| 2024 | Hardware Verification and Performance Evaluation of MmWave Beam Tracking for Integrated Sensing and CommunicationabstractUltra-reliable and low latency (uRLLC) plays an important role in the context of automatic driving, in terms of the road safety, which mainly depends on fast data transmission and precise positioning. However, handling this data and positioning efficiently faces a significant challenge, because of high data volume and vehicles' mobility. To support the high rate of sensing data and positioning information sharing between vehicles and base stations, mmWave communication technology, featured by high frequency and bandwidth, is identified as an potential solution. In addition, constrained by the strong directionality of mmWave, to improve the performance of high reliability, low latency and precise sensing, realtime mmWave beam direction regulation is urgently needed. In this paper, based on the multi-source sensing information, we propose a joint design of fast and robust communication and sensing 3D mmWave beam tracking (MSI-ISACBT) algorithm for two kinds of dynamic motions. In detail, for the case of low dynamic motion, the beam direction can be updated by using historical state information and reflected echo signal strength, while it can be adjusted according to the image information acquired by the camera for the case of high dynamic motion. Simulations validate the effectiveness and correctness of the proposed MSI-ISACBT. Compared with other popular methods, MSI-ISACBT achieve a stable throughput of 2.8Gbps and more smooth beam angle control with 16ms delay. | 2024 | Width-Adaptive CNN: Fast CU Partition Prediction for VVC Screen Content CodingabstractScreen content coding (SCC) in Versatile Video Coding (VVC) improves the coding efficiency of screen content videos (SCVs) significantly but results in high computational complexity due to the quad-tree plus multi-type tree (QTMT) structure of the coding unit (CU) partitioning. Therefore, we make the first attempt to reduce the encoding complexity from the perspective of CU partitioning for SCC in VVC. To this end, a fast CU partition prediction method is technically developed for VVC-SCC. First, to solve the problem of lacking sufficient SCC training data, SCVs are collected to establish a database containing CUs of various sizes and corresponding partition labels. Second, to determine the partition decision in advance, a novel WA-CNN model is proposed, which is capable of predicting two large CUs for VVC-SCC by adjusting the feature channels based on the size of input CU blocks. Finally, considering the imbalanced proportion of diverse partition decisions, a loss function with the weight that equalizes the contribution of imbalanced data is formulated to train the proposed WA-CNN model. Experimental results show that the proposed model reduces the SCC intra-encoding time by 35.65%${\sim }$38.31% with an average of 1.84%${\sim }$2.42% BDBR increase. | 2011 | A low-power ESD-protected 24GHz receiver front-end with π-type input matching networkabstractThis paper presents a full ESD-protected receiver front-end for wireless communications around 24GHz, comprising LNA, mixer, VGA, and on-chip balun. A π -type input matching network incorporating ESD capacitance is constructed to realize the source impedance transformation for higher gain. With it, the gain of the first stage is improved while the noise figure is just degraded slightly. The measured results show an input return loss of less than-12dB, 36dB voltage gain, 6.9dB noise figure, and 2dBm output P1dB. The chip has an HBM ESD robustness of ± 2kV and consumes 34mA from a 1.2V supply with a total area of 1×0.8 mm2using 0.13μm RF CMOS process.
