| 2025 | A Note on "AESM2 Attribute-Based Encrypted Search for Multi-Owner and Multi-User Distributed Systems"abstractWe show that the attribute-based encrypted search protocol [IEEE TPDS, 2023, 34(1), 92–107] is insecure against unauthorized user querying attack, because an adversary can convert a valid query from any authorized user into a new legitimate query, while the server cannot detect the fraud. | 2024 | Corrections to "Efficient Provably-Secure Dynamic ID-Based Authenticated Key Agreement Scheme With Enhanced Security Provision"abstractWe show that the key agreement scheme [IEEE TDSC, 2022, 19(2): 1227–1238] is vulnerable to offline password guessing attack, not as claimed. We also reiterate the signification of an identifier which has often been neglected by some researchers. Zhengjun Cao |

| 2021 | Comment on "Efficient Secure Outsourcing of Large-Scale Sparse Linear Systems of Equations"abstractThe scheme [IEEE Trans. Big Data, 4 (1), 2018, 26-39] is flawed because the sparsity of coefficient matrix is neglected. In the discussed scenario, we find it is unnecessary to outsource such a problem because the client can solve it locally. Even if the matrix is not sparse, the proposed paradigm which requires a great number of interactions, is rarely adopted because of the possibly incurred massive communication cost. | 2021 | Comment on "Circuit Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-Based Hybrid Encryption With Verifiable Delegation in Cloud Computing"abstractThe scheme [1] is flawed because: (1) its circuit access structure is confusingly described; (2) the cloud server cannot complete the related computations; (3) some users can conspire to generate new decryption keys, without the help of the key generation authority. | 2019 | Comment on "Highly Efficient Linear Regression Outsourcing to a Cloud"abstractWe show that Chen et al.'s schemes [IEEE TCC, 2(4), 2014, 499-508] for outsourcing linear regression computation to the cloud are not unquestioned. In scheme 1, the client has to generate an orthogonal matrix. Its computational complexity is almost equal to that of solving a linear regression problem locally. In such case, the client has no necessary to outsource the computations to the cloud. In scheme 2, it masks a matrix by multiplying two diagonal matrixes. The linear transformation is very vulnerable to statistical attack. Zhengjun Cao, Lihua Liu 0001, Olivier Markowitch |

| 2016 | Comment on "Harnessing the Cloud for Securely Outsourcing Large-Scale Systems of Linear Equations"abstractWe remark that the Wang et al.'s scheme [IEEE Transanction Parallel Distributed Systems, 24 (6), 1172-1181, 2013] fails because the involved homomorphic encryption system is invalid in the context of the scheme. This is due to that the general arithmetic over the field$\mathbb {R}$(the outsourced linear equations are constrained to the field) is not compatible with the modular arithmetic over any finite domain (the homomorphic encryption is constrained to the domain). | 2008 | A Group Key Agreement Scheme RevisitedabstractIn PKC'2004, a constant-round group key exchange protocol is proposed. It takes advantage of the properties of the ElGamal encryption scheme combined with the standard secret sharing technique. In this paper, we show that the scheme can be greatly simplified because the standard secret sharing technique does not work well. Based on the observation, we present a revisited scheme. It saves about 4/5 cost of the original scheme. In addition, its security can be directly reduced to the underlying Schnorr's signature scheme and the ElGamal encryption.
