Understanding Vessel Mobility Behavior through the Identification and Labeling of Maritime Zones of InterestabstractIn maritime trajectory analysis, understanding the significance of specific locations visited by vessels is essential for navigation management, infrastructure planning, and situational awareness. This work focuses on defining, identifying, contextualizing, and classifying Zones of Interest (ZOIs), i.e., spatial areas that reflect meaningful places in vessel trajectories such as ports, anchorages, or transit slowdowns. Each ZOI is characterized by a geographic polygon, a semantic type (e.g., terminal, anchorage), and additional metadata. Omar Ghannou, Etienne Thuillier, Omar Boucelma

Multi-output regression for imbalanced data streamabstractAbstract In this article, we describe an imbalanced regression method for making predictions over imbalanced data streams. We present MORSTS (Multiple Output Regression for Streaming Time Series), an online ensemble regressors devoted to non‐stationary and imbalanced data streams. MORSTS relies on several multiple output regressor submodels, adopts a cost sensitive weighting technique for dealing with imbalanced datasets, and handles overfitting by means of the K‐fold cross validation. For assessment purposes, experiments have been conducted on known real datasets and compared with known base regression techniques. Sana Sellami, Omar Boucelma, Richard Chbeir

WoR Ontology: Modeling Resources in Web Connected EnvironmentsabstractThe Web of Things (WoT) describes a set of standards by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) for the interoperability of different Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, and different application domains. Thus, it guarantees not only device-to-device interactions, but also, application-to-application communications, despite their platform heterogeneity. To identify and use provided services (also called resources) that are exposed by either the devices or the applications connected to a Web environment, describing them using an open, shared and dynamic knowledge representation is required, allowing them to interoperate on both syntactic and semantic levels. In this paper, we propose WoR, a Web of Resources ontology that provides a modular and a common vocabulary to describe Web resources. WoR can: (1) ease the discovery, the selection, and the composition of different kind of resources (exposed by connected Web devices or Web applications), (2) provide reasoning means to discover new information, and (3) allow future extensibility and adaptation to new domains needs. Experiments were made to evaluate our proposed WoR ontology, showing promising results on the effectiveness and the performance levels. Lara Kallab, Richard Chbeir, Sana Sellami, Omar Boucelma

PBAC4M: Provenance-Based Access Control for MobileabstractWith the advent of mobiquitous technologies, security became a critical concern for digital services providers who wish to control access to their resources deployed in distributed and mobile environments. Traditional access control methods are no longer sufficient to protect themselves from hacking attempts to which resources are exposed in these open environments. We propose a complementary new approach based on Provenance which makes it possible to check that a request for access to a digital resource is compliant with the predefined use case and access rules. | 2014 | Trusting the Cloud: A PROV + RBAC ApproachabstractThis paper describes a provenance-based access control system for the cloud. The system relies on provenance (PROV-DM, PROV-O) and access-control models (RBAC) together with a distributed rule-based mechanism. The system allows rule propagation (in the cloud) and uses a central execution engine for enforcing security and trustworthiness. This paper provides a comparison between PROV-DM and PROV-O in terms of efficiency and expressiveness regarding Provenance graphs. Julien Lacroix, Omar Boucelma

Provenance Monitoring in the CloudabstractThe provenance of workflow is an important supportive component of workflows that concerns the knowledge sharing, product reusability, and process verification. Cloud computing brings new application opportunities and, along with them, associated research challenges, such as integrity, privacy, security, and related legal problems. In this talk, we describe an approach and a system for monitoring data/workflow provenance, with the goal of ensuring/assessing cloud security. The approach relies on (1) OPM, the Open Provenance Model for the specification of provenance, (2) Colored Petri Net (CPN) for diagnosis purposes, and (3) Web Service Security policies (WS-S) which are integrated as part of workflow tasks in order to simulate security checkpoints. | 2013 | Towards a Flexible Schema Matching Approach for Semantic Web Service DiscoveryabstractSemantic web service discovery has attracted a lot of attention in the last decade. Research conducted in this area can be (mainly) summarized as follows: (1) "monolith" matchmaking algorithms (and systems), and (2) schema matching-based techniques. In this paper we describe a flexible approach that takes leverage of existing schema matchers, leading to a multiple choice strategy for semantic service discovery. The approach has been implemented and validated in using the data collection provided by the S3 (Semantic Service Selection) community, and led to promising preliminary results. | 2011 | Web Services Discovery and Composition: A Schema Matching ApproachabstractAutomated matching of service descriptions is the key to service discovery and composition. In this paper, we propose an approach for web services discovery and composition. The approach relies on (1) SAWSDL, a simple and generic annotation language, (2) an XML representation of a web service that carries both syntactic (e.g., WSDL) and semantic (e.g., SAWSDL) information, and (3) the reuse of available schema matchers. The approach departs from exiting ones because it does not advocate a specific matchmaking algorithm, and it promotes the combination of different schema matchers, allowing multiple discovery and composition strategies. | 2010 | GQBox: geospatial data quality assessmentabstractIn order to measure and assess the quality of GIS, there exist a sparse offer of tools, providing specific functions with their own interest but are not sufficient to deal with broader user's requirements. Interoperability of these tools remains a technical challenge because of the heterogeneity of their models and access patterns. On the other side, quality analysts require more and more integration facilities that allow them to consolidate and aggregate multiple quality measures acquired from different observations or data sources, in using/combining seamlessly different quality tools. Clearly, there is a gap between users's requirements and the spatial data quality market. This demo paper will illustrate GQBox, a geographic quality (tool)box. GQBox supplies a standards-based generic meta model that supports the definition of quality goals and metrics, and it provides a service-based infrastructure that allows interoperability among several quality tools. | 2010 | A graphical query language for an XPDL repositoryabstractBusiness processes (BPs) are among the most valuable assets of an organization. Knowledge management and best practices can be supported by a repository for the management, sharing and retrieval of business processes in a company or among collaborating organizations. To be effective the repository needs to provide an efficient, expressive and user-friendly query mechanism. This demo paper illustrates a BP retrieval system that leverages ORYX BP editor, with XQuery capabilities. A BP a graphical query may be expressed in using BPMN, and posed against a XPDL repository of BPs in using XQuery. Doan Khanh Han, Omar Boucelma, Stéphane Bressan, Putu Wuri Handayani

Feature logics based discovery and composition of biological web resourcesabstractDespite the availability of several data integration tools, the proliferation of biological databases and resources over the Internet is still challenging the bioinformatics community. Whereas current research is targeted towards the use of ontologies and P2P architectures, most of the Web data still remain accessible through rudimentary interfaces like query forms, that grant access to the underlying data management system. In this paper, we present a formalism based on feature logics used for representing and comparing those resources. The purpose of our work is twofold, and concerns reasoning on traditional query forms capabilities for creating join paths through resources, and the use of the generated paths as a support for cascading joins across heterogeneous and distributed datasets. | 2008 | Composing adaptable-resources for answering complex queries in distributed systemsabstractThe Internet and grid technologies development was accompanied by an exponential proliferation of the resources to which a customer (user, program, community) may have access to. These resources (data sources, software components, Web services, physical devices, etc) are often offered in an adaptable/negotiable manner, i.e., under different configurations (variants), in order to satisfy different customers' needs. They are in that case called adaptable-resources. We present in this article some mechanisms that allow the composition of resources' variants, in order to answer complex queries, that generally require a combination of several adaptable-resources. | 2007 | Using the Functional Model for Customizable Web Services SpecificationabstractWe present in this paper a functional model based framework for customizable Web services description, discovery and composition. Web services are described here at a high level abstraction and can be seen as "black boxes" labeled by their names and input/output parameters. Complementary to this formalism, we defined a set of mechanisms for Web services discovery and composition. Yacine Sam, Omar Boucelma

| 2006 | web services customization: a composition-based approachabstractIn this paper, we propose a framework for dynamic Web services customization. The basic idea consists to automatically transform Web services configurations, published in services directories, into other ones better suited for client needs. The goal of this automatic transformation, based mainly on dynamic Web services composition, is twofold. On the one hand, it makes it easier for Web services providers to perform services customization. On the other hand, it allows services requesters to obtain a Web service with the configurations that satisfy their preferences, even when those preferences are not explicitly published in Web services directories. | 2004 | VirGIS: Mediation for Geographical Information SystemsabstractGeographic data have been collected for centuries and are available in a wide variety of formats and supports. VirGIS provides an integrated view of the data, and a geographical query language to access and manipulate integrated geographical data. Typical mediation approaches are data-driven and do not address the problem of integration of query capabilities. Geographic languages provided by GIS usually express spatial selections, metric or topological queries, allocations, etc., in addition to standard data manipulation. the VirGIS mediation system aims to integrate geographical query capabilities with GQuery, a XML geographical query language, and recent specifications published by the Open GIS Consortium (OGC) and adopted by major GIS vendors. | 2003 | The virGIS WFS-based spatial mediation systemabstractThe proliferation of spatial data on the Internet is beginning to allow a much wider access to data currently available in various Geographic Information Systems (GIS). In order to provide effective spatial database integration, we need to provide flexible and powerful GIS data integration solutions. Indeed, GIS are highly heterogeneous: not only they differ by their data representations, but they also offer radically different query languages. A GIS mediation approach should provide an integrated view of the data supplied by all sources, and a geographical query language to access and manipulate integrated data.
