order to bridge this gap, we choose a software engineering course as the study subject. The students who participate in a software engineering course are required to team up and complete a software project together. In this work, we construct an interaction graph based on the activities of students grouped in various teams. Based on this student interaction graph, we present an extended graph transformer framework for collaborative learning (CLGT) for evaluating and predicting the performance of students. Moreover, the proposed CLGT contains an interpretation module that explains the prediction results and visualizes the student interaction patterns. The experimental results confirm that the proposed CLGT outperforms the baseline models in terms of performing predictions based on the real-world datasets. Moreover, the proposed CLGT differentiates the students with poor performance in the collaborative learning paradigm and gives teachers early warnings, so that appropriate assistance can be provided.

2023 Intelligent Tutoring for Large-Scale Personalized Programming Learning Based on Knowledge Graph
abstract
The development of learning analytics technology has created the necessary conditions for the implementation of large-scale personalized education. By taking advantage of the current advancements available, we can adopt a deep integration of “artificial intelligence + education”, take educational big data as the research object, aim at achieving precise teaching, and use cognitive diagnosis as a means to construct an intelligent guidance model. The model will conform to a learner's cognitive patterns and curriculum characteristics to meet his personalized learning needs under different knowledge states. Firstly, use knowledge map and abstract syntax trees to extract the characteristics of teaching objectives from questions and standard programing codes. Secondly, Use “target characteristics - learning characteristics - learning sequence - learning effect” cognitive diagnosis model to assess student achievement in learning. Finally, according to the correlation between knowledge points, the initial learning path consisting of all relevant knowledge points is identified from a knowledge map. And the most optimal learning path is selected based on the importance of knowledge points and student's learning situation. There are three innovation points in this paper. First, the traditional method which only focuses on discovering the one-dimensional knowledge features implicated in the questions, is extended to construct a knowledge-ability multidimensional feature matrix. Secondly, it optimized static cognitive diagnosis into dynamic cognitive arbitrariness, which has a modeling capability of dynamic temporal sequence. Thirdly, it regarded the correlation between knowledge points, and the importance of knowledge points as the heuristic conditions for constructing a learning path.

2023 IVAS: An Intelligent Video Analysis System based on Edge Computing
abstract
With the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), the amount of global data is increasing rapidly. However, due to the increased burden of the cloud network, it is difficult to implement low-latency and high-efficiency video analysis in the cloud computing mode. To address this issue, this paper proposes an Intelligent Video Analysis System (IVAS) that can execute deep learning algorithms on low-power edge IoT devices, such as face detection and face recognition algorithms. IVAS enables fast, accurate, and real-time inference calculations of intelligent video analysis algorithms, providing an evaluation platform for performance testing, key parameter selection, and result analysis. The experiments based on real-world data confirm that IVAS can achieve good performance in people counting under an edge computing environment.
