2006 A Reconfigurable Gaussian/Triangular Basis Functions Computation Circuit
abstract
A CMOS Gaussian/Triangular Basis functions computation circuit suitable for analog neural networks is proposed. The circuit can be configured to realize any of the two functions. The circuit can approximate these functions with relative root-mean-square error less than 1%. It is shown that the center, width, and peak amplitude of the dc transfer characteristic can be independently controlled. SPICE simulation results using 0.18 μ m CMOS process model parameters of TSMC18 technology are included.

1993 Effect of bit-threshold errors on the harmonic and intermodulation performance of successive approximation A/D converters
abstract
A simple approach is described for predicting the harmonic and intermodulation performance of a real successive approximation analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with bit-threshold errors. The real ADC characteristic is split into an ideal staircase characteristic, representing the ideal ADC characteristic, minus a train of pulses, representing the bit-threshold errors. Series expressions are obtained for the output spectra of the real ADC excited by a multicarrier input signal with arbitrary amplitudes. The special case of two equal-amplitude carriers is considered in detail, and analytical expressions are obtained for the amplitudes of the harmonic and intermodulation products in terms of the individual bit-threshold errors. The feasibility of minimizing the amplitudes of the intermodulation products is explored.>

1985 Carrier-to-Intermodulation Performance of Multiple FM/FDM Carriers Through a GaA1As Hetrojunction Laser Diode
abstract
The simple nonlinear rate equations are used to predict the carrier-to-intermodulation performance of laser diodes excited by an arbitrary number of equal-amplitude, equally spaced FM carriers. The special case of relatively small input carrier amplitudes and slowly varying angle modulations is considered and closed-form approximations are obtained.

1985 Effect of Nonmonotonicity on the Intermodulation Performance of A/D Converters
abstract
By modifying a recently proposed approach, the effect of nonmonotonicity on the intermodulation performance of A/D converters has been analyzed. A real staircase model is used for A/D converter transfer function with one or more missing codes. Series expressions are obtained for the output spectra of the A/D converter excited by multicarrier input signal with arbitrary carrier amplitudes. The special case of two equal-amplitude carriers is considered in detail, and the effect of the position of the missing code on the intermodulation performance is investigated.

1984 The Intermodulation Due to Multicarrier Quantization
abstract
The quantization of a multicarrier signal with arbitrary carrier amplitudes is analyzed by using a simple, general approach. As opposed to the sum of signum functions used by Blachman, the quantization staircase output is represented by the sum of the input plus a sawtooth. Using an infinite Fourier series for expanding this sawtooth, series expressions are obtained for the output quantized carriers and the resulting intermodulation products of any order. The special case of a narrow-band input consisting of a strong carrier and a weak carrier is considered in detail and the results are found qualitatively in agreement with those published by Blachman.
