2026 SRP-YOLO: A Receptive Field Enhanced and Partial Convolution Fusion Network for Small Object Detection
abstract
Accurate object detection in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) images plays a crucial role in fields such as aviation, transportation, and agriculture. However, UAV images often contain a high proportion of small objects, and the limited resources of UAV platforms make it challenging for existing small object detection algorithms to balance detection performance and resource consumption. To address these issues, a lightweight small object detection algorithm called SRP-YOLO is proposed. Compared to the YOLOv8 network, the following improvements are made: first, a high-resolution detection head is designed; second, a receptive field attention convolution module tailored for small UAV objects is introduced to replace the standard convolution module, enhancing the detection capability for small objects and significantly improving their feature representation; Third, partial convolution is combined with C2f to replace some of the standard convolutions, fully leveraging the high-resolution information from shallow features. Finally, a normalized Gaussian Wasserstein distance (NWD) metric is introduced to reduce the sensitivity of intersection over union (IoU) to minor positional deviations of small objects. On VisDrone-DET2019, SRP-YOLO reduces parameters while improving [Formula: see text] by 7.9%. Generalization tests on TinypersonV2 and RAIVD confirm significant gains in small object detection.

2025 A Modal Logic for Joint Abilities of Structured Strategies with Bounded Complexity
abstract
Coordination and joint ability are important topics in representation and reasoning about multi-agent systems. The modal logic JAADL proposed by Liu et al. extends ATL with joint abilities, which enables reasoning about whether a coalition of agents can coordinate and achieve a goal without communication. However, like ATL, strategic abilities in JAADL are defined in terms of combinatorial strategies, which are functions from histories or states to actions. On the other hand, there has been research on reasoning about natural strategic abilities, where a natural strategy is formalized as a sequence of condition-action pairs, making it more human-friendly than combinatorial strategy. In this work, we propose SJAADL, a variation of JAADL where strategic abilities are defined in terms of structured strategies represented with LDL (linear dynamic logic) formulas, with bounded complexity. We use nondeterministic strategies since they are more expressive, natural and succinct than determinstic ones. We present syntax and semantics of SJAADL. We show that model checking SJAADL can be done in time quasi-polynomial with the model size, exponential with the formula size, and with the complexity bound of structured strategies, exponential in the memoryless case and double exponential in the memoryful case. Finally, we introduce the problem of synthesizing norms to achieve joint abilities, and give two algorithms for it.

2025 Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface-Aided Spatial Modulation with Signature Constellation
abstract
In recent years, a number of new technologies have emerged in the sixth generation (6G) wireless communication area. Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) technologies have been widely studied because of their strong flexibility for signal adjustment. Combined with transmit spatial modulation (TSM), the RIS-aided TSM (RIS-TSM) system can significantly boost spectral efficiency (SE) while enhancing the received signal quality. In this paper, in order to overcome the effect of correlation among transmit antennas in RIS-TSM systems, we propose an RIS-aided transmit signature constellation based spatial modulation (RIS-TSSM) scheme with a complete system model and expressions. Simulation results depict that RIS-TSSM system can achieve better performance than the RIS-TSM system in the presence of antenna correlation.

2020 A Modal Logic for Joint Abilities under Strategy Commitments
abstract
Representation and reasoning about strategic abilities has been an active research area in AI and multi-agent systems. Many variations and extensions of alternating-time temporal logic ATL have been proposed. However, most of the logical frameworks ignore the issue of coordination within a coalition, and are unable to specify the internal structure of strategies. In this paper, we propose JAADL, a modal logic for joint abilities under strategy commitments, which is an extension of ATL. Firstly, we introduce an operator of elimination of (strictly) dominated strategies, with which we can represent joint abilities of coalitions. Secondly, our logic is based on linear dynamic logic (LDL), an extension of linear temporal logic (LTL), so that we can use regular expressions to represent commitments to structured strategies. We analyze valid formulas in JAADL, give sufficient/necessary conditions for joint abilities, and show that model checking memoryless JAADL is in EXPTIME.

2020 Automatic Synthesis of Generalized Winning Strategies of Impartial Combinatorial Games Using SMT Solvers
abstract
Strategy representation and reasoning has recently received much attention in artificial intelligence. Impartial combinatorial games (ICGs) are a type of elementary and fundamental games in game theory. One of the challenging problems of ICGs is to construct winning strategies, particularly, generalized winning strategies for possibly infinitely many instances of ICGs. In this paper, we investigate synthesizing generalized winning strategies for ICGs. To this end, we first propose a logical framework to formalize ICGs based on the linear integer arithmetic fragment of numeric part of PDDL. We then propose an approach to generating the winning formula that exactly captures the states in which the player can force to win. Furthermore, we compute winning strategies for ICGs based on the winning formula. Experimental results on several games demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach.

2016 Strategy Representation and Reasoning in the Situation Calculus
abstract
Strategy representation and reasoning has been one of the most active research areas in AI and multi-agent systems. Representative strategic logics are ATL and the more expressive Strategy Logic SL which reasons about strategies explicitly. In this paper, by a simple extension of the situation calculus with a strategy sort, we develop a general framework for strategy representation and reasoning for complete information games. This framework can be used to compactly represent both concurrent and turn-based possibly infinite game structures, specify the internal structure of strategies, reason about strategies explicitly, and reason about strategic abilities of coalitions under commitments to strategy specifications. We show that our framework is strictly more expressive than SL, and inspired by the work of De Giacomo et al. on bounded action theories, give a decidable fragment of our framework.

2015 An Optimal Free Energy Dissipation Strategy of the MinCDE Oscillator in Regulating Symmetric Bacterial Cell Division
abstract
Sustained molecular oscillations are ubiquitous in biology. The obtained oscillatory patterns provide vital functions as timekeepers, pacemakers and spacemarkers. Models based on control theory have been introduced to explain how specific oscillatory behaviors stem from protein interaction feedbacks, whereas the energy dissipation through the oscillating processes and its role in the regulatory function remain unexplored. Here we developed a general framework to assess an oscillator's regulation performance at different dissipation levels. Using the Escherichia coli MinCDE oscillator as a model system, we showed that a sufficient amount of energy dissipation is needed to switch on the oscillation, which is tightly coupled to the system's regulatory performance. Once the dissipation level is beyond this threshold, unlike stationary regulators' monotonic performance-to-cost relation, excess dissipation at certain steps in the oscillating process damages the oscillator's regulatory performance. We further discovered that the chemical free energy from ATP hydrolysis has to be strategically assigned to the MinE-aided MinD release and the MinD immobilization steps for optimal performance, and a higher energy budget improves the robustness of the oscillator. These results unfold a novel mode by which living systems trade energy for regulatory function.
