| 2020 | Multimodal biometric recognition systems using deep learning based on the finger vein and finger knuckle print fusionabstractRecognition systems using multimodal biometrics attracts attention because they improve recognition efficiency and high‐security level compared to the unimodal biometrics system. In this study, the authors present a secure multimodal biometrics recognition system based on the deep learning method that uses convolutional neural networks (CNNs). The authors propose two multimodal architectures using the finger knuckle print (FKP) and the finger vein (FV) biometrics with different levels of fusion: the features level fusion and scores level fusion. The features extraction for FKP and FV are performed using transfer learning CNN architectures: AlexNet, VGG16, and ResNet50. The key step aims to select separate features descriptors from each unimodal biometrics modality. After that, the authors combine them using the proposed fusion approaches were support vector machine or Softmax applies as classifiers to increase the proposed system security. The efficiency of the proposed algorithms is tested using publicly available biometrics databases. The experimental results show that the proposed fusion architectures achieve an accuracy of 99.89% and an equal error rate of 0.05%. The obtained results indicate that the biometrics recognition system using deep learning is secure, robust, and reliable. | 2015 | An MDE Approach for Rapid Prototyping and Implementation of Dynamic Reconfigurable SystemsabstractThis article presents a co-design methodology based on RecoMARTE, an extension to the well-known UML MARTE profile, which is used for the specification and automatic generation of Dynamic and Partially Reconfigurable Systems-on-Chip (DRSoC). This endeavor is part of a larger framework in which Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) techniques are extensively used for modeling and via model transformations, generating executable models, which are exploited by implementation tools to create reconfigurable systems. More specifically, the methodological aspects presented in this article are concerned with expediting the conception and implementation of the hardware platform and the integration of correct by construction reconfiguration controller. This article builds upon previous research by integrating previously separated endeavors to obtain a complete PR system generation chain, which aims at shielding the designer of many of the burdensome technological and tool-specific requirements. The methodology permits for the verification of the platform description at different stages in the development process (i.e., HDL for simulation, static FPGA implementation, controller simulation and verification). Furthermore, automation capabilities embedded in the flow enable the generation of the platform description and the integration of the reconfiguration controller executive seamlessly. In order to demonstrate the benefits of the proposed approach, we present a case study in which we target the creation of an image-processing application to be deployed onto an FPGA board. We present the required modeling strategies and we discuss how the generation chains are integrated with the back-end Xilinx tools (the most mature version of PR technology) to produce the necessary executable artifacts: VHDL for the platform description and a C description of the reconfiguration controller to be executed by an embedded processor. | 2014 | Implementation of universal digital architecture using 3D-NoC for mobile terminalabstractThe need to integrate multiple wireless communication protocols into a single low-cost flexible hardware platform is prompted by the increasing number of emerging communication protocols and applications in modern embedded systems. So the current challenge is to design of new digital architectures, in addition to its ability to take over of many functions. In this paper we have identified similarities between the despreader units in Rake receiver and the processor element in FFT-SDF (Fast Fourier Transform- Single path Delay Feedback) to propose a generic architecture shared between the two algorithms widely used. This Smart architecture is interconnected with similar modules by a 3D Network-on-Chip for implementation of Rake receiver (used in WCDMA system) and FFT receiver (in OFDM system). We present in this paper a 3D-NoC with half layer-layer connection, this architecture uses a modified XYZ routing algorithm. The proposed architectures are coded using VHDL onto a Virtex 5 Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) device and results are compared with similar works. The implementation demonstrates that the proposed architectures can deliver a high reduction of the FPGA logic requirements with high maximum frequency. | 2014 | Hardware implementation for a new design of the VBSME Used in H.264/AVCabstractMotion estimation (ME) in video coding standard H.264/AVC adopts variable block size (VBSME) which provides high compression rates but requires much higher computation compared to the previous coding standards. To overcome this complexity, this paper describes a VHDL design and an implementation of VBSME. The design is based on partitioning each 16×16 macroblock into sixteen 4×4 non overlapping subblocks. The motion estimation of these subblocks is performed in parallel in order to use them to form the 41 subblocks of different sizes specified by the standard. As a result, this new design has in consideration low latency and high throughput with a maximum frequency which reaches over than 277 MHz on a Xilinx-Vittex5-LX110T FPGA. | 2012 | Enabling partially reconfigurable IP cores parameterisation and integration using MARTE and IP-XACTabstractThis paper presents a framework which facilitates the parameterization and integration of IP cores into partially reconfigurable SoC platforms, departing from a high-level of abstraction. The approach is based in a Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) methodology, which exploits two widely used standards for Systems-on-Chip specification, MARTE and IP-XACT. The presented work deals with the deployment level of the MDE approach, in which the abstract components of the platform are first linked to the lower level IP-XACT counterparts. At this phase, information for parameterization and integration is readily available, and a synthesizable model can be obtained from the generated IP-XACT through model transformations. We detail how certain IP-XACT objects are exploited in our approach; the emphasis is given to the generation of IP cores in a Xilinx EDK environment. We provide a case study in which a complete DPR platform is modeled in MARTE and implemented in a FPGA. | 2002 | Cost comparison of image rotation implantations on static and dynamic Reconfigurable FPGAsabstractFPGA components are widely used today to perform various algorithms (digital filtering) in real time. The emergence of Dynamically Reconfigurable (DR) FPGAs made it possible to reduce the number of necessary resources to carry out an image processing application (tasks chain). We present in this article an image processing application (image rotation) that exploits the FPGA 's dynamic reconfiguration feature. A comparison is undertaken between the dynamic and static reconfiguration by using two criteria, cost and performance criteria. For the sake of testing the validity of our approach in terms of Algorithm and Architecture Adequacy, we realized an AT40K40 based board ARDOISE.
