2024 Proteus: Exploring Protein Structure Generation for Enhanced Designability and Efficiency
abstract
Diffusion-based generative models have been successfully employed to create proteins with novel structures and functions. However, the construction of such models typically depends on large, pre-trained structure prediction networks, like RFdiffusion. In contrast, alternative models that are trained from scratch, such as FrameDiff, still fall short in performance. In this context, we introduce Proteus, an innovative deep diffusion network that incorporates graph-based triangle methods and a multi-track interaction network, eliminating the dependency on structure prediction pre-training with superior efficiency. We have validated our model's performance on de novo protein backbone generation through comprehensive in silico evaluations and experimental characterizations, which demonstrate a remarkable success rate. These promising results underscore Proteus's ability to generate highly designable protein backbones efficiently. This capability, achieved without reliance on pre-training techniques, has the potential to significantly advance the field of protein design.

2020 A Simple Analysis of Multimodal Data Fusion
abstract
Multimodal data fusion has a long research history since audio-visual speech recognition, which is inspired by the McGurk effect. Because of the limited model capacity of the traditional methods, multimodal data fusion researches are not so popular for a period. Recently, the advances of deep learning techniques open up new opportunities for the multimodal data fusion field. However, there is still a great gap in multimodal data processing ability between artificial intelligence and human beings. Many problems in multimodal data processing are still necessary to be researched. In this work, we propose to gain an insight into the information fusion level and apply different information fusion strategy to different situations. We analyze the different situations of the multimodal data fusion process and divide them into two categories, including consistent information fusion and contradictory information fusion. We demonstrate some toy examples of the different cases of the multimodal data fusion process.

2014 A paper-based electrostatic zipper actuator for printable robots
abstract
A paper-based electrostatic zipper actuator for printable robotics has been designed, fabricated and characterized. A simple fabrication process that utilizes paper with a carbon nanotube ink is used to create electrodes separated by either a mylar or parylene dielectric layer. A 5 cm × 1 cm actuator demonstrated a maximum static deflection of 1.8 cm and a bandwidth of approximately 12 Hz. Static power dissipation was under 1 μW. Two of these actuators are combined to demonstrate simple motion in a 6 cm × 1 cm × 1 cm robot using assymetric friction with the ground, achieving speeds up to 33 mm/min.
